The people who work there are awesome. If you have an issue with your shooting they jump thru hoops to help you. This is a clean upscales, professional gun range - I mean PROFESSIONAL. They're knowledgeable and courteous and went out of their way to help me out with an issue I was having with my Desert Eagle. Even stenciled the barrel numbers back on the barrel of the gun where a bad Cerakoting job had covered them up. Told me it would take 4-5 days to get the gun looked at. An hour (literally an hour) later they'd looked at the gun and wouldn't charge me anything. Didn't charge me for the stenciling on the barrel either. Highly recommend this place for shooting, armorer help and anything in the shooting world. I'll be back for sure. read more

Customer of 5 years, never again. Over the last 2 years the management has run off all knowledgeable employees, now with Jake gone I don't see a reason to go in. Selection is poor, knowledge is poor, and facilities are even worse now. It saddens me to write a 3 star but it is necessary in order to show the problems at this facility when it comes to courses. I had such a wonderful experience with my initial private lesson and my instructor was AWESOME! Then setting up and taking our CHL course, the time spent in classroom was so important and learning how to work with the weapon (since it was MY first experience) -- the teacher was so friendly, helpful and didn't make me feel like an idiot! Here's the reason this turned from a 5-star to a 3-star review: after all of hte coursework, the range time, etc. we were required to sit through an hour long presentation from an insurance sales person (MLM-style) before they would give us our certificates. Understand, I don't MIND the insurance information, but it was totally unprofessional to stick it in the middle of a course. The course is the course. Sales is sales. Don't mix the two together, it left me with a bad taste in my mouth. ADDITIONALLY, BTO has assured me that they NEVER sell emails; however, the insurance sales company (U.S. Law Shield) clearly IS the only other company that we shared our email with (and only them because BTO put them in our class). I have NEVER EVER contacted anyone else about weapons until this experience and guess what my email box is now full of -- holster sales, gun sales, reloading equipment, and the list goes on and on. We will be back to use the awesome range, and look forward to interacting with the very professional and helpful staff. It is a shame that this great range now has this black mark on it just because some corporation wants to make an extra buck. read more

Why 4 stars? Because it was certainly a memorable experience. --- --- --- For the first 38 years of my life, I had never even touched a gun. That changed with my visit to BTO, and boy was it an experience. My friend was in town visiting and had a flight back home that evening. I really had no good ideas on what we could do all day, and felt bad that we might end up spending his last day just hanging around my house. After all, it was a Monday and I live way up in the burbs, so choices were very limited. But then I came across the idea of a gun range, suggested it, and he was down. Truthfully, I was quite nervous about it. Not because I actually thought it was legitimately dangerous, but just because of the unknown. That nervousness started when we officially planned on visiting and slowly accelerated once we arrived, peaking before I took my first shot. Before we headed up to BTO, I called to confirm that we could just show up, rent a gun, buy bullets and shoot. Indeed we could. So we grabbed lunch and headed over. For a total newbie, I had no idea what to expect, but I did assume there would be an instructor helping us out every step of the way. It turned out, there was very little assistance and honestly, a shocking lack of oversight, considering I was yelling from the mountaintops that I'd never even touched a gun before. They didn't seem concerned enough to give us more than a quick overview and send us on our way. Fortunately, my friend had shot guns before, albeit many years ago, but at least he somewhat knew what he was doing. We declined to pay $75 per person for someone from the shop to stay with us and help the entire time. For those like me who are reading this as rookies, here's the biggest takeaway: the sound of these guns in the shooting bays is probably the loudest thing you will ever hear in your entire life. And this is with headphones on. I really never got used to how loud it was - it really was quite unnerving. Especially when I didn't know it was coming and someone in another bay started shooting. The kick back from the rifle we chose was very minimal. I always assumed that would be worse, but we purposely chose a gun where that wouldn't be an issue. It definitely feels insanely powerful. And it's not that easy to aim. I hit the paper with the targets with about 40-50% of my shots when it was only 25 yards away. One big takeaway from this experience is that anytime you see people in TV and movies using guns like it's no big deal, it's quite ridiculous. All in all, renting the bay for an hour and shooting about 150 bullets, our total was just under $200. I had absolutely no idea what to expect on the cost for this. If it had been $50 or $500, I wouldn't have been surprised, considering I had no frame of reference. Overall, it was a very unique experience that I won't ever forget. My only gripe is that the gun we used jammed up a lot, so we often had to stop, take the chamber out and un-jam the bullets. That could have been user-error on our part, or maybe the gun was just cheap, I'm not really sure. read more

