The size of it. It's really tasty. I'm very picky with chili and I loved it.

I love this place! It was my first time. It's so good. Everything is freshly cooked and my new favorite thing- gravy/cheese fries. I'd have given it 5 stars, but the look of disappointment on my hubby's face when there were no strawberries in his milkshake.... Mine was six out of ten!

Food was very good!! The vibes were fun but our food did take a while to get to us. The waitress were very hospitable which made the wait not so bad

Saw an ad on Facebook and thought it would be a fun place to check out. They do have a little of the 50's diner vibe but I'm not sure how to explain it but it was almost as if they tried and then stopped. We ordered a burger, fried chicken sandwich, large fries and a cookies and cream shake. The waitress was cool and helpful. I will say we went a bit early, a little after 5, and very few people were there. Even when we left around 6, it was still fairly quiet for a Friday night. The food was well prepared and while not the best burger I've ever had, it was very good. The price points are excellent in a world that thinks a burger should be $20 now! It was a nice change of pace from chain restaurants and if we end up at LSU, I'm sure we will be back.

    The menu, simple but complete...

Dearman's Diner is a Baton Rouge Tradition! It's been open in the Bocage Village Shopping Center for as long as I've lived here. It's reportedly been in business since 1958. It certainly seems to have embraced the 1950's vibe with the interior! There are white and black checkerboard tiles on the floor, with bright red tiles and accents. The retro branding extends to their logos and menus too. It's like a visit to yesteryear. The menu offerings are also classic diner fare, and include a variety of old-time soda fountain offerings. There are floats, shakes, malts, and even phosphates. The food includes hot plates, sandwiches, burgers, and salads, but is simple enough to fit on one page. These offerings are grilled or prepared fresh and served hot. I suggest a simple BLT or one of their old style burgers. The seating area is ample and there are a couple of tables outside as well. The waitstaff are are prompt and friendly. It's definitely a modern take on an old timey experience, and what's not to like about that.

This review will be on my last 3 visits. This recent visit we all ordered cheeseburgers and fries. The burgers were delicious. Just like they used to be. All 3 visits the fries were nasty. The fryer needs to be cleaned and oil replaced or find a different brand. They taste almost burnt and they come with no salt. My cheeseburger last visit was cold the cheese didn't even melt. At that time I said I would never come back. After years of eating at Dearman's, I finally decided to give up. I'm glad I came back to give it another try. Finally got a good burger! But seriously don't buy the fries they are disgusting!

Let me just start by saying: I know Dearman's is famous for its burgers--but I went rogue and ordered the grilled chicken sandwich, and I have zero regrets. In fact, I might have discovered Dearman's best-kept secret. The sandwich came stacked with juicy grilled chicken, melted pepper jack cheese, perfectly sautéed onions, crisp lettuce, and just the right amount of mayo--all on a soft, golden bun that held it all together like a dream. Every bite was packed with flavor. The chicken was tender and smoky, the cheese added a creamy heat, and the grilled onions tied it all together like a diner symphony. And then there were the fries. Golden, crispy, skin-on, and clearly hand-cut--these weren't just a side dish, they were an experience. Salty, satisfying, and absolutely addictive. The vibe inside Dearman's is pure nostalgia with a retro twist--complete with friendly, no-frills service that makes you feel like a regular even if it's your first visit. If you're a Dearman's loyalist who always goes for the burger, I'm here to tell you: don't sleep on the chicken sandwich. It might just change your order forever.

It's taken me ten years to try Dearman's. Loved the feel of an old diner. I've heard their burgers were the best, but they're downright delicious. Many thanks to manager, Justin Barnett, and his staff for being attentive to our wants and needs. We will definitely be back!!!

It's Simple as the name suggests…read more Nothing fancy or elaborate about this place. It's a small restaurant with a small open kitchen and a small dining room where you stand in line to place your order, get a number to put on your table, and servers bring the food to your table when it's ready. So, if you're looking for a large upscale, elegant restaurant with elaborate food presentations, this is not the place for you. But if you're looking for a simple, quick and delicious meal, Simple Joe Café is for you. The menu consists of a wide variety of breakfast favorites, but the menu is not intimidating and easy to read and order from. Simple enough. When my family and I arrived, the small dining room was packed with a few open tables and about six other customers in line waiting to place their order. On Saturday and Sunday, you cannot sit at the open tables or hold the tables until you have placed your order and given a tent number. At that point, the servers will help you find a table to accommodate your party. The employees do a very good job of clearing and turning over the tables to make sure everyone is seated and able to enjoy their meal in a timely manner. I am not a fan of breakfast food and normally don't eat breakfast, so I only had coffee while my family enjoyed their meal, so the food quality part of this review is based on what they described as they were eating. They each ordered Joe's Number One Breakfast Combos which came with two eggs, choice of meat and pancakes and they shared an order of hashbrown and a side of grits. The food came out quickly. They stated everything was fresh, prepared and cooked as requested, the food tasted very good and enjoyed every bite. Of course, the coffee was hot, and fresh and the service was fast and friendly. The relaxed ambience and decor add to the unique character of the restaurant. Date of Visit: Saturday 05-16-26 Simple Joe Café | 3057 Government St, Baton Rouge, LA

Instead, I was trying to meet a friend for lunch and he was so late that we couldn't get in where were trying to go. I saw the sign and off we went to Simple Joe Cafe. Simple, it is. Awesome food, it also is. This place is not fancy nor is it meant to be. This is a solidly Americana type menu and ordering at the counter, serving your own coffee, and picking your own table kind of place. AKA - the kind of place I love. I have been here a few times now and only had breakfast. Hint: they serve it all day. The two meat omelet is a great choice and has been my go-to. The other day some friends got burgers and a club sandwich and those looked great too. This will definitely be in the rotation for lunch.

We arrived on a Sunday at 11:45am. So right in the middle of the brunch rush. We were quoted a35 minute wait but was seated sooner. We ordered lunch. Jack was our server. He made some excellent recommendations!! The chicken pot pie had a kick to if so fyi....Everything was delicious!! Turns out we got and order of the boudin pie instead of the crawfish pie but it was delicious! He did bring us out a crawfish pie to try (not pictured) and it was also excellent!! The red beans and rice were the best I've had. And I've done a red beans and rice tour in NOLA and this was the best I've had!! We rounded out our meal with the Eye of the Tiger pie. And holey moley!!! The best finish to our meal!! They also have a great craft beer selection on draft. The only downside to this place is the parking is not great and there are only two bathrooms that are unisex. But heck....I'll be back every time I visit BR!!
