Tonight was my first visit as I recently moved and have heard several times how I just HAVE to check out the Hoppy Pig. Now I know it is worth all the hype. Ambiance, food, drinks and service were all top notch! We sat under the massive old timey stained glass chandelier at the big community table. What a neat idea. I had the bison burger. Perfectly seasoned and cooked to a beautiful medium just as I requested. The coleslaw had a bit too much onion, but it was still good. My Mom had tots with the trio wrap. It was so deliciously smokey. And a "fall off the porch" drink that was just peachy and not too strong for her. But Beau was the shining star of our visit. He took time to go over the menu and make suggestions. And was very attentive to refill our waters and check in after we had our first few bites without hovering. The ambiance and decoration of this place is cute and inviting. The waitress we had was just not as knowledgeable as maybe a waitress should be of the menu and being able to suggest food and drinks. We had asked her what she suggested and she responded that she doesn't eat there because the food isn't healthy. . Very nice girl but that was kind of a turn off of their food. But food was decent and drinks were good. Just feel like maybe we need to try this experience again. read more

Been here a few times decided give them a well deserved review and shoutout! Breakfast served! Great place located right in Bradley. It reminds me of a sports bar with dining seating. Plenty of room for big or small crowds. Menu was pretty simple for breakfast. Food tasted even better. Ordered the hillbilly biscuits and gravy and chicken and bacon with waffles. Great atmosphere with rustic decor. Our waiter was very attentive and we had great service! I ordered the Irish Egg Rolls which were a March special and they were absolutely amazing! It's too bad they aren't on the permanent menu. The Texas Burger that I ordered was dry and I definitely wouldn't recommend that, however, the fries are great!! This was our second visit to Hoppy Pig. Our first experience was great--excellent food and friendly service--which is why we decided to bring family back. Unfortunately, this visit was a very different experience. We were seated and then waited about 10 minutes without being greeted. When we asked if we had a server, the staff member responded, "I assume so," (kinda rudely) and went to check. After waiting another 10 minutes with no service, we decided to leave. As we were leaving, we overheard a waitress complaining that she had just found out about our table and was upset that we were leaving, which made the situation uncomfortable. Another party was also leaving at the same time and commented, "I'm guessing you guys had bad service too." It's disappointing because the food is good, but the service really overshadowed the experience. Unfortunately, we won't be returning. read more

Well, unfortunately the Prime Rib sandwich made me sick as hell. For 2 days nothing but vomiting and diarrhea. It's sad because our bill was $76 plus a 20 dollar tip. Driving from Chicago down to Southern Illinois can be tiring and decided to make a pit stop for dinner. It is quite hard finding gluten free places in my route because it tends to go through "rural" Illinois. I found this place on yelp and decided to give it a try because they had gluten free buns. I entered through the parking lot on the side and decided to sit at a table. They had a nice bar area with high tops and a banquet room in the back. My waitress was super nice and guided me through the menu. I ordered the bay of pigs sandwich on a gluten free bun. It was decent, although I should've had some BBQ sauce to go with it. The meat was a little on the bland side. The seasoned fries were extra crispy and had a great taste. I would definitely venture back during future roadtrips and try their burgers next! read more

