This park is dangerous. There are homeless people that live right outside of the park in the woods that regularly come in and use our showers and pools. They bike thru the park and steal things. Also there is no security gate. They advertise this but that is false The lawn service is sub par Just drive around the park and notice it. They dont weed eat and they don't blow off debris Therse are over a 1000 homes in this park and they collect over a million dollars a month I am sick of the real estate people that are complaining because they cant sell houses You know what If this shit wAS FIXED HOMES WOULD SELL. read more

Lori P is right about the landscapers, the lots look TERRIBLE. When I first moved in the park looked really nice, not so much anymore....At one point, we received a letter from the office that any and all hurricane repairs would need to be completed within 30 days, or we would have to surrender the title. I got mine done, but a house across the street from me is still boarded up, and one behind me has been sitting in disrepair since the hurricane. Having recently had some serious financial issues, I could not pay the lot rent - I received a letter stating that if I did not pay the rent within 5 days, I would need to surrender the property. Since I did not and would not have the funds, I made arrangements to move out BEFORE the 5 days. I went to the office to turn in the title, and the lady at the office told me "that's not how it's done". ????? Not how what is done???? I followed the instructions in the letter, and BTW, I lived in Buccaneer for SIXTEEN years.... I have not heard ANYTHING from the management office since I moved out. read more

This was a pretty decent place to live in March 2019, but it has gone completly downhill. Currently the grass has not been mowed in 4 months. Almost all Homeowners activities on site involoving cooking have been cancelled as kitchens are not up to code. It used to be a gated community but after Ian the gates are open day and night. I purchased my home for $23K and right now I would be lucky to get $5K. There are a lot of nice people here and I do like my home but the management absolutely sucks. read more

The lawn people destroyed my canopy. The response was attempted eviction's. Michelle the managers response is to try to evict me. They took away the RV storage, pickleball, and the HOA office. It's more in line with a prison camp. Avoid this toxic place at all cost. There haven't been gates for 4 years. There are no fire hydrants in the older part of the park. There are serious issues and concerns regarding the Buccaneer Estates property in North Fort Myers, FL. Issues and concerns that need immediate attention from someone other than the current hired staff that oversees the property at present. The reason for this outside intervention is the outright, disrespect and threatening behavior that this staff has shown towards the homeowners and residents. There have been numerous altercations between staff and residents about numerous different issues. 1. Gated community... the front entrance gate has been wide open for almost a year. When it is closed, there are residents that are not able to use the resident side because they were not given a key card. Unfortunately using the guest side doesn't do any good either since their phone # is not in the system to allow guest entrance access. Despite requests to office staff. Unacceptable!! To actually have a homeowner unable to access their home unless they call a neighbor to open the gate. Back entrance gate.... Sporadic usage at best for most residents. 2. Pool heaters are off and on and will take weeks to address. 3. Mailboxes.... At least 50% of the mailboxes are damaged OR missing entirely. Prospectus says the park is responsible for replacement (they must all be the same) when we call we are told we must replace them but we have to choose what they want. 4. Grounds.... Inconsistent lawn and tree care. 5. Fencing.... was recent just completed (2023) but took constant asking 6. Sewage pump.... Continuously runs and on the main street in the community. Constant sewage smell. 7. Inconsistent access to the hospitality house and club house, gym or access to their amenities. 8. Parking.... Refusal to allow guests to park in the public parking lots. This make it impossible to have guests, as residents have been threatened to have vehicles towed if they are not in driveways. Where exactly are guest supposed to park? 9. Communication with park management AND ELS as a whole. Emails go unanswered, phone calls go unanswered, voicemails go unanswered. Certified letters go unaddressed. 10. Disrespect, rudeness and threats by management. Being told to "get a lawyer" when change of rules are made. Being told vehicles will be towed if not in driveway. Being told evictions will be made if rules are not followed. 11. Refusal to take care of issues with contracted companies such as trash or lawn care. Residents DO NOT get a bill from either of those businesses. Those charges are included in lot rent. Therefore when a problem arises, it is the responsibility of the person/company that pays the bill, to take care of it. 12. Emails and threats to call police and/or evict residents. People that OWN their homes, people who are being ignored, disrespected, dismissed and threatened when they try to speak with office staff. This behavior is outrageous and offensive. Residents will start calling police on office staff to begin records of such behavior. A example of one such email will be included with this letter. These are just a few , on a long list of issues. As to Hurricane Ian.... During cleanup, a resident was able to get a group of FEMA volunteers to help the community gather debris and help with tarps. They were told to leave and were threatened with having the police called on them.... Street signs are still down. Front gates are still broken. Fencing is still gone. Landscaping is.... Embarrassing. Office hours are sporadic, a couple hours a day. When they are there the door is locked and staff yells through the door. What exactly are you paying your staff to do? they are giving residents 6 Month repair and damage. This is not realistic. People are still dealing with insurance, fema, banks, sba for funding to do the repairs. There's also the issue of available contractors. Considering half the state has severe damage, fixing a carport or lanai... just isn't top priority. In closing, the staff have expectations of behavior and responsibilities for all residents in Buccaneer Estates, residents also have expectations for staff behavior and responsibilities. We expect to live in a respectful, harassment free environment. We do not expect to be threatened with eviction or police or told to hire a lawyer when trying to express our concerns. We expect ELS's staff to behave respectfully but they don't. It is now 2 years with no security gate. read more

