Stopping over in Nelson, BC for 2 nights, venture out to nearby Kaslo to check out this small town. When we got in town it was pouring rain with high winds. After driving around town to take in the scenery, we found a parking spot right outside of Buddy's! We wanted to try this place from great reviews from Yelp, and here we are right outside!! Our friendly server settled us in and made sure our table was cleaned, decided to get a couple of dishes to share: Caprese Salad : Fresh ripe sweet juicy tomatoes tossed with bocconcini, fresh basil in olive oil & balsamic. Simple yet full of flavour, perfectly balanced acidic & sweetness!! Refreshingly fulfilling! Spaghetti with Sausage & Tomatoes: The sauce being the Soul any pasta dish was made to perfection here! I love how simple the flavour is, with the natural sweetness of the tomatoes, and the slight smoky flavour from the sausages, this mixture blends perfectly with the pasta. With slivers of fresh basil punctuating the dish throughout. The Pizza Bread that came with the pasta dish is by itself outstanding! We decided to get a single slice of Pepperoni Pizza just to give it a try and it was also top notch, the single slice was warmed in their Stone Oven so that we would have that crisp...one word to describe : Perfecto!! The owner and the family that works here really gives their heart to the business, you can feel the warmth from chatting with them and you can feel that the food they serve also has heart!! read more

Why no recent reviews? This place is tops. Came in (family of 4) and shared a large pizza (Hawaiian and "number 1"). We all left full and happy. I've worked in pizza places and ate in many. You can tell this restaurant values quality and puts a lot of care into their dough and sauce. The toppings were generous also. We came back the next day and got take out to eat at the park. We will come back for sure when back on Kaslo! read more

Stopped here on our way home (very long way home!). Not a ton of seating but the place was lively with plenty of families and smiling faces. We ordered the Focaccia and the medium Number One pizza. Both were DELICIOUS!! The sauce that came with the focaccia was my favourite part. Ingredients on the pizza were fresh. So glad we stopped here. This place has the most delicious spaghetti and meat sauce I've ever had in my whole life. I didn't know a simple pasta dish could have that much flavor it in. Well worth the price. We got the Buddy's salad as well and it was fantastic. Highly recommend this place if you're in the area. read more

The pizza is very good, but it's the secret specials for the bread avoiders like me, and the magic touch of Aaron the proprietor that make this place. While the family is eating pizza I have had on different occasions: lamb shank, wild mushroom risotto, a blue cheese and caramelized onion burger on a potato bun and a caprese salad - most of which were never on the menu. He's even ducked out to the butcher next door to whip up a charcuterie lunch plate. Buddy can cook. (And sing, and play pretty much any instrument.) If your party is large enough and you give him enough notice he'll even do dishes to order. Last night he was serving a party of seven some sort of panko-crusted chicken stuffed with stilton and something (mango maybe?). I didn't taste it (was just in for a glass of wine) but it looked amazing and there were a lot of happy sounds coming from that table. read more

Growing up in NYC I was spoiled to believe that the best pizza in the WORLD is there, which it is truly great. Traveling to different places I've enjoyed many a version of pizza, Chicago's rendition of deep dish, San Fran's great pizza rústica. But when I finally tasted what pizza is like from the birthplace of pizza I was pretty amazed that indeed that is the best pizza I had tasted. Aron may not be Italian, or this place in Italy, but he could've fooled me! Vibrant personality warm friendly and super knowledgeable in all things music and food! He creates a welcoming ambiance! -- The food--- oh Superb, crispy crust--- as it should be, fresh ingredients to the point I thought he had an indoor garden... we had a make your own, one artichoke pizza, and the delicious smoked salmon pizza (don't knock it till you try it). Since I had never tried the smoked salmon on pizza I was the only one in my party really wanting one, much to my surprise though it became the popular conversation piece in our party and soon realized I only ended up with one piece!?!
