Saw an ad on Facebook and thought it would be a fun place to check out. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They do have a little of the 50's diner vibe but I'm not sure how to explain it but it was almost as if they tried and then stopped.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered a burger, fried chicken sandwich, large fries and a cookies and cream shake. The waitress was cool and helpful. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I will say we went a bit early, a little after 5, and very few people were there. Even when we left around 6, it was still fairly quiet for a Friday night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was well prepared and while not the best burger I've ever had, it was very good. The price points are excellent in a world that thinks a burger should be $20 now! It was a nice change of pace from chain restaurants and if we end up at LSU, I'm sure we will be back.

This review will be on my last 3 visits. This recent visit we all ordered cheeseburgers and fries. The burgers were delicious. Just like they used to be. All 3 visits the fries were nasty. The fryer needs to be cleaned and oil replaced or find a different brand. They taste almost burnt and they come with no salt. My cheeseburger last visit was cold the cheese didn't even melt. At that time I said I would never come back. After years of eating at Dearman's, I finally decided to give up. I'm glad I came back to give it another try. Finally got a good burger! But seriously don't buy the fries they are disgusting!

Let me just start by saying: I know Dearman's is famous for its burgers--but I went rogue and ordered the grilled chicken sandwich, and I have zero regrets. In fact, I might have discovered Dearman's best-kept secret. The sandwich came stacked with juicy grilled chicken, melted pepper jack cheese, perfectly sautéed onions, crisp lettuce, and just the right amount of mayo--all on a soft, golden bun that held it all together like a dream. Every bite was packed with flavor. The chicken was tender and smoky, the cheese added a creamy heat, and the grilled onions tied it all together like a diner symphony. And then there were the fries. Golden, crispy, skin-on, and clearly hand-cut--these weren't just a side dish, they were an experience. Salty, satisfying, and absolutely addictive. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibe inside Dearman's is pure nostalgia with a retro twist--complete with friendly, no-frills service that makes you feel like a regular even if it's your first visit.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If you're a Dearman's loyalist who always goes for the burger, I'm here to tell you: don't sleep on the chicken sandwich. It might just change your order forever.

It's taken me ten years to try Dearman's. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Loved the feel of an old diner.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I've heard their burgers were the best, but they're downright delicious. Many thanks to manager, Justin Barnett, and his staff for being attentive to our wants and needs. We will definitely be back!!!

We had a wonderful breakfast at Simple Joe's Cafe in Baton Rouge!…read more I ordered the shrimp and grits, and it was absolutely delicious--creamy, well-seasoned grits topped with perfectly cooked shrimp and a flavorful sauce that tied everything together beautifully. My husband had an omelette with peppers and bacon, and he really enjoyed it. It was fluffy, generously filled, and cooked just right, with great smoky flavor from the bacon and a nice kick from the peppers. The service was friendly, the food came out quickly, and the whole experience felt warm and welcoming. Definitely a great local spot for a hearty, satisfying meal.

It's Simple as the name suggests…read more Nothing fancy or elaborate about this place. It's a small restaurant with a small open kitchen and a small dining room where you stand in line to place your order, get a number to put on your table, and servers bring the food to your table when it's ready. So, if you're looking for a large upscale, elegant restaurant with elaborate food presentations, this is not the place for you. But if you're looking for a simple, quick and delicious meal, Simple Joe Café is for you. The menu consists of a wide variety of breakfast favorites, but the menu is not intimidating and easy to read and order from. Simple enough. When my family and I arrived, the small dining room was packed with a few open tables and about six other customers in line waiting to place their order. On Saturday and Sunday, you cannot sit at the open tables or hold the tables until you have placed your order and given a tent number. At that point, the servers will help you find a table to accommodate your party. The employees do a very good job of clearing and turning over the tables to make sure everyone is seated and able to enjoy their meal in a timely manner. I am not a fan of breakfast food and normally don't eat breakfast, so I only had coffee while my family enjoyed their meal, so the food quality part of this review is based on what they described as they were eating. They each ordered Joe's Number One Breakfast Combos which came with two eggs, choice of meat and pancakes and they shared an order of hashbrown and a side of grits. The food came out quickly. They stated everything was fresh, prepared and cooked as requested, the food tasted very good and enjoyed every bite. Of course, the coffee was hot, and fresh and the service was fast and friendly. The relaxed ambience and decor add to the unique character of the restaurant. Date of Visit: Saturday 05-16-26 Simple Joe Café | 3057 Government St, Baton Rouge, LA

Last night in Baton Rouge and was looking for a place to have a nice meal before a travel day…read moreahead. The reviews looked promising so I thought... why not? When I arrived it was honestly dead inside. Maybe one other customer and I had to ask if they were still open because it was oddly slow. But you want to know what was not dead? Their food! I ordered a glass of wine and the beef tenderloin cooked medium rare. He steak came with fingerling potatoes and veggies. The steak was seasoned and cooked perfectly, the veggies had a slight crunch and not overcooked and the fingerling potatoes were the perfect add to that dish. I sat at the bar and had the place to myself but overall really enjoyed my food. Friendly staff and very happy with my experience.

Nice place with a good sounding menu. Will go back to try other things. Had the truffle oysters…read morewhich were good but basic. The tuna salmon carpaccio was good, little thrown off as it was warm which had me worried. But it was very good and balanced. The rice puffs were addicting. lobster roll was good even Though it was cold style which is not my favorite but the bread was delicious and they filled it nicely. Just need to provide more butter. Their fries were airy and consistent. The only not good part was the tiramisu and the colada drink. The cookie wafers were too much and too dense. All in all will come back.
