When my dog was suddenly experiencing problems with his knee (limping, not wanting to walk more…read morethan a few steps) I was told it was due to a condition called "Luxating Patella", which would likely require surgery. I was referred by a local vet to Dr. Saundra Hewitt at the West Toronto Veterinary Surgery office. I found Dr. Hewitt to be extremely friendly and showed a very genuine care and concern for my dog. She examined him, asked me all kinds of questions related to his activity level, his eating habits, etc. and then took great care in explaining to me what he was experiencing with his knee. She said that although she could correct his knee with surgery, it wasn't really necessary at this stage, especially given the uncomfortable recovery. It's so refreshing to have a surgeon really consider the dog first, rather than just say, "He needs surgery" just because it CAN be an option. The cost of surgery is always a consideration, of course, and if you aren't prepared for it, can really be an issue for some. Nobody wants to fork over thousands of dollars for something that isn't absolutely necessary, so I was really relieved to hear that my dog would be fine without surgery. In the couple of weeks since my appointment with Dr. Hewitt, my dog has recovered very nicely, from which she suggested was more than likely just a bad sprain. The knee condition was more of an underlying issue that he can live with comfortably for many more years. My dog is now back to his normal self, walking and running around like he used to.

They explained that they only have one doctor on staff till 8am so we may have wait a little. We got there at 8:35am and was greeted by the receptionist. This person had ZERO personality or compassion for our fears and concerns and we stood there for 10 minutes filling out their precious forms while our dog sat there crying. These people need some serious lessons on how to communicate and deal with people experiencing the fear and worry of a sick pet. Before we were even brought into a triage room, they made sure to charge us with the ~$255 assessment fee. We were brought into a triage room and told that the technician would be with us shortly. It was ONE HOUR AND FIFTY-FIVE MINUTES before someone finally came to check on us. "Triage" is NOT the right word for whatever that was. The technician was with us for five minutes asking questions and then she said, "The doctor will be with you shortly" and she left the room. Another 25 minutes passed before the technician returned and asked if they can bring our dog into the back so they could do their assessment. STILL NO VET. This is NOT emergency vet service. This is an understaffed walk-in vet clinic. After a 10 minute assessment, our dog was brought back into us and the vet spent 10 minutes explaining what they felt was wrong. She was very clear in the steps they recommended and VERY clear on the costs for each of those recommendations. Evan after agreeing to two prescriptions, she left to type up the summary and write the 'scripts. That was another 35 minute wait, all the while our dog is crying and whimpering in pain. Do you and your precious pet a favor and AVOID THIS PLACE. Zero personality, zero consideration for the animals, zero communication, zero compassion, zero, zero, zero. What a scam. Run. Avoid. Go elsewhere.

The one on her belly had grown and I was hoping to book her in for surgery to have it removed. The vet took her into a room, does an exam on her and tells me this is a very unhealthy dog...he wanted to do x-rays. After that was done, he brings me into a room to show me the pictures...he tells me her heart and liver are very inflammed. He recommended I have needle biopsies done to see what the lumps are...he suspects Cancer...couldn't tell me enough that my dog was very sick. I left her with him to get the biopsies done. After spending $800.00 on biopsies, he calls me to come get her and tells me the results were inconclusive. I brought her home and she was so out of it, she couldn't lift her head. I thought she was going to die..I rushed her to an emergency vet who hooked her up to IV right away..she was EXTREMELY dehydrated. I told him about her X-ray...he said her heart sounds fine...it's not something he would have considered even looking at..he was confused as to why the needle biopsies were even done...especially on her mammary glands considering she had just finished her heat cycle. I took her back to her regular vet...I had moved and it was a bit of a drive...but at this point I was confused. Turns out they were pretty confused too. Her heart and liver were HEALTHY!! She had her tummy lump removed...it biopsied clear of Cancer. This office took me for a few thousand dollars and HURT MY DOG!! MY EMAIL ADDRESS IS JULIEGAMBLE618@GMAIL.COM if you want to reach out and talk to me about what happened. As far as I'm concerned you owe me the money I gave you AND the money for the emergency vet after you almost killed my dog!

There are no words to express how thankful we are for his help in making our farewell to Dutchess as peaceful & beautiful as possible. From the time he and his colleague Amanda arrived at our home, they were completely professional but genuinely caring. We had expressed our wishes to Dr Walia regarding Dutchess and our hope for her passing peacefully at home. Oct. 22, 2018 Dr Walia came to our home to help us follow through on that promise, his strength and compassion was what got us through such a difficult time. Dr Walia is the "True Essence" of a vet and we highly recommend him and his staff to anyone with a fur baby. God bless you Dr. Walia and thank you once again. Al & Donna Ramelan

This is my second pet that I have had to take to MOVH and I am honestly so grateful for the love,…read morecare and compassion we have experienced with MOVH. My first dog was really ill and we underwent extensive treatment with him from May-Oct 2023. We literally felt a part of the MOVH family as we were there weekly for his treatment. Yes it was expensive, but my family vet was honestly more expensive, so I have since changed from them. Our Beamer boy was eventually laid to rest but I couldn't be happier with how informed and educated we were throughout his journey. Every follow-up call and check-in and even the cards signed by staff softened the traumatic blow of loosing our boy! We will forever be thankful to Dr Rutland, Dr Brown and the Internal medicine team for everything they did to make a tough situation, a pleasant experience. My second dog unexpectantly suffered from a herniated disk and was in excruciating pain. After seeing our family vet, we rushed her to see the Neurology department at MOVH. They attended to her immediately and hospitalized her over night as she received more tests and underwent an MRI. She has since had surgery and is now at home recovering wonderfully. We are so grateful to Dr Duque and the neurology department for attending to Sadie as quickly as they did and for checking in on us daily! We would choose MOVH again and again because of these experiences and acts of LOVE!

The neurologist's assistant came to us and kept pressuring us to euthanize our cat on the spot. Mind you, the cat was young, active, playing, there was NO need to put him down. Since then, my cat has started gabapentin (a medication that they didn't even BOTHER took prescribed) and his tremors are essentially eliminated. Not sure if they just wanted the $ but it was WORST experience I have ever had. Every vet I have spoken to since this experience has told us this was terrible advice and the cat is healthy, and even thinking about putting him down would have been silly.
