I was able to get a room quite easy and due to a minor issue ( my room bathroom door did not close all the way) so I was able to get a discount on the original price. The room I got was clean I'm happy. God will help you just ask. read more

a friend said this was a decent plce so we stayed. but not for long. first of all our door on the outside you could tell had been broken into a lot. pry marks and cracks and screws into it to hold together. changed rooms but not much better. 2nd floor room with a wooden floor walkway with cigarettes put out on the wood floor and butts and ashes all over. room was decent but smelled so bad. had to have our tv reset twice. parking lot is dark not lit up well at all but there is an older man on midnight shift who is attentive and he watched everytime i went out and came back in that i got to room ok. felt safer. motel definitely needs help but i wont be back read more

my sister has stayed here many times and has alway been fairly clean and very safe at night because of the night man on who watches everytning and allows no problems from anyone. but this last stay was awful. the room was not clean at all, the area outside room was filthy i guess the sidewalk and parking lot have not been cleaned in a long time. the worst was all the garbage piled up all around the property which we have never seen happe. when we saw rats on the garbage stacks we left. i was told ne owners have taken over and all will be cleaned up and property updated. if this is how the new owners act it will not get better. very dissappointed for sure. read more

I left one review for this place and If I could remove it I would! We stayed at this motel for 9 months ONLY because it was a FEW dollars cheaper then super8. But our room was SMALL very small. And they had this huge table right in front of the bed which made no sense because the TV was on the dresser on the side of the room. We had to have the microwave replaced. The phone hardly worked and when it did work it had stastic on the line. The vent over the toilet was falling off. There was a hole starting in the wall near the door. Alot of homeless people from ECTLC were coming over and making a mess. The cops were there alot. One tenant was very disreputive. They kept having fights. One night it got so bad that the girl went to the car and pushed his motor cycle over. Then when security told her to leave she bashed the guys windows out. Then she left. Then at 130 am we heard glass breaking and I went to the window and she had broken the window on the motel room next door to get to the guy. Did they demand they both leave right then and there? Noooo he was allowed to go back in the room and left the next say..then he came back later that night to get the motorcycle..did we get an apology for what happened? Noooo we did not.even get a discount on the room. Our carpet was always filthy. They had a guy come out twice to clean it lol did not work. I lost several pairs of socks there. And the fun part was our dead bolt on the door broke. We had to call the office because we could not get out of the room it took them 2 hours to get it open and they had to go get tools and the manager TIM had to take his son to.a class so we were told to just sit tight and keep the ac on and watch tv or whatever until he came back. He literally had to climb on the ac and almost broke it off the wall to get in they finally got it open 2 hours later and then they could not fix it so Tim the manager told the maintenance guy " just put it on to make it LOOK like there is a dead bolt. We were told they would fix it in the morning. Which actually was the next afternoon we didnt even get a discount ..then to top it off we were on the ground floor and so we were shocked when we saw that our ceiling over the shower was leaking. We told Stacey..she forgot. So we told Tim. He said he would check it out...well by The time he came a day later it was dry so I was glad I took pictures. He said OK we will fix it never happened. We had rain...and a few days later the ceiling was leaking again. So we told him he said OK I'll check it out. Never came to the room. We could not take showers while it was leaking the water was yellow. A few days later he asked me." Is the ceiling still leaking" I said yes. He said OK and 2 hours later he had his new maintenance guy come check it out and he felt it and said yup the dry wall is soaked. He said we will get this fixed in a day or two. Didn't happen. Every time we went to shower we had to spray lysol to disinfect it. FINALLY 3 weeks later..a week before we were going to move permanently out Tim came and said." We are going to fix it next week, your 24 hour move out is Monday you can either come back here or we can give you another room".WE WERE NEVER OFFERED ANOTHER ROOM OR DISCOUNT the WHOLE TIME. We told him forget it we are leaving soon anyway we got an apartment. He seemed shocked and surprised. Well what did he expect? All Tim and the owner cares about is MONEY we never even got a multi day discount. When your paying 2300 dollars for 3 weeks that's NO budget inn room!!! We started with paying 2100 but by the end with ALL we had to put up with and THE DANGER we were put in we paid.2300 or more for the room. The walls were filthy . The carpet was horrendous. We always had KNATS in the bathroom. We had bugs when it was HOT. And With the dead bolt. The violence the leaking roof we were never offered a new room or a major discount!!!!!! read more

