I went in for caramel balayage and what I received was BRASSY, UNEVEN SLOPPY highlights! I returned to the salon the same day and expressed my discontent with my hair. The stylist said she could lighten it or have an all over color done. I chose to have the all over color as I did not want to damage my hair again. The all over color was free of charge. I called the manager and asked if I could get refunded, even just the difference between the balayage and the single color. I paid $130 to have my hair look the same as it did before BUT now DAMAGED and PATCHY because of the areas that were lightened. I will now have to continue coloring my hair when it fades. Came in for your basic wash/cut/blowdry. 5 stars for my stylist Brandon alone - he did a great job and I'm really happy with my haircut. Docking two stars for inconsistent communication re: charges. Kind of shady, IMHO. I called ahead of time and asked if there was a long hair charge (this one often gets me!) and was told they do not and had recently done away with that policy. I was quoted $50 dollars for the wash/cut/blowdry, and my sister who got the same deal was charged $40. Clearly there's some sort of charge, because my sister had shorter hair to begin with. My stylist also curled my hair at the end of my haircut, which I loved and felt so fancy about... until I learned when it came time to pay that it was an extra $10 (so $60 total). Wasn't informed of that before he started curling my hair, and had I known I would have saved the money. Should also be noted that my sister had a negative experience overall - different stylist who did not listen to what she asked for and cut her hair several inches shorter than she requested. Pretty nice salon overall - very well maintained with friendly and thoughtful stylists. Again, Brandon was great and I'd recommend him. read more

Went in for a Bob cut and balayage with blonde, walked out with orange hair! I was way over charged (paid $350) and my hair was already short! Scheduled one more time since I was told it might not take the first time, charged me again $300 just for the same results, orange hair! The balayage did not even look good at all. It looked like chunky streaks my kid drew on. Will never go there again! Beyond mad when I called and talked to the manager and all she cared about was her stylist getting paid, which I did NOT care about because she messed up my hair horribly! My hair is now beyond damaged and it will take a very long time to go back to the way it was. I do not recommend them to anyone. read more

I went to get my hair done yesterday with Sarah, she was lovely! I wanted blonde highlights and violet purple low lights. I absolutely LOVE the color. Unfortunately I had worked a very long shift before my appt so I was extremely tired, and opted out of a blow dry because I was just ready to go home and pass out. Anyway, she told me that since we weren't blow drying we wouldn't see the true color, so if I got home and decided once it had dried that I wanted any changes done, to just give her a call. So this was my fault for opting out of a blow dry, but seeing that I'm superrrr pale and added a dark violet, I'm feeling like I need just a littttlleee more blonde just to soften/lighten it up a bit. I called and explained that it looks great and she did exactly what I wanted, I just need like maybe 4 or 5 more highlights in to brighten it, and that I would prefer to do it with Sarah again because she did such a great job. They were totally cool/understanding about it, and I scheduled an appt this week with Sarah so we can touch it up. Another good thing is that normally when you go to the salon for one thing, they try to add on all of this extra crap and make you think you need it. That being said, I told her I wanted a tiny trim just to help my hair grow faster because I'm trying to grow it back out after I made an impulsive decision and had 9 inches cut off over the summer. After working with my hair a bit she explained she'd be more than happy to do the trim, but my hair wasn't showing any signs of split ends/breakage & appeared to be growing healthily. So we decided not to trim it, which in return saved me some money! Highly recommend this salon, especially Sarah! Will add a picture of the finished product once we're done! read more

I'm thrilled with my hair cut! Tina was wonderful, providing a helpful consultation and the perfect cut. She also took the time to give me styling tips. I'm very picky about my hair, and it's been tough to find a stylist I trust... but thankfully, I found Tina. I couldn't be happier! Update: I'm continuing to book appointments with Tina on a regular basis. The front desk staff are sometimes unorganized and provide inaccurate information on availability. I still go to Tina because she does such amazing work. read more

I was in a car accident - whiplash/concussion - and I need help washing my hair. I was in the area so I stopped in to see if they would do it. (Some places won't and/or are incredibly rude when asked for a wash without a style.) But, Sarah was incredible. I want her to always wash my hair. And I will stop in for trims or just to tell her how amazing she is whenever I'm in the area again. read more

