This place is wild! The decor is hilarious and there is stuff to look at everywhere. The food was pretty average, but it is more than made up for by the atmosphere and friendly staff. There were two women working on the day we went, and they were both hilarious and made it a lot of fun. After hearing about this place for years my husband and I finally made the scenic drive to Bucknuckles in our convertible on a hot summer Sunday. The place was less busy than usual per the friendly staff. We sat at bar inside and had our food and drink there. You order your own food and drink from the bar. No tap beer but a good selection of canned and bottled beer as well as other beverages and 1919 root beer on tap. I had grilled chicken sandwich and my husband had fish sandwich. Both were good with nice soft buns. You have to pay extra for sandwich toppings. 50 cents for a piece of green leaf lettuce! We split an order of onion rings that were fine. We enjoyed checking out the shop, tiki bar, sitting areas outside. Lots of interesting things to look at all over the place. Much of it was amusing. Staff were very nice and verbalized they are happy to work there (very nice to hear). Definitely cater to a biker crowd but it was definitely a pleasant experience. Like the tagline, getting there is half the fun. We found out later that they will pull out "all the bells and whistles " for first time visitors (but we were ok not having that experience!) I was totally disappointed in the fact that their tee shirts have nothing for women in sizes. All I see is mens huge sizes...I have stopped there over the last 3 years and the same thing each time no shirts available. You would have thought they would be stocked up since it is the beginning of the riding season. When asking the man managing the booth if they can be ordered and he said no. The owner needs to update and service his customers. read more

Bucknuckles - you did not disappoint. This bar/restaurant is literally in the middle of nowhere town Wisconsin! We had quite the hike to get to this gem and after a long cruise with no service we made it! The restaurant is super goofy inside. Strange decorations allow throughout allow your eyes to wandering around. This includes old missiles and a bar plastered in pennies. We were there in the dead of winter, but I imagine when they open the garage door downstairs in the summer that it's a cool spot to hang out. At our table we had a variety of food. The cheese curds were fantastic as well as the onion rings! They have exotic burger options which were fascinating and delicious...where does one source camel meat in the middle of no where. None the less - all of us had fantastic meals. The service was slow, but we weren't looking to rush through our meal. It's not an in and out type of joint and I think life needs a few of those! Another biker friend of mind recommended Bucknuckles when we told him we were riding near Alma. What a great recommendation. The place was hopping, lots of fun people were there. The place is covered in re-purposed antiques. They had a fun menu with plenty of unexpected things. The service was great and so was the food. You could go there over and over and never see all the cool stuff they have packed in. If you are a motorcycle rider the area is flat amazing. Hilly terrain with roads winding through farmlands and woods and fantastic scenery. We were there on a Friday but it was evident from the many outside seating area and outside bar that this place must really be busy on weekends. This is a must stop place to hang out. read more

Okay, this place is amazing! They have a limited menu, but what they do have is done really well. We had a burger and a chicken sandwich, both delicious. The sweet potato fries may have been the best we've ever had. My hubby and I both try to limit carbs and don't normally eat much of the bread on a sandwich, but the buns Bucknuckles uses are so delicious that we made an exception and ate every bite. The owners are very nice, and we enjoyed chatting with them. The drive up is pretty. There is so much fun stuff to see inside and out in the courtyard/barn area. Yes, this place is kind of in the middle of nowhere, but it's worth the trip! One note - there are a lot of deer along the roads, even in the middle of the day, so drive carefully! read more

Even though they were extremely Deb was great at getting us taken care of, the food was good and Deb did the best she could while being understaffed. I like how attentive, and polite she was even with being so busy and not having the staff to help her make everyone happy. I don't know how she did it but she did what what she could, and it was perfect for me and my group of friends. I will definitely be back, I see now why someone at the bar called her Mom, because she's caring and helpful and loving just like a Mom! read more

A very popular biker destination, so surprised to be adding. Much more of a place to party than to eat, with very eclectic furnishings. Likely over 200 cast iron seats mostly on the ceiling, about 32000 pennies in the bar (guess and win the pot), and condiments are are on a pulleys system. As they'll have maybe 700-800 total guests during good weather, the beer prices are higher that expected for in the middle of nowhere. May be mapped as Praag (7 people), Lincoln, or Alma, it's on Hwy 88 miles from Mississippi River. There are more types of burger meat than of burger toppings. It was my first experience of the High Scot burger, and I will be looking for more! Scottish Highland cattle have double coats, rather than extra layers of fat to keep warm which makes the meat strangely healthy (by most measures better than chicken) yet it was incredibly tasty. I hedged by adding thick cut hickory smoked bacon, so obviously it was even better. My mom didn't get her requested fired onions on her High Scot, reiterating it's a place destination rather than of food, yet still loved it. Dad had "seasonal?" teriyaki grilled chicken with granny smith apple wrapped in that bacon and deep fried. End result quite greasy and also tasty. Too far away from even the family farm to say will go back, but will highly recommend as a biker stop for those who go to Trempealeau or anywhere west. read more

Middle of nowhere but worth the drive from Alma. Unique burger meat options (camel, Highlander, wild boar). Fries were like none other I've seen before.... crispy, curly, puffy potato slices. Wings were smoked and my husband was a fan. Goofy levy system for ketchup/napkin holders, lights, etc. Silly bar signs and tracker seats decorated the whole place. read more

If you like far off places with eclectic design and good food you'll love Bucknuckle! I spent 4 hours on the back of a motorcycle from Minn to Wisconsin to get there and yes I'd do it again! From the motorcycle saddle bags containing condiments suspended on pulley from the ceiling and the full size windmill blade used as a ceiling fan this place has it all good food large jalapeño poppers wrapped with bacon mmmm! You can get just about any meat from elk to buffalo. It sits on a lot big enough for a park and the have a huge fire pit where there roast the freshest corn ( right next to a corn field). It is way out in the middle of no where but the view and the food and people were wonderful. The owners were super friendly gave hugs, took pics showed us around. Lots of people drive there to! It's the only thing there for miles around! read more

And if you are lucky there will be fresh bbq---had n outstanding brisket sandwich(well had 2!)last weekend--the potato salad was not of my liking but being able to sit outside is a definite plus. I was there last night after a great ride through some beautiful scenery. The place oozes atmosphere. We ordered a couple of burgers and fries. The burgers were outstanding! The fries were unique and very good. It was a bit of a slower night so you really got to look around the place and check out all the cool stuff they have hung on all the walls. The bartender was very friendly and offered great service. I will definitely be back and would recommend this place to anyone. I was there once on a weekend for a beer with friends, and it's very lively and busy. Keep that in mind if you go on a Saturday or Sunday during the summer months...there will be a wait, as this place is popular with the motorcycle crowd. read more