I come in town from out of state for work every month i stay here everytime I come In and tonsan diego even know my work is about 45 min drive from the motel . It's great stay very safe and super quite . The rooms are super clean smell good the room are very spacious for a one bed queen size . You can get a two bed they are pretty big in size as well . There is a great Staff and very nice and pleasing to there guest . There is a guy by the name of jc he is very nice and respectful and also friendly willing to help you as much as you need goes beyond his job title to make sure you as the guest is comfortable while staying here . There is a lady by the name of Stacy she is also a very nice women and willgo up and behind for her guest . There is a Manger of the motel by the name of Tim he is a great manager and very nice also so understanding when it comes to any problems you might have at his motel as a guest . Rates are super cheap for what you get and type of room . Mattress are soft same with the pillows . The front desk staff work and make sure the house cleaners clean the room throughly . The parking lot is secured the middle shift desk clerk walks around and make sure there is no problems . The night time guy as well does his rounds at night to insure your vehicle is secure . Overall experience has been great I been booking here for the last 7 months I travel for work so I am pretty pleased with this motel . It's the best motel on main Street in El cajon . I have stayed here the last few years a number of times with my father and usually have a decent stay. Was there recently and this time i have to complain about the only thing here that irritates me and why my father stopped staying here. The manager is great , the day shift people are great and the older man who is on midnight shift is super great at watching the place at night and makes you feel safe. However the lady who works the evening shift and some midnight shifts is worthless. You can never reach the desk by phone or by going to desk as she is nowhere to be found.Never see her outside checking the grounds. i once waited 15 minutes while she was talking on the phone outside and smoking. She totally ignored me. Its a shame she is not like the rest of the employees who are always available and visible. Place is clean and prices reasonable especially weekly rates. read more

my daughter stayed here for several months after going through a horrible divorce and domestic violence ordeal. at first i was very hesitant being in el cajon and all but i was grateful after it. place is very clean,staff is very friendly and helpful and most of all the gentleman who is on midnight shift watches the place like a hawk. any problem,unwelcome people on property, disturbances - you name it he is on it befor you can call the office. i felt very good my daughter would be safe. he even watched when she came in at night that she got to her room ok. made her feel safe. best ive seen at any motel/hotel. will definitely refer people read more

This place is very old, old carpet, furniture and bed. The bathroom is very bad as far as I can see it was clean but had no blue light Hint,Hint .They actually have allot of rules for this place and you pay enough money really to stay somewhere else it feels like I'm signing up for a half way house or something and I never been to one. You get charged for everything I mean everything, I have been traveling the world and been to 3rd world countries and some of the places are better than this. The 2 people I encountered at the front Desk were very nice but to sum the whole thing up you need to see for yourself. Stayed for 4 days here paid $256.00 which at the time we thought was a GREAT rate 3 hours before checkout went down to pay for one more night and suddenly the room that was about 60 a night for 2 people was 72 a night and this was on a Wednesday! The sign says 44.99 per night 197.27 per week at single occupancy and 5 dollars more per person. CLEARLY they are false advertising and looking to take your money by and through this deceptive advertising. Down stairs rooms were obviously the marijuana smoking rooms and they made it clear NO DRINKING OR DRUGS OF ANY KIND and they have what looked to be homeless guys walking the parking lot every night shinning a mag lite in your face asking if you had a room there. The bed got new bedding once all 4 days we were there but they did bring new towels. DON'T FALL FOR THIS !!! FOR 72 A NIGHT THERE ARE MANY OTHER GREAT PLACES! read more

I plan on moving into the place soon. For $1000 I am not excepting Trump towers. I think some people's expectations are too high. If the room is dirty let the mangement know if won't clean it up then be proactive and do it yourself. I agree should not have to but life is not fair. If the room smells goto the dollar store or 99 cent only store. Buy febreze, fabioso, Pine-Sol, Clorox wipes, incense, Clorox or Comat to clean the toilet and bathroom. You might spend $20.00 . I rent a carpet shampooer and run it over the carpet 2 or 3 times, no matter what motel or hotel I stay in. Clean the table, tv remote, window seal, door knob in and out, wash the curtains and bed sheets. Use your own pillows, wash clothes, soap, towels, dishes, sliverware. I am rating 3 stars because I have not stayed there yet but if things go well will rate higher. read more