I used to go to bubbles as a teen at the lake Forest mall, then we moved and I found a new stylist, well several over the years. They just hired an amazing stylist who does the best color even on super picky me...she goes the extra mile to make sure you love your hair no matter what it takes. Kara Wirls is the best! Got the worst haircut of my life a few weeks ago here. Was told my cut came with a "free deep conditioner" which entailed being placed under the dryer for 5 mins... Stylist forgot about me and I was under there for 15 mins. Fried my hair- it hasn't felt the same since. Asked to add more layers in my hair... Stylist basically made one blunt line row of hair about an inch from the bottom of my hair, and that was it. I didn't realize how bad it was at the time bc of how it was styled (which also was not what I asked for- I said I wanted it straightened and they curled the ends). All in all it cost $65 for all this that I could have had done 100x better at my normal place for $40. My usual place was closed and I was desperate. I will not be returning here though. read more

I felt so compelled to write a review to rave about Sandra! I have been to various 'best of Frederick salons,' beauty schools, referred salons and have even went into Virginia to some upscale salons. I have never been happier with my hair as I am now. I went into Bubbles With some hesitation because no one has ever left me completely satisfied with my hair, until now! From the moment I explained to Sandra what I wanted she was upfront with what we could pull off from the photo I showed her. She far surpassed my expectations and nailed it! My husbands reaction was: 'did you have her write down exactly what she did and colors she used?' When I told him no, he said I should call her and make sure she puts it in my profile. Lol. It will be my go-to salon from now on. The entire experience was superb! I've already scheduled my next visit. I am IN LOVE with my hair! Thank you Sandra, so much!! read more

I went in asking for cut recommendations and said I'd like to also do something fun with color. I needed my face waxed also. I really only need to do my brows but I love how smooth my lip and chin feel so I do them at the same time. The hairstylist was unimpressive with her ideas and very conservative. so I left with a decent haircut and no roots but uninspired color. I like that I could have coffee while I waited and the ambiance is pretty. The stylist kept mentioning that I didn't need my lip or chin done. And I kept saying how I just like to have a smooth face. well, she seriously didn't think I needed it done. She felt okay about charging me for a job that was not done. I will not be back for either a haircut or waxing because of how bad the wax job was. There were hairs on both my lip and chin and she did not even try to use tweezers to help it out. I didn't realize how unsmooth I felt until I left. too bad. This was my first haircut/wax in the area and she could have had my business with no competition. Instead I'm going to give my husband a go at cutting my hair and coloring it with e-Salon color. read more

I have been going to Bubbles for a few years now just for haircuts. I've worked with two different stylists there and both have been excellent. Recently, I decided to treat myself to a color, but I wasn't really sure what I wanted (which was pretty unfair to my poor stylist!). So, my stylist made some suggestions and did a great job applying the base color and highlights we chose. I'm not an incredibly picky person usually, but, unfortunately, on me, these colors just didn't look right. My husband was very unhappy and I kept cringing when I looked in the mirror, so I called the next morning. They got me in right away even though it was a Saturday. My stylist was very professional about the whole thing. She redid my highlights and toned down the color so that it would suit me better--all free of charge!! I am so grateful to Bubbles because I don't think just any salon would've done this! read more

I went to Bubbles in hopes of trimming my scraggly ends into a longer bob. I met my stylist and showed them a few pictures of what I wanted. We discussed length, and I told them that I didn't want my hair to be cut past my shoulders so that I could still put it up and curl it. I noticed something was off when they started scrubbing my scalp, I enjoy a nice massage as much as the next person but when my head moves from the force I find it unwanted. I ended up with a one length bob that ends just right below my chin- I can barely pin it all back. I'm frustrated because I received this even though I specifically asked that it be kept at my shoulders. I was hoping to avoid this by showing a few pictures but unfortunately felt as though my voice wasn't heard at all. I noticed great reviews from other people, and it seemed that others in the salon were enjoying their experience. I don't want to discourage others from going here, but do it at your own risk. read more
