Quick, cheap prices for food, but tastes delicious! Little dark and the front door can be tricky but overall love it

Spirit Lake, Iowa…read more The outside of this restaurant is adorable. Picnic tables, and a few four top tables sit randomly underneath a tree with outdoor lights. The inside is cold and modern. Plastic chairs, low back high top chairs and concrete floor. Photos line the wall, mostly of kids and scribble crayon on the back wall It is a walk up where you order your food and then they bring it to the table. The guy taking my order was curt. Asked him if they fry their items in beef tallow. He said no. Then I told him I had a question about the turkey burger. He was gruff and said what do you wanna know. Then I asked him if he had to pick between two sandwiches, which would he pick? He shrugged his shoulders. Perhaps he should not be working the front of the house with his lack of personality. My husband's burger was plain but good. My turkey burger was very dry. The onion jam was absolutely delicious and so was the bun that it was served on. We ordered a side of tater tots. They have a bit of kick and spice to them. However, they were soft. I prefer my tater tots to be cooked to a crunch. Not wet and limp. You can order soda, but it is sold by the can. There are no fountain drinks. There is no table service. In fact, I have not seen one employee walk since we have been here. I would give thus place a 3.8 for food. I would give them one star for service. No, I would never come back

My burger was just barely warm & came out within 5 minutes of us ordering. It seems like they are pre-cooked & then warmed up. The bun didn't seem fresh & my fries were hard. My other 2 friends had specialty burgers & fries. There fries were hot, fresh & delicious. I am very disappointed.

That says a lot about the place, she seemed happy to be there and made us happy as well! We placed our order with some items for later and she even asked if we wanted that stuff bagged up while the rest on a tray! Good thinking and thank you!! Everything was freshly made, the original chicken sandwiches had plenty of mayo and lettuce and they were piping hot! French fries were fresh and onion rings even fresher! Everything was just spot on with this crew, they nailed it! What impressed us most was the cleanliness of both the dine in area as well as the bathrooms. Complete with crowns on the tables, that was the "crowning" touch!! Kuddos to the team, they were on point on June 26, 2023!

My biscuit came to me half broken so I couldn't even eat it as a sandwich. We came here for breakfast out of necessity after driving overnight. Tater tots were just that and nothing special. The sourdough sandwich wasn't much better. The breading is too thick and not worth the hefty price. Stick with what you know best, lunch and dinner.

They have a varied menu and offer a lot of options. I'm a vegetarian, so steak wasn't part of my plans, but I did end up choosing the standard side for a steak, a fully loaded baked potato. I had hoped for an IPA, but they explained that they'd offered them in the past without much interest from their regulars. I ended up drinking a couple of Sam Adams, and that complemented my potato nicely. Everyone was very friendly and the prices were good. The menu items on Yelp were out of date, so I took photos of the present menu. I forgot to take a photo before I started mashing my potato...better late than never. I would definitely go back if I'm passing through again! They also have two pool tables and a dart board, if you like them.

Didn't seem overly excited that there were outside of the normal folks there, but we were greeted and served. The food was basic. Fried gizzards were ok as were the mozzarella sticks. Seemed like the oil needed to be changed. Nothing special about the nachos. The Tap Patty Melt was bland. The bread had a bit of an off taste from the griddle. Overall, it was food and wasn't completely horrible, just not great.

Northwest Iowa is truly blessed to have both of these quality brewers here for the good beer-loving citizens to enjoy. The OBC facility is clearly visible from US 71, but takes a little more maneuvering to get here. I hope that partially explains the low attendance that I've seen here, as it's your loss if you haven't stopped in. West O seemed to be better patronized, and that might be partially explained by the occasional availability of live entertainment, proximity to the Taco House, easier access from US 71, and perhaps a more prominent social media presence. I tried the OBC IPA which is very good and a lot smoother than the "Total Domination" version that you can get at West O. Actually, I like the West O style very much, but at the same time was pleasantly surprised and impressed by OBC's vision of this classic. Like West O, unlimited peanuts are available at the bar or table and food can be brought in from the outside. I found OBC room a little more homey and appreciated that there was a soft drink option available for anyone who didn't wish to imbibe. OBC also has a complete line of home brewing supplies for home enjoyment..