Mahi mahi tacos that have the freshness of a Florida Gulf-side restaurant. Easy 5 stars. The food and beer menu's here are enormous and stacked with great choices. My son had the brisket which he devoured in minutes. My wife had the pulled pork and bacon grilled cheese sandwich which I had a bite of..also really damn good. Everything went great! Comfortable setting, with lots of diners without any overcrowding. We had a great time here. We stopped here after the game at Memorial Field. The service was kind and efficient. All our meals were hot, aesthetically pleasing, and best of all DELICIOUS! We were very excited to try this place while visiting until we sat there for at least 20 minutes without being offered to drink or so much as a hello!! The waitress even came by at at least four times without either greeting us or offering us anything. We even asked the other patrons to see if there was anything we had to do! I was disgusted by the awful service and unprofessional attitude of the server today... I will not be back and will gladly take my business to Brickstone brewery, which is only 5 to 8 minutes away!! I came here with my family to celebrate some birthdays while visiting and loved the vintage/ industrial decor and style. The building appears to be an old warehouse for a bike shop or something similar and had the original structure and even original garage doors. It was pretty busy when we went as there was a party happening in a large room connected to the main area. Parking was hard to find because they were busy and we had to park a few stores down- there was also designated parking available across the road but it seemed like a busy intersection to cross. We started with a Bacon jalapeño popper appetizer and Fried pickles. The jalapeño poppers were not spicy at all which is good if you don't like spice but for somebody who likes spice such as my husband, he was very disappointed. The fried pickles were very salty. I ordered blackened shrimp tacos and they were okay but I wouldn't order again. They were very dry and not very much slaw on them. My husband got the Texas burger and said it was okay but also wouldn't order again. Another family member got the hot wings and they were the highlight of the night and what took the review from a 3 to 4 star review. He got 10 Jumbo hot wings for $15 and they were DELICIOUS! They had just enough spice to enjoy them without burning your mouth and packed full of flavor. The server was very helpful with answering our questions and our food came out pretty quick. Went for brunch. Had a reservation and there was confusion. The food was okay. Lots of fat on the prime rib. But the good pieces with horseradish were excellent. Table service was not good on a holiday, but it was a buffet. I guess it's one of the only decent brunches in that town. I was visiting Bradley, IL and at first, I wanted to go to Jojo's BBQ. I had eaten there a few years ago and shocked at how good it was for Illnois. Sadly, they were closed on Sunday. So the next best option was the Hoppy Pig. The Hoppy Pig is a bar/restaurant/pub. It seems like I smelled someone smoking in here a few times but never saw anyone smoking. It must have been something else. There are a lot of TVs and the restaurant is clean. There is parking on both sides of the building. The menu is huge! But there is lots of diversity from burgers, BBQ, mac and cheese, and tacos. I started with fried pickles. These pickles were cut thick and had a Cajun Horseradish Sauce with them. There were a ton of them too - more than what one person can eat. For my entree, I went with the Bradley Porker and cornbread. The cornbread was sweet and phenomenal. But my meal went south with the burger. The burger comes with onion strings, pulled pork, pork belly, bacon, beer cheese, and Bourbon BBQ sauce. It sounds good but not quite well on the execution. There was little beer cheese on it. The Bourbon BBQ sauce was also non-existent but they did give me extra on the side like I requested. Except it turns out it tasted a lot like Sweet Baby Ray's Hickory and Brown Sugar, definitely not Bourbon. The bun was a brioche bun which was good. The meat itself was just ok. Before I chose the burger, I had like 5 other entrees I was trying to decide between and maybe I just picked the one that wasn't the best for me. But I would give The Hoppy Pig another chance because it does seem like a good place to catch a game. Ribs we're ok, not the worst, not close to the best but would never order again. The ribs were boiled tasting not smoked. The chili had way too much chili powder in it. After catching a matinee at the nearby theater we decided to have an early dinner here as we have always passed by but never stopped in. We don't drink so I can't attest for their alcohol offerings, though they do have some non-alcoholic options! We started with an order of fried pickles with the Cajun sauce and they were hot and delicious! Finally a fried pickle where the batter had seasoning and didn't rely on the pickle or sauce to flavor it! We both had the black bean burger, one with fried and one with tots. Both delicious. They burger had a nice char so it also had a crunchy texture rather than the mushy texture a BB burger tends to have when simply heated. We also shared a side of Mac & cheese and to our delight it was actually a side of their entree version of the dish and not a generic Kraft macaroni version for a side! We met some friends for dinner and aside from the extensive beer menu, this establishment has very little to offer. I ordered the fried pickles for the table and the fish and chips for my entrée. Well, the chips were pretty tasty. But the fish really sucked. I believe the cook took some frozen -- already breaded -- fish and tossed them in the fryer. The dish was served with what they called "tarter sauce" that tasted horrible; but it helped cover the wet greasy taste of the fish, so it helped. The pickles, like the fish, was not hand breaded.
