2022 daily calendar

Sometimes writing reviews make me feel like a Chinatown tour guide. Yes, there's the fortune cookie factory. And that's the popular take and go dim sum store. Oh, there's the gate of Chinatown. Yep, that's the historical alley where many a movie has been made. Well, this store is a converted theater space, hence the slightly sloping flooring. It is certainly bright in here with the fluorescent lighting a brilliant colors of gold and red throughout the store. The gold is mainly from the buddha statues and decorative good luck signs and charms scattered along the walls. The red, a symbol of prosperity in the Chinese culture, is also popular, hence the red envelopes used for gifting mostly during celebrations like Chinese New Year or birthdays. There are also more somber items here like props and supplies used for funerals or to celebrate memorials to family members or friends. From incense sticks to 'Chinese money' (not negotiable currency, mind you) and papers bearing sayings that are often burnt at home or at the loved one's grave site. I came here recently to pick up some daily Chinese calendars, the ones that you need to peel daily. Besides listing the parallel Chinese calendar date, they usually include other words on them ranging from telling you whether it's a good day to wash your hair to inspirational sayings. I am not literate in Chinese to read these, but my parents used to tell me about them. I didn't have any service issues like mentioned in several other reviews. I knew what I wanted, got them and left. Will be back likely in late 2022 to replace the ones I just bought.

Shirt, electronics and gold bars for burning

We live in YOLO county and my Father had a service in the Bay Area and we were able to get the goods for the burning (fake money, objects etc) without having to stop by SF Chinatown . Friendly staff, nice selection. Seemingly reasonable prices

Souvenir shop in Chinatown [San Francisco CA]…read more Novelty shirts 3 shirts for $10.99 City Gifts is one of the many souvenir shops in San Francisco's Chinatown. After stopping at many different ones they all start to look alike at what they are offering - this was our last stop before heading to our car to leave. We peeked inside not looking for anything in particular. One of the highlights of this shop is the collection of unique San Francisco- themed items. We saw these novelty shirts and saw that the pricing was very reasonable. The quality was decent too, not thin material. All the other stores sold shirts too but this was the only store that we actually noticed for the price. We grabbed 3 of our sizes and paid for them. The gal let me know of the 3% add'l fee for using a credit card. Still definitely a great deal in Chinatown! Whether a quirky souvenir or stylish memento find them here and bring a piece of San Francisco home with you from City Gifts. Review #3744

It makes it appear San Francisco is this big city when in reality there are less than 1 million people. Also gets confusing when they think you are saying you are from the Bay but are not from San Francisco. Being born and raised in San Francisco there are a few things the city has that no other city has in the world. Only in San Francisco has Coit Tower , Golden Gate Park, Dolores Park, Mission District Burrito, and great Cioppino. There is a place to show off you arrived in the city and its Only in San Francisco at Pier 39. Inside Only in San Francisco you will see all things San Francisco. You will see hoodies and bucket hats which displays San Francisco. They also have mugs and bags along with keychains and magnets which says San Francisco. It seems like tourist like wearing gear that says San Francisco more than locals ( locals like wearing ironic symbols and logos of SF with nicknames of San Francisco). Remember this place it's not called Only in Frisco or Only in San Fran ( don't start another social media debate about the city name)it's called " Only in San Francisco " Only in San Francisco is located San Francisco not "The Bay" it's located across from the San Francisco "Hard Rock Cafe" next to the big Christmas tree "display" I take no short cuts so it's Only in San Francisco "every day all day" Only in San Francisco is the store "name " but some "claim "The Bay but don't live in San Francisco and it's not the "same " because living in San Francisco is different than living in Pinole, Corte Madera, or "Burlingame"

While I was looking at sweaters, one of the women immediately came up to me and said, "You know what size are you?" in a way that didn't feel helpful it felt like I was being watched. Then when I moved to look at hats, she followed and stood right behind me the whole time. We felt singled out and monitored the entire visit. We are a young family, and I was holding my baby in my arms. There was no reason for us to be treated like we were doing something wrong. The way we were watched made us feel profiled and unwelcome. I hope management addresses this because no family should feel uncomfortable or judged while simply shopping.