I have been trying to get these people to update my phone # in their system since October of 2022 (2 emails, 3 voicemail and 1 actually speakingto someone). Still hasn't happened. The office employees border on absolute incompetence. Please note... gate access goes directly to your phone # on file. All important notices go directly to your phone # on file. DO NOT buy any property in this community... unless you're OK with not having access to your home unless you call a neighbor. Not receiving important notices. Several lot rent increases per year. I have been living here for 2 years now. The people are nice and the neighborhood is well kept. Most people are 55 years and older. Plenty of fish in the pond if your into fishing. Catch and release only. This is a quiet gated community, especially after 9 pm. Most people have golf carts are drive around non stop, which is a fun thing to do when you are older. Downtown Fort Myers is only 10 minutes away with plenty to do and tons of restaurants. Pine Island and Fort Myers beach are about 35 mins away. The amenities here included billiards, fitness center, 3 pools, 2 clubhouses, shuffleboard, pickleball and horseshoes. Walmart and home depot only 2 minutes away. This place defiantly has the most affordable units around. The new manager is the best we ever had and she is getting a lot done. They have recently added 300 brand new units ion the back. They do have social events for everyone which included food and drink. Thanksgiving was the best event I have ever attended with so much food you couldn't even try everything. 3 turkeys. 12 pies. 4 cakes. 5 stuffing's. 5 cranberries. Plus much more. read more

The lot rents are super high, 1000+-1200+ per month. Gate broke prior to Ian, still not fixed, so it is NOT gated. Felons live there. They do not check on who is living there, so many are not registered, except for the primary home owner. The manager, Jennifer, is quite rude. Many have complained about her. It went downhill in the last 10 years. I feel sorry for the people who live there, rents keep going up. read more

I purchased a manufacture home in this community in January 2023. Its a very nice community. The lot rent includes, water, lawn care, garbage pick up. I am very impressed with the level of lawn care service. They even do the weeds. The pools and clubhouse is very nice. Mainly the neighboors are very, very nice. its a quiet community and perfect for retirement. Close to restaurants, shopping, i think Walmart is less than 3 miles. The only reason anyone should purchase here is if they like to be misled regarding the amenities. They charge some of the highest lot rates in the area. Construction vehicles were running 30 to 50 trucks a day at one point, speeding through the development without regard of resident safety or noise levels. The security gate has been open and broken for 2 years. The hot tub hardly ever works because there are usually homeless people that use it for bathing... Before you consider moving into this community I would take a deep dive into it look at some of the houses in there and do a background on the staff they raise the rent 2 times per year they do not finish what they promise they say it's a gated community which it is but the fence that they promised to install to keep out the homeless from staying in vacant homes and the prostitution out has not been finished they allow owner to rent their home without having the renters go through a proper background check like the residents it has poor management. read more
