Peeling paint, a sink that needs replacing and a bathroom with pealing linoleum, a long rusted curtain rod and a shower insert that's seen much better days. I've stayed in rustic motels before, but there's a difference between rustic and neglected. I mean, how much does it cost to replace a curtain rod? It's beyond just outdated. It's neglected. They seemingly did not clean a thing nor do they repair or replace anything that needs care. There were hairs and stains on the bedding, clearly never switched sheets. Bugs, spiders, the bed felt itchy... I can not say enough great things about this place because it would take too long to write all the simple Beaty that this little Inn's has. It has all the basic amenities that you need clean comfortable beds, NO BED BUGS! The carpet it's clean the linens were clean, the whole room was very clean. They are pet friendly, u just have to pay a very small fee for each of your pets, which is understandable & reasonable. It's so peaceful, so quiet, the view is serene, my pets felt at home here and very relaxed so that made the stay even better. We all got the rest we needed. The staff was VERY friendly and kind. They could clean the bathroom floors a little better they are a little sticky but other than that all is great! read more

The problem is that there are few options for staying elsewhere. I would recommend the Oakzanita Springs RV campground. They are a few miles away, but offers a much better lodging experience. This place is worse than any Motel 6 I've ever stayed at--and, I've stayed at a few over the decades. Not the motel's fault, but there were smokers next door to us and I smelled that cancer crap every time I went outside. The sheets were old and were torn in a few places. This is a pet peeve of mine. The rest of the room was ok, a bit dirty. They're obviously trying to save money, as the soap bars were no bigger than my index finger and hardly lathered up. I had to ask for more soap right after my shower! The front desk people were cordial and nice; however, this place is a pit! read more

Sweet country motel, based on the previous neg reviews I was hesitant but it was great. I was able to get a room the same day. It's a quaint little motel right next door to a store which was super convenient since that area everything is spread out. This was a rough one. I loved the town of Pine Valley. Had a great dinner down the street. But this is a tough place to recommend. The bed sheets were old and stained, mold was painted over in the bathroom but still visible, and the door didn't shut quite right. That last one was specifically unfortunate considering the key card sleeve they provide says to lock your (nonexistent) deadbolt,"report suspicious persons", and "verify ID before opening door". Obviously, inspiring much confidence in room safety. The motel is located in a great location with a short walk to the Pine Valley House, Major Diner, and Frosty Burger. Oh, and don't forget to ask for a TV remote when you check in....because that's a thing you must do, I guess. I didn't notice any other options for motels in Pine Valley so not sure this review matters. read more

I don't recommend staying here unless you have no other option. I was on a road trip and needed a quick sleep over. The outside of this motel is cute and looks clean and well kept. The inside is so bad. Old dingy carpet, mismatched paint, sheet and dingy old bed spread (no blanket), my TV had no cable - when I turned it on it had a 1-800 # to call to connect service . It was so gross. Also, randomly, they list their rates. I was charged exactly that, no tax or service fees. I didn't receive an itemized receipt but found it odd tax wasn't charged. read more

I want to be fair and not complain too much so here goes. The location of this hotel is awesome, the room was big and pretty decent for a building that is at least 30 years old. I booked a room on a Friday night for the girl and I to enjoy a quick little get away for a day. The woman at the front desk was nice and helpful with answering my questions about the area. Our room was on the back side of the building facing a field and some hills off in the distance, very nice right ? I drove around to park and noticed a couple of vans blocking the drive and boxes of food all over the place all around our room and on the driveway. There were a few guys moving boxes around in and out of the vans. It was clear to me that they were prepping to feed a large group of people. I didn't mind their obstacle course and brought our stuff into the room thinking nothing much about their mess and noise outside, anyway, it was only about 5:30 pm. All was well and after a fun visit to Golden Acorn that Friday eve, the girl and I got back around midnight tired and ready to enjoy a quite nights sleep in this neat little mountain ish retreat. Bam !!! 4:30 am and we're awoken by slamming doors, banging sounds, and talking outside as if it were high noon and no one else was around but the loud mouths outside our window. We tried to get back to sleep but for the next fourty minutes it was bla bla bla, thunk, slam, and clunk. At check out I wanted to let the front desk know that we had a pretty unrest full sleep due to the fact that our room was in the middle of the rudest group of lunk heads who had no consideration for any other guests. I mean spending almost $90 for one night, expecting a peaceful and QUIET place to escape the craziness of every day living in the city, it's not absurd to expect just that is it ??? The best I was offered for our non peaceful experience was the front desk woman saying "sorry about the noise, I can give you a ten dollar discount the next time you stay". Really ??? That's it huh ? I'm not sure I'll be eager to spend that kind of money again at a place that cares so much about customer satisfaction. All in all the hotel is pretty alright. The customer satisfaction is clearly not something they care much about. I'm not saying "don't stay here", just don't expect quality assurance from the staff. read more