6 of us met there to do a little competition shooting. We came from all over the Houston area. We showed up and asked for 2 lanes. We were given one and told we would get the next one also. We all paid the per person fee and accessories. As the lanes around us emptied out we went to get our promised other lane, we were then told they were already assigned. The 3 lanes next to us stayed unused for 20 minutes while 3 small groups of 2 people each slowly filled in. WE PAID THREE TIMES HIGHER RATE THAN THE OTHER 3 LANES!!! 6 shooters on one lane does not allow to shoot and compete let alone move around an over crowded range safely!! 12 people in a small range is stupid and dangerous and they gladly took our money and dropped the good customer service, after they collected our money, that the previous Shooter Station always provided. We learned, there are plenty of safer and better serviced ranges in the area that we will be taking our business to. Not sure if it was poor customer service or incompetence of the employees of the range. We were grossly over charged for what we got. Awesome gun range, the 100 yard indoor range is definitely one of a kind. In each lane they have a camera set to display your target at 100 yards. Nice indoor range. Astonishing inventory! Rifle lanes have target cameras which is huge. For pistols they have Maglulas on leashes, handy. Cordial folks, but .... They like to hang on to your ID, which is fine, but once they did not like my LTC. Also they lost my info two weeks after I last shot. Good indoor range if all you are shooting is brass. If you want to save $ on ammo and use steel, aluminum, nickel cased ammo you will not be allowed to use the range. I used to be a member and found I could only shoot 22 so I quit and joined another, outdoor, range that doesn't have the restrictions and have been happy ever since. read more

I went to BTO last year because of their 100 yd indoor rifle range to sight in my 45-70... It was a very disappointing experience... The first lane I was assigned had no functioning camera to view the target. Then they moved me and that lane had no functioning target carrier. I finally got on a lane that had operating equipment, but soon discovered that lighting was so poor that I couldn't see my shot placement on the target beyond 50 yds... It was a total waste of time, money and ammo... I sent them an email via their website, but no reply.. I can't recommend this place at all... read more

Service is terrible shorthanded, walked in, there was only two of us there. Guy comes up, waits on us as he's talking to us other people walked in. He left us standing there while he goes wait on other people did it three and four different times, acted like it was no big deal that we were there trying to buy a gun, and wanted to use the shooting range. We Asked to see a hand gun, he takes it out and hands it to us then just walks off. When we tried to ask about the gun he says there are others better than that one, as he walks off again. I get they're busy but when you're standing there before anyone else walks up, you should get waited on. read more

I have been going here for a couple decades since the place originally opened as Shooters Station. I buy and sell a lot of guns online and Cissy in their shipping department has been awesome. BTO is a great company with excellent knowledgeable and friendly staff. I decided to take my boys (ages 12 and 8) there to shoot as no other place was open. We made the 20 minute drive there and went to check in only for them to come back and say that we can't shoot because my youngest boy was not 12 years old. This is completely asinine. Every other shooting range in this area was more than willing to accommodate kids and were willing to throw in safety advice to them as well. Don't waste your money here as they are not kid friendly. read more

I been in a hundred gun shops shooting and also shopping and this place has the worst prices I ever seen. I don't know if they have different suppliers or what but this is ridiculous. One example - I looked at a cheap shotgun, they had it for $300 - I went online and it sells for $119! I also looked at a decent handgun I like, they're price is $560 and I can get it at another gun shop right down the road for $450. What a ripoff!! I have enjoyed every experience I have had at Shooter's Station. I have only been twice (since I live over an hour away) but both experiences were fantastic. The first time I went was to go to the range and the second was to take my LTC course. The lanes are indoors ! I love that!! Considering Houston is 150 degrees outside. They also have a long range of 100 yards which was great for getting out the AR! The staff was extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. The second time I visited Felicia was the LTC instructor. She was very informative, professional, efficient and funny. I felt extremely comfortable in her class and loved seeing a woman teaching it!! Shooter's Station has been my go-to place for years! I originally took a gun safety class and then the CHL class (before LTC's were out). The staff allowed me to test guns before deciding on the one that most fit my needs. Fast forward 7 years and no longer living in Montgomery, I still visit this range. While management has changed, the staff is knowledgeable and helpful, the facility is clean and the prices are reasonable. A 5 star rating is pretty strong, and my first I believe, but when compared to Shiloh's in Houston or Spring Guns & Ammo, I believe Shooter's Station is best. I bought a new STI Tactical handgun from Shooter Station a few weeks ago. Keep in mind, this is a $2000 gun. When the sale was complete, they couldn't find the second magazine that should have been in the case. One of the guys went to the back and found one that "would work". The other mag also showed some wear, but I bought the gun anyway. So, it turns out, the "found" mag was defective....I contacted STI and they sent me a new one. Thanks goodness for the excellent customer service at STI! So, I would be careful about buying a new gun from these people. They apparently have no problem exchanging mags in new cases for used ones. One more thing, my gunsmith said it appeared that the gun had been fired, so they essentially sold me a used gun with a faulty magazine. read more
