We the owners were left holding the bag. Brent would not sign an updated contract and a completion notice/waiver nor did he enforce our firing of a sub-par contractor.

I decided it was easiest to get financing through thier company they deal with called Service Finance Company Inc . Especially with covid starting up . I asked them if this loan worked like a normal home loan and was told yes . The interest rate looked good at 6.99% so I took it . None of my paperwork I got actually says APY on it . I made 5 payments and was noticing my principle was not dropping much nor did this company feel fit to put all the pay information on the next bill . I just found out this company is basing their fees on what a credit cards gets charged . Sealtight literally lied to me on the type of loan . The work is less than desirable . On tear off day I come home to find pieces of my siding beat to hell and pieces broken . I chewed out the foreman because he was the only one that spoke english . Then they put the roof on . They had some splash guard to put on and so instead of doing it proper they cut my siding and left a piece of metal sticking out of it . They did fix that after I chewed them out again but it looks ugly . After the roof was on they didnt pass inspection because the vents were in the wrong places . I am happy with the end results of the roof and for getting a new roof but I have to wonder how long it will last . What pisses me off the most was being lied to about the loan . Case in point...Have you ever wondered what someone really thinks of you?! Well Paul was here at my house in El Dorado Hills, I asked him to come back because the seam on my wood window sill he promised would not be visible after it was painted, was very visible. He sent a text to his wife that accidently went to me. Please see attached picture of the text if you don't believe this really came from him (I will try to attach picture of the text). Let me quote: " I'm at this crazy ladies house in edh waiting for paint to dry. You couldn't even see the seem (sp) she was complaining about. Total wack job with nothing better to do." Yes this is a text Paul sent about me- his customer! So if you want him saying things like this about you after you ask for him to do what he promised, then by all means hire him. But if you want to hire someone who actually has a "Great attitude" like his logo states, then hire someone else! Let me explain... I needed a window sill custom made. The one we had was damaged by water and needed to be replaced. I explained to Paul that it was a long window sill, 102" to be exact, and he said there would be a seam in the middle. I explained that was not ok, and asked if he could make it with no seam. He said he would have to order the wood, and it would take a few days to come in, and his price would be higher. I said that is fine because it is important to me that it be all one piece. His initial quote was $150, he then changed it to $350 after I asked for no seam. So I paid over double his initial quote to have no seam. He came to install the piece after the order came in, and I saw him gluing something, I asked him what he was doing, and he said he was gluing the end pieces. I said I wanted no seams, and he then said something like " you wont see it after it is painted." At that point I didn't know what to say as he was already almost done with his job. So I figured I'd wait and see if you could see the seams after it was painted. Mind you I paid over double the initial quote to have no seams. And Paul knew how important no seams was to me. Well of course you could see the seams after it was painted! So I called him to tell him, and he was very argumentative about it. He wanted to refund me less than I paid to make me happy. When I wouldn't be able to fix the problem, for the amount he was willing to refund, he agreed to try and fix the problem. He came over and ended up putting bondo on the seams to get them to disappear. Then he painted it with my paint, and allowed it to drip, and crack, and left streak marks on my window sill. So in the end, I paid double to have no seams, and I ended up with 2 seams that he then put bondo over to cover up, and I still paid double his initial quote for a crapy job. Oh and better yet, the price over doubling was supposedly due to him needing to "Custom router the window sill," and he was able to order the exact window sill, and had no custom work done to it. One of the worst experiences I have ever had. Can you imagine getting a text like that from your handyman who is down stairs to fix their problem!? Sucks to be him sending a text to the wrong number! He did apologize, but I'm sorry to say, no amount of apologies could make up for his terrible work, and his lack of professionalism! I am not a wack job! I am actually an attorney with much more education then he gives me credit for. And I have many better things to do with my time than to call my handyman back to fix their botched job. I have a baby and a toddler at home, and I'm trying to get my house fixed after a water problem. It's Christmas time on top of it all, so trust me I have plenty to do with my time. I doubt he understands what a mom does day in and day out! Sorry to say Paul thinks a stay at home mom has "Nothing better to do" than to complain about the terrible job her handyman did! Obviously Paul thought that my request for no seams held no merit, and he felt that detail was meaningless. Please do yourself a favor and hire someone else!

He closed by pointing out that I "owe him the courtesy of a response." Perhaps I do. So to that end, this update. Re the Free-Estimate Thing: Allard, I understand that you offer free estimates as a courtesy to potential clients, and I understand that such a policy contains hidden costs for you. But that does not absolve you of responsibility for showing-up at those estimates, or barring that, calling the client and notifying him that you won't be there. Its an issue of professionalism, not the economics of the policy itself. Re the Courtesy Comment: It perplexes me that you bring up what courtesies you're entitled to when our primary issue is that you were a no-show, no call. A little courtesy from you would have spared us both this whole ordeal - all that was required was a brief phone call from you: "Sorry, Man. I've thought about it and it doesn't look like I'll be able to take the job at your place. Best of luck finding another repairman." That's it. Other reviewers have had the same no show, no call problems with you, Allard. I recommend that you pick up the phone and communicate with your clients and potential clients a little more . . . just a suggestion.
