I celebrated my 50th birthday three years ago and the place is incredibly peaceful and rejuvenating. The attentive staff makes this place very special. Istvan and Ian and Rafaela at Harvest were particularly delightful and the farm fresh food is just incredible! The Hot Springs are very soothing, relaxing and reinvigorating. Don't expect a TV in the room as they are absent. If you just wanna relax and catch up on your sleep or read a good book with no noise to be found, this is a place for you. The 7 mile dirt road to the resort is very scenic and you are likely to find burros along the way. Definitely need some kind of suv for that part. Or if you have no object to spending money, then take the helicopter from Scottsdale airport to whisk for a 20 minute ride to the resort.

Expectations were modest at first--especially after navigating more than seven miles of unpaved road to get there--but any doubts quickly faded upon arrival. A palm-lined driveway led us to the welcoming lobby, where we were greeted with chilled floral tea and genuine hospitality. From the very beginning, the atmosphere struck the perfect balance of grandeur and warmth: magnificent, yet unpretentious and inviting. The natural hot springs were deeply restorative, while the farm-to-table dining exceeded expectations. The onsite farm flourishes with seasonal fruits, vegetables, herbs, and spices, all of which elevate the dining experience. Activities are abundant, including golf, yoga, biking, hiking, pickleball, archery, horseback riding, swimming, and even wine and mezcal tastings. Castle Hot Springs proved to be an extraordinary retreat--one that combines relaxation, adventure, and exceptional service. We left with plans to return in the winter. Highly recommended.

We had an Oasis suite and it was spacious and it looked newly renovated. The bathroom had both a tub and a walkin shower and we had a first floor room so we could walk directly to the adult pool. We went swimming every afternoon we were there and other than one person for 10 minutes, we were the only ones swimming. One nice thing is that they provide pool noodles so we could float to our hearts content. From the time we checked in, every person on their staff was helpful and friendly. We found when we checked in that the valets offered a free shuttle throughout the resort. So one night we went to the golf course and took a shuttle there. Since it was 112° it was a great alternative to driving or walking. If we had one quibble, the exterior of the resort, could've used an update. For example, the adult soft water pool surround was cracked in many places. I guess trying to grow grass in Phoenix in the middle of summer is difficult, but it made the common areas look unkempt. But overall, we loved everything else about the resort and would highly recommend staying here.

The family pool was extremely crowded with children, which is expected for a family-friendly resort. We spent most of our time at the adult pool, which was much quieter and child-free. Unfortunately, the adult pool area felt like an afterthought compared to the family side. Several tiles in the pool were broken, giving the area a worn and somewhat neglected feel. The lounge chairs were not as nice as those at the family pool, and the cabanas also seemed less inviting and less maintained. The food and beverage experience was another disappointment. There was no traditional menu available at the adult pool. Instead, you had to scan a QR code on the drink menu to access food options and then call in your order yourself. It felt inconvenient and took away from the relaxing resort experience. One bright spot was the poolside service. Our server was very attentive, friendly, and checked on us regularly throughout the day. She did a great job and provided excellent customer service. While the adult pool provided a quieter atmosphere, it lacked the quality and amenities I expected.

Don't let the charming adobe finish and impressive cactus garden fool you, this is a no-nonsense and soberly practical destination for the discriminating serial offender. Parking is ample amongst the few scattered government work vehicles and the wood-paneled station wagon with two flat tires. But you get the first real inkling you are truly at home upon entering the the lobby, which may also be someone's living room, designed by David Lynch and covered in myriad endearing conspiracy theory posters, animal heads, and military memorabilia. Ring the bell and, if you're patient, a grizzled and unmasked face may materialize deep within the until-now unnoticed dark square recess in the wall. No need for an ID. Upon entering the room, the smell of literal death competes with the invigorating rush of 100-degree air for your senses' attention. The 1970's mini AC unit, you'll find, does an excellent job of cooling the room down just in time for check-out. No pesky furniture on which to set your belongings, but you packed light. The 'carpet', which may be an oversized macrame area rug, has no irritating padding underneath and slides along with each step, being in no way attached to the floor. The visible particles of schmutz on the floor are a comforting sign no untrustworthy cleaning staff have recently bugged the room, or even been hired. No problem, you wear your combat boots at all times. The TV offers a good chance to brush up on your IT skills, as some rewiring will be necessary and the remote needs new AA batteries, which of course you never travel without. The central decor consists of a thoughtfully fanned-out array of American flag paper napkins on the unplugged dorm fridge, with a single styrofoam cup atop. Gideon saw fit to place his Bible not in the drawer, there being none, but right on the shelf-type thing at the bedside. The eggshell foam inserted into the pillowcases is, simply stated, almost adequate. There's a tiny unventilated nook in back with an unstable cot which has surely at some point doubled as a human trafficking detention area. The soap and shampoo cannot be made to lather, a feature I never even dreamed possible. And, OH YES - the Mineral Wells! They consist of a faithful drip of sulphuric water from the broken bathroom faucet, piped in from unknown depths. Fifty Stars!!!!

