Incredible fishing gear! The prices are good and the people are very knowledgeable. The mall is also really nice.

This "outlet" center is loaded with good deals. One side focuses on clothing but has a huge shoes and boot selection, rows and rows or options. This was really handy for finding a heavier option for the local weather. It also has lots of warm blankets to choose from for a quick gift. The other major side is loaded with sporting gear from archery to fishing to watersports and beyond. Any outdoorsman could spend hours browsing the fair pricing. On the plus side, they have a large inventory of basic outdoor goods. But you should be extra careful that you get charged for the correct price at checkout. Several times I've caught a difference between the posted price and the checkout price, especially with sale items. It happened again today, and since it was only $0.50 I let it go, but from now on I will photograph the display price before going to checkout. Things are expensive enough without getting ripped off. Edit: To be clear, I don't think this is intentional on their part. More likely, someone is being careless. read more

My wife and I had an incredible experience dealing with the Black Sheep staff at the guns and ammo section. I actually intended to do this review sooner (2 weeks ago when we purchased a new pistol) but I forgot their names, so I was holding off, as I've been wanting to go back in and get the two gentlemen's names who helped. I wanted to publicly thank them, but I have not had a chance yet, and I didn't want their hospitality, knowledge and politeness to go unrewarded. I think one or both were named Matt or Mike.... Oh my gosh, this sporting good store is gigantic. We went in to buy a couple fishing lures and walked out with hundreds of dollars of stuff. A very large selection of anything you would need helpful employees and well stock shelves. Was a Sunday Father's Day, so it was crowded and the line checking out was long, but it really didn't take that long. Forgot that Idaho has sales tax as opposed to where we live in Montana it doesn't so that was a sticker shock. Highly recommend this place for any of your sporting good needs, especially fishing. They had so much in stock. read more

I stopped here because my RV fit in the parking lot. I left it there for the morning while at Starbucks and then went to shop for a few items. They did not seem to mind as it was left alone. It's not always easy to park and shop and get things done, so I appreciate a company with a large lot willing to let a rig take up a few spaces for a few hours. Inside, there is just a lot of stuff. I went for the fishing gear and was totally overwhelmed (a good thing.) I wanted a fishing bag and the clerk talked about his experiences with different bags and was just fun to chat with. I don't go to a lot of sporting goods stores, but I don't think any I've been to have the massive fishing selection that Black Sheep has. On checkout, the clerks were friendly and easygoing. Later in the day, I also looked for outdoor chairs. The selection was a bit sparse, but I liked that they put one of each type out as a demo, including two rocking chairs. My only disappointment was trying to locate a canopy. They had one hanging as a demo, but I couldn't find a clerk to tell me where to find it (it wasn't with the chairs or tents or anywhere near the hanging one.) I gave up as I was in a bit of a hurry to head for Washington. read more

Went into their Knives & Optics shop looking to replace a knife that had gotten pretty dull. Unfortunately they didn't have the one I was looking for in stock. However the shop's manager (Mike I think?) took the time to walk me through how to sharpen a knife which I'd never done before. He was super polite, answered all my questions, and didn't talk down to me just because I didn't know much of anything about knife sharpening. I greatly appreciated being treated respectfully and with kindness given my lack of knowledge on the subject. Plus, with the new handy sharpener I purchased from him my knife works great again! I needed a sling for a rifle as I was headed out hunting so stopped in and picked one up but subsequently found mine so never took it out of the bag. I returned it with the receipt at the end of the season and was told sorry, 30 day return policy was surpassed. This was by a manager with 2 others right there. Never touched, still in bag with receipt, no offer of store credit. I don't return much so am inexperienced but have never been denied. Cabellas, REI, Tri-state, Costco...none of them have ever denied a return. 30 years in the area and I have a store I'll avoid because they ding treat people fairly in my opinion. This is a large sporting goods shop that carries a wide variety of products. Pricing is a bit under MSRP, so they are cheaper than most places. If it weren't for their pricing and selection, this would be a 2 or 3 star rating because their customer service (or lack there of) really sucks. The gun counter is where everything goes off the rails... they get backed up due to having lots of customers and way too few sales reps. This is because the people who work in other departments apparently cannot assist during busy times at the gun counter. So when the gun counter is absolutely swamped, you see employees standing around in other departments with nothing to do. Folks - it's time to do some cross-training to better manage your sales volume! I only shop here when I am just browsing, or I know they have the item I want at the lowest price, else I pretty much avoid going here.. read more

What a joke! Our community is in the middle of a pandemic and the manager isn't even wearing a mask! Sure, he donned one the second I called for the "manager", but he still approached me without it on his face and WAY too close for social distancing. I had to ask him to please put on his mask and step back. This was after I asked him to lower his voice, as he was yelling at me while I stood 3 feet from him. I said, I'm right here and I can hear you fine. Even after he backed away, he continued to raise his voice. I simply requested that he post a notice on the door, making people aware that there is a mask MANDATE in ALL public places in our community. He informed (yelled at) me, while telling me how busy he is, that the owner doesn't recognize the mask mandate. I will never return. Any owner who is more interested in money, than it's community's health and healing, will never be a business for me. Not to mention, the tool of a "manager" they've selected to represent their company? Thanks, I'll pass. Long story short...stay healthy by staying away from Black Sheep, as about 50% of it's customers don't wear masks...and one manager. read more

Just stopped on this place since I've read good reviews, BUT what a joke, prices are NOT lowest or best, nothing was decent priced IMO. All items I looked at were msrp max priced. Now sportsman warehouse in Spokane Valley easily was priced lower, example 1000 rifle primers at Black sheep are $34, while at their competition they are $28. I won't be back there for sure. read more

Love this place! Very friendly and helpful staff, especially the folks at the gun counter. They've been very eager to help and knowledgeable. I've had long conversations with a few of them about their recommendations on ammo and accessories for rifles. Counter is safe, very calm. Facility is clean, and everyone seems to have a good attitude. My go to spot for fishing supplies and boots as well. Good pricing on guns and ammo, and they have a pretty good holster section. I strongly believe in shopping and buying local to support our local economies. This business appears to have nearly cornered the local market. They have an anecdotal history of being the lowest prices in town, and this seems to be true. Unfortunately, in all of the glory of success, they have forgotten the underlying factor that put them there...the customer. It's the "biting the hand that feeds you" scenario. I have been in places where the underlying feel of shrewd, cold greed leaves a slimy feeling on your skin. About a year ago I was treated coldly and disrespectfully in the facility. They have now lost all of my future business over a few dollar item I wished to return. To me a few dollar return is nothing compared to the thousands of dollars of lost future sales. Once you have given up your money, good luck getting it back. It's sad to be mistreated while supporting your local businesses. read more

Bought an SUP here a few months back and had great customer service. I can't remember the kid's name (17yr old, drives a new truck and is going to college) but he was awesome. Helped pick the right size board and a paddle. I later had to return the paddle for a longer one and that experience was pleasant as well. This kid not only carried the 40lb board to my car but helped me put it on top if my FJ Cruiser and ratchet strap it down... All in all this is a great place to shop, informative and willing to help sports store! read more
