I was in Newfoundland from Monday to Friday ... I flew in and out of Deer Lake. I had to do a lot of driving along the western side of the province and rented a car from Budget at the airport. The car I had was awesome! It was new with heated leather seats, a heated steering wheel (I want one!) and Sirius XM radio. I rent from Budget when I fly to Deer Lake and need to travel elsewhere. The staff are always very friendly and welcoming. The cars are clean and well maintained. During my last visit, I had noticed that there were some scratches/indents on the back of the bumper of the car that I had been assigned. When I notified the desk agent, he insisted on providing me with another vehicle, as he was not aware how the damage took place and he wanted to ensure I had a perfect vehicle. The one downfall is that sometimes there is no one at the kiosk and therefore the keys can be placed in a receptacle. I am never really comfortable returning a vehicle by dropping keys off and not getting a receipt. However, that is probably just me. read more

My wife reserved a car for us months ago when we got here they told us that whoever had the credit card had to be the primary driver. I don't have a credit card because we always use my wife's, my wife is under 25 so we were told there would be an additional charge of 25 dollars per day for our three week rental. We have used budget in the past and were never given this ridiculous charge. They assured me that its on the website but were unwilling to show me. My wife called head office and was redirected back to the desk where we were given the same line of B.S and they blamed it on hotwire for not sending us an email to let us know. budget has left us stranded in deer lake, all the other rental business's are out of cars. they are unwilling to help us all we get is no for answers even after the hotwire email stated that a debit card would be acceptable. The fact that they are unwilling to right the wrong they've done to us and it seems as though this is a huge racket they have going by holding peoples vacations for a hefty ransom once they have no other options.