This was easily the worst stay I've ever had at a hotel. Now, sometimes when I've traveled for business -- they pay for nice hotels. Other times, I try to save money. In New York, I got a place relatively cheap, that was tiny. Yet, it was a thousand times better than this experience. The sign said "rooms from $29.99." I was by myself, yet the room was $47. They originally told me they only had smoking rooms, so I told them I'd try one of the other places nearby (there are a few different hotels around that area). They then said "Wait...let me check again...oh yes, we have one left." The room was the smallest I've ever been in, but no biggie. I was going to sleep, and go to a meeting the next day, right down the street. I saw the checkout was 11 a.m., and asked if I could check out at 11:20, as my meeting was at noon. They said only if I paid $10 extra. I noticed the fire alarm was taken apart and on the shelf. No biggie. I noticed the one chair in the room was ripped up and uncomfortable to sit in. I had to pay $1 for a remote control to use the TV, the carpets were stained, but the worst was in the morning -- I COULD NOT TAKE A SHOWER. It didn't work. I spent 15 minutes trying to get it to work. Instead, I washed myself in the sink (try putting your feet into a sink, among other body parts). I went downstairs and told the woman (in a calm voice), and said "I won't ask for a refund, but it would be nice if you gave me a free stay here next time." She said absolutely not. She then wanted to see the shower...and she brought her maintance man. He spent a few minutes trying to get it to work, and got water. She looked at me with this smug look on her face (a face that looked like a 58 year old woman that hasn't stopped smoking and drinking in 48 years). The guy said "The cartridge is broke, so you really have to mess around with it to get it to work." The woman told me I should've called them. I said I wasn't dressed, and she said I should've gotten dressed. THen the manager told me he would give me $10 off my next room. I said "$10 off $47, or a $29 room?" He said they don't have many of the cheap rooms, and I said "Just give me the ten dollars now," and he said "No, I don't think so. I don't like your tone or attitude." That was odd, considering the fact that I wasn't yelling, even though I stayed in a crap room that didn't allow me to shower for a meeting I had!!!! I'm not sure what kind of "attitude" I should have, when I'm bothered by the service, but it's safe to say -- I won't be staying there again, and think you should avoid the place as well. Too many other hotels/motels in that area to go to this shady place (with weirdos lurking around the parking lots, too) read more

Word to the wise Don't ever rent from here. Don't even come close to this place. The manager was very rude and obnoxious with me from the start. He was a total complete asshole. He objectified my girlfriend several times and continued to harass the both of us and kick us out without a refund. There was no hot water in the room. They only had 14 channels. The microwave I paid for had water and mold in it. And I paid for a fridge and i was told they didn't have any and I was never reimbursed for my money. He went in the room without my permission as a renter. I know one thing for sure. I will never rent from here and I advise you to not rent from here either. They really don't know how to rent. The worst place to stay ever. The owner harassed me because I didn't get out of my car in time even though I was a guest. The lady at the front desk is rude and talks over you. Our room stunk. Nastinss at its finest. First, we all know that "you get what you pay for"... that being said, that is actually a business term that describes a lack of "complimentary" amenities, but here, at this particular Budget Inn Motel, a lack of sanitational direction will certainly be part of those complimentary amenities. I've already taken the pictures. They did not tell me there would be roaches. There are a total of four roach motels in this very room. I keep all edibles in the refrigerator and all wearables in a scrubbed portion of the room, by the door. Every layer of bedding on the bed is filthy. Not a stain on a washed blanket or sheet, but actual unwashed bedding on the bed: when i say there are also pictures of the very layers of bedding (from top to bottom) that i've peeled back, in discoverance of this blatant nastiness, please believe that these owners have done absolutely nothing at all to warrant any bit of vindictiveness on my behalf. Even the guy with the cane, who always seems to be tending the front dest, and Not the person who'd admitted me, even our slight misunderstanding with myself politely opting out of room service, and him assuring me that it would only be once a week for week-long stayers and that i didnt have to worry about it again, even upon returning from work only to discover that someone has been in my room even AFTER personally being assured that i didn't have to wottyu about it again, even THAT didn't play a part in my promt to Yelp this review.
