Sad to say......... Buck failed........ MISERABLY!!! Our family has been buying buck knives for three generations. Getting a 505 was a right of passage living in the northwest. As a young boy, I chose to put the money towards my horse, instead of getting the knife. When it came time to get one my life had been flipped upside down and I no longer lived in the country. That was 39 years ago... Recently, I returned to the country to see my great grandma before she passed at 97. As a memento, I first ordered two kitchen knives, beautiful elk handles. Arrived with no problems. So, I decided to order another knife.... Conflicted on which knife to get, the classic 110 or the 505, I never got as a young boy...So, I ordered one knife and another a few days later, two separate orders. The first(knife1)was a custom 110 water buffalo handle. It arrived with cracked buffalo and didn't align. Also, it had no finger grooves, like the one I ordered, and sent back. Didn't have the proper blade either. The next one, was chipped and the custom handle was short. As a result, the lazy assembler put grease in the gap as a poor filling attempt. Didn't work. The knife went back...again. I wasn't asking for anything special, just the product they offered. Finally, the last knife was sent to warranty and not the assembler. I had a perfect knife three days later. I love it. I asked warranty about my 505 ordered and wanted to ensure the same issue didn't happen again. She said she couldn't do anything about one in production, which was reasonable. Finally, the 505(knife2)arrived with the custom water buffalo handle crooked and off center causing the inlay to point out and up on one side. The other side, was high on one side low on the other. It was mailed back, with a note written on the original card saying, the assembler needed firing for poor work on multiple occasions. It was the same assembler as my previous custom 110 water buffalo knife. SURPRISE! The knife was sent back. When it returned, the 505 was in worse shape. It was cracked on both sides, chipped on the corner. The water buffalo handle had been shortened and once again grease was put in the gap. Also, the card that I had written on was returned, with a smiley face. I spent a week emailing Buck, no response. Finally, I called and called and called and called getting through to the lady that I had been emailing previously. I explained the situation, AGAIN, and she had to do a few things before I got a return label. I promptly sent the knife back, hoping this one would come back and be a perfect little pocket 505. A week after returning it, I received a call leaving a voicemail message saying they were going to give me a refund. No further information. No apologies. Nothing. WHAT?! I've spent significant time trying to get the knife(knives) I paid you for to be in, like new condition. I've spent significant time writing this, attaching photos and reaching out on multiple platforms. Warranty Order Number: 00884906 Order Number: CKS505 I just want my 505 I never got as a young boy, not a stupid refund!! WARRANTY? Your brand is only as good as your word and ability to produce. This is a key example of why consumer confidence is down. Please honor your warranty and send me my 505 water buffalo. Email me with an explanation of why I had such a horrible experience. Apologize. Best Regards, J.

While looking for things to do on a trip in the Eastern Washington/Northern Idaho area, I discovered the free (yes, free) Buck Knives factory tour. Being the girly, girl that I am I really didn't know the name Buck Knives. Despite that, I am really glad that we took the time for the tour. Recommendations are recommended. They only have three tours a day (10am, noon and 2pm) Monday - Thursday. They keep the tour groups small and intimate. I believe there is an age limit, but I am not sure what it is. You are given protective ear covers and eye shields for the tour. Behind the scenes, you are able to witness every aspect of knife production from the raw materials to all the different stages of the different products they make. They give you detailed information about the history of Buck Knives and the history of their products. It really seems as if all the workers are a nice well connected crew. Communication seemed positive and the workers were keenly aware of the tour groups and made sure they were able to demonstrate materials or machines to the people on the tour. At the end of the tour, you are able to go up to the loft where the museum is hosted. Again, they review some of the history of Buck Knives and they have a wonderful array of their products over the years. Downstairs is the Buck Knives store. They host all their products for sale in the store at regular prices. There is a discount for military and police or firemen. There are a few display cases that offer great discounts on discontinued merchandise and blemished products. Most of the blemishes are minor and really are unnoticeable. This is nice if you are going to use the knife for hunting, fishing, etc, but not what you would want if you are a collector. FYI, the regular priced merchandise might be less expensive at Walmart or Cabella's. Bucks cannot offer special pricing at their store expect for special sales, blemishes or discontinued products. One of the nice perks of being at they factory is that they will sharpen your blade for free. They are also able to repair broken products at a reasonable price. They are able to engrave your products on site as well. Important thing to note: the store is NOT open on the weekends. The only exception is their big sales which they only have around Thanksgiving and around Father's Day.

After years of ordering hundreds of items such as hazardous materials (solid-fuel rocket motors;…read morechemicals; lithium batteries; firearm components; wine; assorted petrochemicals; devices that contain radioactive materials -- such as smoke detectors; and a plethora of items that can't be shipped to a post office box), I've finally found a company that stands firmly on the rock of ignorance and foolishness: US Tactical Supply. Add to that encountering one of the rudest individuals to ever work in a customer service position. I'm told that my order has to be sent to my credit card's billing address: no exceptions. The reason? "Credit card companies are concerned with fraud..." Yes, they are, and when I suggested adding my bank's personal manager and fraud department as a conference call -- all of which have both my mailing address (used for billing) and my residence address -- required for both my charitable veterans' foundations' and trust accounts by the IRS as well as those three-letter federal organizations for a truckload of reasons -- to verify my identity, this fearful individual working in US Tactical Supply's customer service department rudely announced he was cancelling the order and hung up. Really? Ever since having my credit and personal identities stolen, I've had all financial correspondence sent to a post office box; the tiny, rural mail box -- some distance from my residence -- is NOT lockable; any packages larger than 5" on a side is left on the ground for any thieves that happen to drive by, especially the local porch-pirate methheads who also follow delivery trucks in order to enrich themselves. Having a package delivered to a residence that requires a signature is perfect, especially when I'm purchasing any of the items that can only be carried by rail or cargo aircraft. In fact, UPS, DHL, and FedEx all have my addresses cross-referenced: send an address label for something going to my US Post Office requires me to show my driver's license... which shows (and proves) my physical address, conveniently serving as my DELIVERY ADDRESS for those three companies. All three companies have my "billing" address, phone number, and (residence/physical) shipping address -- information which this US Tactical Supply customer service individual can almost immediately determine with a few keystrokes, especially because I have accounts set up for my personal, charitable foundation, and trust business... all this information consistent, across the board. The branch manager of the bank serving my personal, foundation, and trust business accounts has joined conference calls where verification of information has been required, and spoke with me a few minutes ago stating that had I added him to a conference call, he would be happy to provide US Tactical Supply with the verification necessary or needed; the bank's fraud department has two- or three-step verification processes that have allowed me, as an airline pilot traveling worldwide, to conduct business from anywhere in the world with any legitimate, verifiable business in the world -- with the one possible exception of US Tactical Supply. So I asked my personal banker (branch manager) to call this individual to see if we could work something out: he was hung up on. My attorney contacted US Tactical Supply to see if we could get the name and contact information of the owner of US Tactical Supply so that we could work out the problem. Why? He's my training partner spotter. He was hung up on. Someone should tell this individual that just because we use computers in business doesn't mean we should think like one. Either that, or maybe they've outlawed common sense, courtesy, and/or reasonability in Idaho.
