Happy Sunday! Here at Ryan's Pier, my daughter and I enjoyed our first time here for lunch. Weather…read morewas beautiful with all the shine sun on this gorgeous Sunday. Topping at 89 degrees with a little breeze, it felt wonderful. A cute little lake view with a park for the kiddos. It was a decent place for any day outing. Just a nice view and something for everyone to enjoy their afternoon. Ryan's Pier had plenty of seating inside and out. A full bar with plenty of options. I ordered a margarita nothing too fancy but still really good. Menu was simple with burgers, wraps, quesadillas and a kiddos menu. A typical bar menu. Except Ryan's Pier was a total hit, and our new lunch time outing! Everything was really good! We ordered the kids cheese quesadilla, chicken wrap with onion petals and some homemade crab cakes. Everything was really delicious for our lunchtime and very much appeasing. Our entrees came out hot and ready! Didn't take no time! Our waitress and the staff were terrific! Nice smiles with great hospitality. The women were patient and pretty much laid back. Good service, nice view and great company is always a great time! Always my motto! Check em out!

Saturday (11:00am-9:00pm) and Sunday (12:00pm-8:00pm) MONDAY-THURSDAY (10:30am-8:30pm) FRIDAY (10:30am-9:00pm) The river is across the street (mostly gravel) from the restaurant. There's parking along the river side and more parking in the back of the restaurant. The restaurant is a bit tired but clean, bathrooms were spotless, but the woman's was a bit warm - I guess the AC doesn't reach the bathroom. 4 slot machines are right inside the door next to the bar (which is fairly large). There are 5 booths along the walls with about the same amount of tables. Another room in front with about 5 round tables too. Theres a large fire burning fireplace out in front with a few tables & chairs. Today there was a large tent out in front with a lot of tables and chairs. I had a Denver omelet (ham, onion, bell pepper) which looked to be about 2 eggs, hash browns and rye toast. The eggs were a bit overcooked but not bad. My husband had 2 eggs (scrambled), large slice of grilled ham, with biscuit & gravy (the biscuit seemed to be a bit doughy) and two sausage links. It all tasted pretty good. Coffee was pretty good, not bitter at all but held up to my added cream & sugar. They don't offer poached eggs (Benedicts are served with sunny side up) or grits. Service was a bit slow, but not too bad. It would've been nice to have our coffee filled more and I went and got a menu myself since we'd been sitting there awhile without having one (or coffee).

Emancipation is a brewery not a lot of people have heard of because it's not close to anything of course. Has a surprising amount of variety on tap and in cans to go. They may not have a whole lot but everything is full of flavor and quenches one's thirst. Even with it being a smaller brewery it still has quite a lot. It's got several of their own beers on tap along with a few others. There's also more cans in a refrigerator. Has the basics along with a few interesting ones. More than just the IPAs and the usual. It's about $7 a pint. The Farmer's Favorite is the IPA and is a pretty good medium one that's crisp and smooth. Has a few things to snack on here. It's about $3 for the Krack Mix. Basically like Chex Mix but it's made locally. They also will let you bring in stuff. Great place that's pretty hard to find the first time going here. It's located on N. 2500 East Rd. a few miles north of Fairbury surrounded by corn fields pretty much. They're closed Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.

We sat at the bar and the bartender is super attentive 1 o'clock in the afternoon on a Thursday and it's not very busy The music is decent not too loud. There are a lot of TVs. We ordered Reuben combo with pastrami and corned beef with a side of macaroni and cheese and we also ordered a side of the cornbread casserole just because it's something unique and different to try. As for the sandwich we both enjoyed it although it's a little smoky Mac & cheese is okay. It definitely could use green onions on top to dress it And the cornbread casserole is a homemade cornbread that's soft with like a kind of cream filling and loaded with corn it was my least favorite We also ordered a couple old-fashioned. I don't like that they have the little ice cubes, butdrinks are tasty.

Ambiance, food, drinks and service were all top notch! We sat under the massive old timey stained glass chandelier at the big community table. What a neat idea. I had the bison burger. Perfectly seasoned and cooked to a beautiful medium just as I requested. The coleslaw had a bit too much onion, but it was still good. My Mom had tots with the trio wrap. It was so deliciously smokey. And a "fall off the porch" drink that was just peachy and not too strong for her. But Beau was the shining star of our visit. He took time to go over the menu and make suggestions. And was very attentive to refill our waters and check in after we had our first few bites without hovering. I will definitely be back soon to try the wings!

I ordered the Smashburger because the server told me it was the best burger in town. It may have been the best burger in town because I have nothing to compare it to, but it was not good. It was the special for the day. It was $15 for the burger and fries. I ordered it without onions. It came with a lot of shredded lettuce and sauce between the bottom bun and the burger. I was not a fan of the amount of sauce that came with this burger. The burger itself did not have any flavor. It looked like there was some pepper in the meat, but I could not taste anything. The brioche bun disintegrated in my mouth after each bite. My experience with a bun like this is it was either frozen or it is stale. Not sure why the bun was bad since it was their special that day. I chose poorly with a burger. Every other time I went, I got the Yakisoba noodles with short rib ribs. The noodles with the short ribs are the best in town and probably the best in Northwest Indiana.
