Very well-kept grounds and the waterfront views and activities are wonderful features in Central Ohio. 30-40 minutes from Columbus, this has become one of my favorite outdoor locations. You can book available cabins online. Minimum stay is 2 nights. Check in is 4 pm. Check out is 11 am. Cabin is well laid out with 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, living room, small kitchen, and screen porch. There is heat. Linens are provided but I would suggest bringing your own for comfort. Kitchen has small electric stove, microwave, refrigerator, toaster, coffee maker. Dishes, pans, utensils, mugs are provided. Cabin had a television with Direct TV which turned out to be a nice surprise once we found a channel showing movies. Great experience renting a cabin for 2 nights. May need to downgrade this review to 2-3 stars if there really were bed bugs though. (Tip: take your own linens and put them directly in a hot clothes dryer for 30 minutes before washing. This will kill the insects)

It's a great place to bring family. My brother and his family. Total occupants: 2 kids under the age of 8, my daughter (17), 4 adults. The master bedroom had a queen sized bed with a small vanity area. One open closet and an iron and board. The second bedroom has a bunk bed and a full mattress on the bottom bunk. Next to that was a twin bed. Also had a vanity and open closet. One bathroom with standing shower, sink, and commode. They provided towels and linens. Each bed had sheets and comforter. Living room had a trundle couch. Flat screen tv with directv. Kitchen had a refrigerator though very small, the stove with an oven, coffeemaker toaster & sink with running water. cabinets had some dishes and pots and pans and utensils. Small table with the bench. Although compact still have all the resources you needed to make a meal. Back porch was screened in with a picnic table. There was also a rocking chair and two other chairs. Outside in the fire pit area was two picnic tables as well. The barbecue was a standard outdoor barbecue pit area. There are a lot of spiders by the door however you were out in the woods. So they weren't invasive at all, however, was scary to look at every time you walk in and out. The weather was nice although it didn't rain it was still comfortable. Lots to do on that trail hike as well really close. There was also play area with swings and a Bocce court. Another thing was that we stayed in a pet friendly cottage. All of the carpets were not perfect, however, they were not smelly at all. Very clean for the location. Would definitely stay there again! We stayed in cottage #12. I would like to try cottage 18 or 19 just because it had a Lakeview. However those may not be pet friendly.

We reserved one of the full hookup sites online and stayed at the end of September 2025. The online…read morereservation site has all the details on lot size, electricity info, distance to showers, etc. However, it's limited in showing different dates, which is frustrating. Anyway, the check-in time is 3pm and check-out is 1pm. We paid fifty-three dollars per night for two adults and one dog, with a six fifty reservation charge. Check-in was easy, and the attendant was helpful; you just drive up to the office, check-in and go on your way. The layout is similar to a subdivision with cul-de-sacs and each spot having its own little yard, making it feel somewhat like camping in the woods. Our neighbors were quiet and most vehicles drove slowly. Everyone we met was pleasant and friendly. The camp itself was clean and easy to hook up. Bathrooms and showers were clean and there was plenty of toilet paper. Large trash bins were available along with gray water stations. The only thing I'd suggest is for the site identifiers to be repainted, as several had faded over time. We visited the beach, but didn't go swimming, given the temperature. The pond is catch and release and seemed maintained and not stagnant. The budget limitations need to be considered before passing judgment. We used bug spray every day and that seemed to help keep the bugs away. The site we booked had a level surface and plenty of room to back in. The water and electrical were easily accessible and worked fine. A lot of campers used an inline water filter. The water quality report is on the park website for anyone interested. The grass was well trodden, making a camp rug a must-have. There was also a fire pit with a grill attached, but we didn't use it to cook. Also, at the time, there wasn't a burn ban. Overall it was an enjoyable experience and we'll definitely return. It was fun to walk down the aisles and see all the setups and decorations and note future camp site options. How many campers are long-timers, it's hard to tell. But we were pleased and our dog loved exploring on our walks.

There were a few different food trucks lined up as well. I'll likely bring swim shoes next time because I didn't enjoy feeling the bottom of the creek, but I had a fun time floating around and lounging on the shore.

It's a huge packed area with few trees, borders hard to discern and tightly packed. I would recommend getting a spot on one the little dead ends with trees and not 1,000 people. The area the park has on the lake is not very appealing tbh. The nature center was a good diversion and they also had movie night and mid day crafts available at the pavilion. I'd give those a 5*.

The campsites are a good size and are all in the woods, which we prefer. The bathrooms are super simple, but the women's restrooms are impressively clean. My husband did say that the men's restrooms were pretty much unusable though. I have not used the showers, so I can't speak to those. The price is good and I am happy to support a state park. We also haven't gone down to the lake or used any of the other park amenities yet, but look forward to trying them out. Each campsite has a firing and a picnic table and a paved driveway, perfect for our truck top tent. My only complaint so far is that the last time we stayed, there was a dog who truly barked without ceasing the entire time, with the exception of quiet hours because it was taken inside to sleep. I understand the dogs are allowed in the campground and that they bark, but we weren't able to relax, and the campground wasn't peaceful because the barking was that bad. I do wish there was some sort of policy for this. However, this won't deter us from coming back because I do believe it was a coincidence.
