    Cupcakes ahoy!
    Nick S.

Now THESE are some delicious cupcakes! The minis are where it's at- two for $3.95, and packed with just enough velvety frosting to satiate and satisfy. One of today's specials - "Nau" - was a Belgian chocolate mini cupcake with peanut butter frosting, and it was divine. Like diving into peanut buttery layers of edible silk atop a moist chocolate cake. Also, they brew up a solid iced coffee. Not a frappe with ice cream, but a proper espresso poured over ice with milk.

I absolutely love BTS Café! Walking in to the café I'm always greeted by at least 2 staff members. The staff are always so attentive and friendly. And then there's the cupcakes...amazingly delicious!!

Baby cupcakes and a hot chocolate. Yummy!

Thoroughly delightful experience. Sugar rush without problem! Staff friendly and helpful. Would definitely re-visit anytime!

Box of cupcakes - box of 5 $19.95

Don't mistake the lack of a star as a reflection on the cupcakes - they are unbelievably delectable. It's the price of the cupcakes that makes me reduce my overall rating to 4 stars. The cupcakes are great, but at the end of the day they are cupcakes and when 5 cupcakes cost $19.95 and a box of cupcake mix, which makes 12 costs $5... Well you can weigh it up for yourself. It is a nice little cafe though and nice place to catch up with friends, definitely not a place to stop regularly, otherwise you're likely to experience empty purse/pocket/wallet syndrome.

I came across their bright yellow truck when I was on my way to try a new Burger Theory Art Burger. Usually I'm right on top of the food truck goss, but this cupcake truck had been serving in the city for a whole month and I was yet to hear about it. What is going on in the world?! So after lining up for my burger I moseyed over to check out their wares. With 5 flavours on offer I of course went for the 6 pack, grabbing one of each and 2 banana cupcakes. They were pretty and very cheap (at $16 for 6). I really wanted to love these. Like really really wanted to love these. I mean.. cupcakes... from a truck... cupcakes... But unfortunately they just didn't deliver. The icing was the first major letdown. I'm a fan of a delicious but not over the top icing (and I'm a fiend for cream cheese icing), but the flavours were all quite 'fake' tasting and while I can't be certain, there was a distinct similarity to Betty Crocker chocolate & vanilla frosting. The choc mint cupcake strongly reminded me of toothpaste - and not the yummy varieties that you sneakily enjoy while brushing your teeth. ;) The cakes themselves - better, but still not great. The flavour of the cakes was a little generic, and there just wasn't too much that stood out. With plenty of other great options in the CBD (I'm looking at you BTS http://www.yelp.com.au/biz/bts-cafe-adelaide), I just don't think this is the time for the Cupcake Truck to shine. They would make a cute present, and they are pretty, but I just don't think you'll impress a cupcake snob with a box of these.

Cupcake Please is the perfect example of "if your going only do one thing then you have to do it really well". Theres nothing really wrong with the cupcakes from Cupcake Please but theres also nothing special or different about them. The team here at Cherry Darling Bakehouse really do work hard to get the message out with their skills in cooking! I have never tried a vegan pie before. I was expecting baked veggies with awesome sauces within vegan pies. Well, no way! This bakery stocks the most awesome vegan creations. Cakes galore, slices, Mac & Cheese pies, Satay pies, Spinach and cheese rolls, roast veg pies, bbq rib pie and hell yes.... a Cheeseburger Pie. I totally could not say no to a cheeseburger pie. As soon as I saw the name, I thought "genius". Did it live up to my expectations? Oh yes it did. Of course it tastes different to a meat pie. But it was so full of flavour with spices in the sauce cooked in with the faux soy meat. They really know how to make a hardy meat taste. The pie was also filled with soy cheese and pickles! So good! The pastry was flaky on the top and short on the bottom. Why have I not been eating these pies forever? My only regret was that I did not try some of the cakes or slices in store. Oh well, any excuse to return! If you have not tried Vegan food before, I would highly recommend starting here. They are brilliant and really friendly.

I have to say however - they did do gluten free cupcakes and they were done on short notice. The fact that this place is next to a brilliant chocolatier probably doesn't help. She had a Where's Wally themed party and the result was a white fondant with red fondant stripes which weren't uniform in size and didn't quite fit the cupcake tops. At $2.50 a cupcake, she really couldn't afford much and it was a little disappointing. I went home and made some of my own gluten free cupcakes and decorated them with piped colour and little Wally glasses. It didn't take much more imagination!! I have had others say that they've found the cupcakes here dry and I found the same thing. I've always experienced Gluten free cupcakes to have a bit more moisture if anything. They aren't very expensive and look so professional. I got 3 different flavours with colored icing and decorations like flowers and butterflys on top. They come well boxed so they don't move around and get squished and I hired a tiered stand for them to sit on. The cupcakes were so cute and pretty and everyone at my party loved them. They were soft, fluffy and flavoursome. And the lady was very nice and helpful, organizing exactly what I wanted and suiting me for when to pick them up etc.

One thing I really love in a business is when you see the staff enjoying themselves. It is kind of infectious! You just want to be around them more and support such a positive environment and business. It is all about starting your day in the right way! Décor is simple and funky with cool wooden rustic looking tables. The menu is also simple, which shows that they are confident in what they deliver. With my love of bagels, I did not have to second-guess what I wanted for brekkie. It is served with herbed cream cheese, smoked salmon, capers, watercress and pickled onions. Woo! However, after ordering it seems I had to get there earlier. They had run out of bagels! But, the staff where kind enough to offer a sourdough as a sub. Great! And also, I should mention that I am not fussed if a restaurant runs out of something. It just means their food is fresh and popular! Ok, so my brekkie was amazing. Lots of flavour in the cream cheese and pickled onions. Bread and salmon was super fresh and the watercress just tied everything off. Perfect! Could not fault it and would be just as amazing in bagel form. The coffee here is ace as well, great flavour and a strong brew! Good pick me up for the rest of my day. I saw on their menu they do burgers, so I think I will return for that. Absolutely love the staff and atmosphere here. Highly recommended!

Suffice it to say that there is much to look at, enjoy and also purchase. The food was delicious! I love an all day breakfast option and am particularly impressed with the varied bread and non-bread options. e.g. I had a breakfast dish, called 'smashed' which was served on sweetcorn fitters. Delicious non-bread accompaniment to eggs and salmon. My dining companions ordered the pumpkin burger and apparently that was scrumptious. Really healthy too. It looked amazing.
