Went to Bubba's for the first time today. OMG it was wonderful. The patty melt with onions rings was great and the catfish plate was enough for 3 hungry men. Great service by Cathy. MY follow-up is slow in coming, but it was a wonderful experience. I was traveling with my friend Curry with the intention of taking him to one of my favorite places in Baton Rouge. This spot was highly recommended by some of the locals we encountered. Everything was perfectly prepared and well seasoned. We first spoke to a young lady who turned out to be the manager. It seems we hit a note with her as she brought each of us a sample of the bread pudding. What a wonderful way to say that you appreciate someone stopping by! By the way, as much as I loved the onion rings, the sauce on the bread pudding was the best thing I tasted that day. Again, I hate leaving poor reviews but it needs to be done. I swung by after visiting Denham Springs because the place looked and sounded great. To begin i paid $27 to eat by myself, with no drink. Ordered a mega cheeseburger which is just a little bigger than than the regular I reckon. The burger was just not good, a McDonald's burger would've been more satisfying than this one. The Cajun fries are good but they can cook them longer because they were kinda mushy but not too bad. The onion rings were the best part, hand battered and huge and delicious. Dipped my onion rings In their Bubba Sauce which is identical to Canes Sauce. I guess it's not a terrible place to choose but it was a bit of a let down for me. Mom n Pop type of joint, not much seating at all. 2 TV's in the dining room and the wait wasn't terrible for my food. read more

Bubba's is very close to my work and personally is my go to place in Walker. Their grilled chicken platter is to die for and their honey mustard is so good. My son who is only 10 is now a Yelp'er. We'll get in the car and he'll look for a place that he's never been that does burgers. I told him to widen his search and he suggested Bubba's. So we find our way driving into Walker and the up a winding 2 lane road that I'm not familiar with that others behind me obviously were. We get to Bubba's and I know I've been by here before and sure enough they have odd hours. Open for lunch, closed in the afternoon then open for dinner. We walk in and noticed just a few tables and a counter with some stools along the wall to sit made it for cramped quarters. Not being from Louisiana I sometimes get a weird look from the locals in small places like this. There was an older couple sitting at a table who sized us up when we walked in and wouldn't stop staring, with a look of you're not from around here are you. I think my son was wearing this goofy shirt that has a big mac and a kitty cat on it. Kind of made me feel uneasy but I just shrugged it off. I try to not let the clientelle make me judge the food or the owners. Some of the best conversations I've had were with the craziest people in a place like this, so you never know. They were busy that night. The lady took our order as I franctically looked at the menu as she was juggling phone calls, talking to people around us and telling other people behind the counter what to do. I noticed they had some mega sized burgers on their menu which in my younger years I'd order no problem. I ordered the 1/2 pound double with bacon and cheese and my son got the 1/3 pound single patty with no cheese and bacon and we both got fries and a drink. We sat down right in front of that annoying couple under the big TV and soon after got our food. My son and I devoured our food it was so good. I had to walk around my truck a few times to make sure I didn't pass out from food coma before getting in to drive home. I'd say this place comes very close to Uncle E's Wings and Things on Monterrey. Big, Greasy, Plentiful and In your face comfort food. My wife and I decided it would be a Waitr night for us. After looking at the menu, she decided on Bubba Cheeseburger, and I chose the Mega Bubba Cheeseburger. Her burger was a 1/2 pound burger, and mine 3/4 pound. We split a fry as it was large enough for 2 people. When we opened our order, the first thing we noticed was the size of the burgers. They were nice and large, and the buns were really soft. They were perfectly prepared and tasted great. The only minus was the fries were on the soft, almost mushy side. They were still good, we just prefer our fries cooked longer. Overall, we were impressed. I can definitely seeing us ordering from them again. They offer poboys, seafood, burgers and steaks. Even though it's on the main road you have to be watching for the building. Once you're there it's uphill all the way! If you're hungry when you get there you will not be once you leave. Food is abundant and good. The staff is awesome! We have never been there when they weren't. It's small inside but the atmosphere is great. Be mindful of the times that they are open. Finally tried this place after hearing all the raves about it. I was initially disappointed after walking in. The place was somewhat small and looked dirty. The staff were not very friendly as some folks stated. It was our first visit there and the table next to us were treated very nicely and even offered complimentary bread pudding. I waited for the same courtesies but they never came. However....the food was excellent to say the least. If the service improved and the place spruced up a bit....you'd have lines to get in! Called in a takeout order from here. Ordered a phillycheese poboy and my wife ordered a shrimp poboy with no tomatoes and pickles. Got home and instead of a Philly got a roast beef poboy. My wife's shrimp poboy had tomatoes and pickles. What we got tasted good but it wasn't what we ordered. I've written 2 reviews for these people. Their food is great! Fresh & good portion size. *They also give you what you ask for. The roast beef poboys are real home cooked roast beef with real (not canned) gravy. Their largest hamburger is wonderful and cooked to order. Fried Okra is wonderful. Hubby and the folks on his job all go there when they can and I order and have it delivered to me in Denham. Definitely worth trying - you won't regret it. read more

It doesn't look like much from the outside, and I expected it to be typical "cooking" of frozen pre-made food from a distributor....but it's not that at all. It's definitely a hole in the wall, but the food is obviously fresh and made onsite. I ordered a chicken-fried steak, and it was delicious, hot, and freshly prepared, with good gravy and sides. So disappointed in Bubbas Grill since new owner took over! Lunch today...50% of our order was incorrect. I got the lunch special (pork chop with red beans and rice) and was told they were out of the red beans. It was 12 pm! How do you run out of your lunch special so early? Pork chop was so over cooked and so over seasoned that it was basically inedible! Parents ordered a hamburger and a chicken sandwich, both of which were dressed incorrectly and when they asked for their order to be fixed, the employee wanted to argue with them and made my dad show his receipt TWICE! My dad got so upset he couldn't even eat his lunch! We absolutely will not be back again! Bet we aren't the only ones feeling this way! read more

I am not sure what happened today. I ordered cheese jalepeno appetizers and they were so burned there was no cheese and we had to toss out of them. And we ordered the more expensive seafood platter, it had 2 shrimp, 2 oysters, soft crabs, a fried wad of etouffe I think, hush puppies and fries. Half of this was also too burned to eat also. I ordered from waitr during Covid 19 pandemic. It took 30 minutes to get a response and I was told the owner would call me and maybe refund the appetizer. This never happened.
