Again, the cost is so much better than the only place similar in gymnastics facilities (DU). Also, the staff is incredible and super flexible. And, you can have up to 30 children, which is way better than at any other gym. I highly recommend!

It's also got a deep end so the kids can learn to dive, something our kids hadn't been able to do in some other Lakewood pools. When we had to reschedule or cancel lessons, Jaime the manager was always very friendly and flexible, offering convenient make up lessons, etc.

I was thrilled when I pulled in and saw the parking lot almost completely empty, thinking we had finally picked a quiet time to swim. Unfortunately, those hopes were quickly dashed when we were told we couldn't enter the pool because it was already "at capacity" based on the number of lifeguards on duty. Given the nearly empty parking lot, it seemed to be a staffing issue rather than the pool actually being crowded. Unfortunately, this is just one of several frustrating experiences we've had at this rec center. My 6-year-old's lips turn blue after spending more than about 20 minutes in the main pool because of how cold it is. The only area that is really appropriate for him to practice swimming is adult-only for the majority of the day, with only a very limited window for children--and during that window, we're now being told the pool is at capacity. We've also had multiple negative interactions with both front desk staff and lifeguards who have been unnecessarily rude and unhelpful. A previous reviewer made an assessment that I now completely agree with: if you're an older adult, this rec center may be a great fit, as the programming and pool schedules seem heavily geared toward adults. If you have a young family and are looking for a place to work out and swim with your children, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

I've come here, off and on, for years to work out and swim. The locker rooms are reasonably clean and all the gym equipment is well maintained and it all works. The climbing wall is always a lot of fun and a great upper body workout. The only reason I didn't give this a five star rating is that it's often extremely crowded and the children running, screaming and acting the fool can be hard on my nerves. Plus, I think the pool is a touch too warm. I'm a Southern California girl and pools are for cooling off. Swimming in warm bath water just makes me tired and hot. Your mileage may vary.

In just one 30 minute lesson she was so much more comfortable in the water and actually started learning that very first day. After two months (once a week, 30 minutes each) she's able to do so much more, such as floating unsupported on her back, proper kicks and a fairly decent overhand stroke. The instructor is patient and skilled with young children. We're thrilled with the progress we've seen in our granddaughter as well as the other children in her class.

He has helpful, friendly & had a great attitude. It's a shame how much turn over & the quality has gone downhill. The pool is always closed, the e gym takes up so much space in an already small gym. This summer camp has gone way down hill and unfortunately the management of the childcare program…read moredoesn't seem to care. The managers are not on site, and rarely, if ever, visited the location last summer. We have gone to camp here for four consecutive summers. Previously the summer camp was AMAZING. Under the care of Ms Isabel, who unfortunately left in June of 2024, the camp was well run, the campers and staff all seemed happy, and for kids like my son who have more difficulty in social settings, they did a great job with accommodations. We recruited all of our friends to join us at the camp, and things rapidly fell apart. Fast forward to Summer of 2024 after Isabel left, the camp was a disaster. I was able to leave with my kids without telling anyone, they rarely had the sign out system that worked so no one knew who was able to pick up the kids anyway. Our friends pulled their kids from camp after severe bullying and our kids were out in 100+ degree heat for hours several days a week having unorganized time. Just recently, as we were trying to make a pivot for out of school days to another option, my son was "lost" for an hour before anyone realized he wasn't in his group. He was sent home for going inside because his counselor couldn't find him. When I was called they told me he wandered outside but in reality he went inside and sat by the managers office for an hour before anyone approached him. The next day he was forced to play a game (he's autistic and noise is an issue for him and we have accommodations in place for this sort of thing) or told that he would have to be picked up by me. He was hit from behind and hit the floor, ultimately breaking his front two teeth. When I was called, the counselor made it seem like no big deal and told me he "may have chipped a tooth" which in actuality resulted in emergency dental surgery. Long story short, this will cost us thousands of dollars, and I can't even get an email back from the YMCA to see what next steps are, or to cancel my membership. Other friends have been tempted to call CPS due to the lack of regard these young counselors have for the kids. They may be affordable for camp, but with the sign up just around the corner, I needed to say my piece. I don't feel safe with my kids at this location and can't imagine they will get it together in time for summer with the amount of competent adults they have lost over the years.

Arrived MANY times for our scheduled lessons to find out the club was closed unannounced. Now, our swimmer no longer goes to this swim club but they still continue to take money from our account even after SEVERAL attempts to contact them about this matter. Next steps will be to take further legal action to recover our money. This place does not run a professional business and I would be very careful on your decision of taking your child here for quality lessons and customer service!!!