I had been moving from California to Arizona at the time. A gas station recommended this place as inexpensive and quiet as it was nighttime before the apartment opened. I was paying with traveler's checks instead of a card as during the move my bank needed to issue a new one because of some computer issue when moving. I paid $40 for the night and then $20 security deposit. A good place and quiet and they even lent me an alarm clock. So I get up in the morning and am about to leave around 7am. I go to the desk to get my deposit back. The whole area is locked. I bang and bang. Nobody answers. There's a back area just saying something like leave room keys in the box. I bang on that for a long time. Still nobody answers. I ended up just having to drop my keys in the box they said to leave keys in and I never got my $20 deposit back. This would be 5 stars if not for this. Can't give it lower than 3 because it was otherwise a good place except for the people being willfully lazy so they don't have to return deposits.

The bathroom lights above the shower did not work, they would flicker then go off. The tissue box was empty at check in besides the tissue rose made on top. There were issues with the "mini bar" sensor at check in and someone had to come check on it later in the week. We didn't get service on some days of stay even with the "Service Please" Sign on the room door. The pool is open until 10pm, however the pool bar closes at 6pm and they had people exit their cabana rentals at 7pm. The drinks at the bar were severely over priced and mediocre at best. We paid $43 for 2 margaritas at the pool bar that tasted like blended water with a splash of margarita mix. The umbrellas at the pool had to be closed most of the time due to the winds, which also blew all types of debris and trash into the pools causing a bad look. One of our party was double charged at the pool bar, and they expressed that they could not reverse the charge and if they did it would take 7-10 days to return to the card, but refused to give us the extra drink because they couldn't serve more than 2 drinks within 30 minutes to the same person...even though there was 6 of us in the party and she was charged for 3 drinks, twice. Which could have been one per person in our party. The mobile bars within our evening reception drinks were higher priced in there than on the casino floor, so we all left our reception, to get drinks and come back. Drinks were on average $4-8 more than at the bar at the casino. One of the girls in our group personal cards was charged not only for the deposit amount for the stay but then the remainder of the balance for the first night and then again for the rest of her stay, causing her bank account to be nearly cleared out. In which the front desk staff told her there was nothing they could do, and that it would go back to her card Friday at the earliest (this was Tuesday). As we were there on business the rooms were prepaid with CC authorizations on file for the cost of the room rate + resort fees, so she was left with no money to pay for food or anything else for the rest of the week, and they could not provide any help and did not have any managers on property. We were able to track down a manager in a different department who was at least able to get her a food comp to pay for her meal thankfully. We were really excited to stay at Gila River, we had heard many great things about this property and were were unimpressed with the level of guest service.

At 30 years old, this was my first time ever staying at a hotel by myself, outside of business trips. I grew up with overprotective parents, and because of this, I always think to myself that I'm not allowed to travel anywhere out of state on my own (obviously I am). As someone being in a different state alone that looks younger than their actual age, I felt safe in this particular area. Since this was a short trip for me, I wasn't looking at staying at a fancy hotel. Room stayed in: 323, a queen room facing the pool area. Pros: +Conveniently located across the street from State Farm Stadium +Walking distance to many retail stores, restaurants, and entertainment sites +Close to my friend/former coworker's apartment complex +Digital key available through the Hilton Honors app +Comfortable bed - I slept quite well both nights +Kitchenette available, including microwave and fridge/freezer combo +Quick check in and check out +Little to no highway noise +Free continental breakfast +Fitness center +Free water upon check in Cons: -No streaming services available on TV I had some trouble getting the TV to work on my first night. I thought it was broken and I almost requested to change rooms, but then I realized that the HDMI cable was unplugged from the TV, so that solved the problem. I didn't come to Glendale just to watch TV and I would be away from my room for the majority of my trip, but I do like to fall asleep with the TV on, just like a little white noise kind of thing for me. Overall, I had an excellent stay here. Will definitely stay here again next time I visit Glendale!
