I've been going to this office for nearly 20 months and haven't written a review yet because I wanted to see the end result. Five stars isn't enough. My braces are off now and my teeth look phenomenal. First time in my life (I'm 53) that I'm not ashamed to smile. I'm one of those people you hear about that get irrationally anxious about dental work. Dr. Budd and his staff were true pros. They listened to my concerns and made adjustments to their procedures to accommodate my "special needs". I first met Dr. Budd when my daughter Michele needed braces about 7 or 8 years ago. He did a great job on her teeth! Well, my crooked bottoms always were an issue, but I started to notice major spacing on my top teeth. That's when I went to see Dr. Budd. I had to find an ortho in Phoenix because my daughter is in college at ASU and her permanent retainer broke. They quoted me $100-$250 on the phone and didn't say anything about needing a panoramic photo of her mouth. I told them if they had any questions they could call me being I was in another state. They never called me when she received care and explained to her that it was going to cost over $400. When the ortho examined her he told her that he needed to do another treatment set of Invisalign's because her teeth had moved. He tried to talk her into starting treatment again. She told them no. They also made her pay for everything before they even installed a new retainer. They made her come back for an impression. I called and explained that she just wanted a regular retainer, not a permanent retainer any longer. They told me that they would have to give us a partial refund because the permanent one is more expensive. At no time did they ever mention that she needed a panoramic nor that it would be more than $250. When I called for an itemized statement they sent me a financial report, which was not an itemized statement listing everything they had done with the charges. They told me they "explained it to her". She's 19 and was never involved in setting up any of the appointments. She's never taken care of this stuff by herself which is why I instructed them to call me if there were any issues. I feel they took advantage of her because of her age and naivety. They did not give me any of the pertinent information when I spoke to them three times on the phone. When she went to receive her refund they initially told her that she would be receiving $125 back but then went into a different office and talked about it and then came back and decided only to give her $40. I am appalled by their treatment of a young girl. I would never use them or recommend them to anyone. They took advantage of my daughter and then tried to tell me that they "explained it to her". I'm totally disgusted by the way they handled this and if I had known I would have definitely found a different orthodontist to send her to in the area. I'm still waiting for an itemized statement as of this writing. Don't use Budd Orthodontics. They are not honest and trustworthy. read more

Not sure who Budd is paying to get decent reviews. Let's get through the BS: My family began going to Budd when he was fresh out of his orthodontic diapers - even sent him referrals. That was when he had one office administrator and two assistants, all professional, personable, and pleasant. As treatment progressed, his practice grew (good for him), but Budd's personal standards began to slip. New staff, additional office space, I get it; I don't get Budd's lackadaisical demeanor on recent visits. 10-minute increments for appointments? Extreme rudeness from The Budd himself? He comes across as overwhelmed and over narcissistic at the same time. Bad combo. Moving on - I'll give my $ and time to a professional. Review originally posted early May - I made an appointment for 10:10am and Dr. Budd did not arrive at the office until 10:40. He was so late that when a hygienist asked if I was ok, I told her my appointment time and she said "oh my god" when she looked at the clock that read 10:35. To put things in perspective, another patient with a 10:30 appointment time was in and out before he even got to the office. When he finally arrived, he didn't say hello; he was discussing business matters with his assistant as I laid down in front of him with my mouth open. When he was done (2 minutes later), he didn't say I was all set or anything and instead just went to the next patient -- I had to assume I was finished and got up to leave on my own. I interpreted his behavior as rude and standoffish. When I saw him just a few days ago, he wouldn't let me finish a sentence or voice my concerns. Maybe he was having a bad week, but I feel as if he has lost his personal touch and I will not return. After more than 6 years, I will find another orthodontist if I need any more work done. I know other patients who feel the same way and I will no longer be recommending his services. I will miss his sweet staff but not Dr. Budd himself. read more

I like how conservative Dr. Budd is about when to put braces on teens teeth. I highly recommend this team to anyone in the Valley seeking high quality, honest, and professional care! When I moved to AZ last year, I transferred my orthodontic care to Dr. Budd's office. I called around to multiple offices asking general questions about transferring and his was the only office that I felt was honest in answering my questions over the phone, and inviting me for a consult rather than convincing me to become a patient first. They were also the only office whose reception was familiar with the type of brackets I had in place, which I found concerning. Although they use a different type, they were able to work with my existing braces (instead of convincing me to start from scratch). The pricing estimate for the remainder of my treatment was also comparable to the initial agreement I had with my original orthodontist. Dr. Budd's payment plans are also very flexible for any budget. Over the course of my treatment I have had nothing but wonderful experiences with Dr. Budd's office. He is always thorough, and gives each patient the time they need for good service and address questions and concerns. I always felt that the decisions made during my treatment reflected my best interests, personal goals, and the safest route. Dr. Budd cut no corners, but I was out of braces in a desirable time. I am now in my retainer phase, and even now if I have an issue it is resolved ASAP. Also, they have two locations in the Valley which usually works out to be convenient for me! read more

I would give Dr. Budd and his team 10 stars if I could! I've been waiting to write a review until I was done with treatment, and today I got my braces off. I wound up needing braces in my thirties (for the 3rd time in my life) because I lost my retainers and my teeth shifted. I always had a nice smile, but I became self conscious of my newly crooked teeth and knew I had to take action. I researched many orthodontists in town and decided on Dr. Budd because of his excellent education and online reviews. I went in for Invisalign, but he helped me realize that braces were actually the right option to get the perfect result I was hoping for. I was really nervous and embarrassed to get braces as an adult. I opted for the clear brackets, and it honestly wasn't that bad at all. I had my braces on for 10 months, and it eventually became really exciting to see the progress. I'm a perfectionist, and Dr. Budd always listened to all my concerns. I agree 100% with two of the recent and honest negative reviews, and I am convinced that whoever is leaving the good reviews must be getting some kind of incentive from the practice. This place might seem friendly and quality at your initial consult, but the experience goes completely downhill after that. My husband and I were both interested in getting Invisalign but we cancelled all services with Dr. Budd's office after seeing their deceptive pricing tactics, unclear "estimates", interactions with rude staff, etc. My husband and I are both quite financially savvy and thought we were clear on their pricing- we even asked multiple questions at our consult to make sure that we were clear on all the "discounts" they were offering. Up until the DAY we were supposed to get our impressions for Invisalign (today) we still did not know the final price.