I've stayed here in the past few years but I have to say it's really gone down hill. First off it's dirty and run down. They are using this motel as extended stay, and so it's full of families and construction workers that live here!! Very loud talking and cigarette smoke right in front of your room. We got 2 rooms, one for us and one for our college aged kids. The first room smelled of smoke, when I asked for a different room, the guy at the front desk knew it smelled like smoke and said "yeah I thought they were smoking in the room" geez thanks a$$h*le for giving me or my kids a nice smoky room. So he gave us a room in the back side of the motel. That's where all the crap is. Also, neither TVs working. I don't think they paid the cable bill. He came in and tried to fix it, sat on our bed!!!!! Come on!!!! I'm really bummed, this place could be really cool. It's such a nice location. read more

Single worst experience I have ever had with a hotel receptionist. I cannot recommend based on the following behavior of "Sam" with regards to noise at the motel and I strongly suggest looking for other places to stay. I checked in late Saturday night after an all-day fishing trip and was looking forward to a good night's sleep before my long drive home the next morning. As soon as I entered the room, I immediately noticed that the walls were paper thin and I can hear every word and TV noise from the neighbor. I don't fault the neighbor but asked the front desk receptionist "John" if he could help out. He said he would ask the next shift clerk, Sam, if he could ask them to keep it down. Nothing happened, so I went to the front desk and asked this new person if he could help me out. He turned his back on me preceded to wipe down a table behind on me and answered with a very unfriendly and hostile, "WHAT?" I have no idea why he was being hostile, so knowing that would neither get any sleep that night and was not going to get help from this clerk, I asked for a refund because I was literally in the hotel room for less than hour and did not use the toilet and only 1 bar of small soap. He refused to give me the refund, said there was something wrong with my ears, and that we should go talk to the neighbor about the noise. When we reach my room, he changes his mind and tells me there is something wrong with my ears and that we should check MY ROOM? I tell him to keep the refund and that I was leaving, but that he should think about how he was behaving towards me. He said, "I actually don't care." I responded by saying that I knew he actually didn't care about customer service and took off. As I turned my back and left the office, I heard him yell "FUCK YOU!" through the closing door. I told him I heard that, and he said, again, "there is something with your ears......" I called a manager named "Ray" the following Monday and asked if he could address what had happened. He said he would look at the video surveillance camera in the hotel lobby, and I gave him the time frame when it happened because I really wanted him to see Sam hurl expletives at me for simply wanting better customer service. I have not heard back. Stay away from this place. Worst experience ever with a hotel clerk. read more

If Psycho was based on a real motel, it would be this one. Went here for a night due to having an interview in Pine Valley. The place was $70 I believe and came with free WIFI. Service was friendly, and it's walking distance to the 3 restaurants within Pine Valley. The room had a microwave and refrigerator which I liked because I am not fond of any of the restaurants nearby. Good value for a night stay. Nice for couples trying to get away because it's so quiet and out in the middle of nowhere. Cons- 1. The air conditioning wasn't very central. It kept pounding the bed next to it, but not the second bed which was closest to the bathroom. 2. No hair dryer in bathroom. 3. No makeup mirror in bathroom. 4. TV is ridiculously small. 5. Little motel up in the mountains. If you are looking for a cheaper place to stay with the basics, this place is perfect. Clean, has wi-fi, the usual mini-fridge and microwave. We didn't use the tv but the wi-fi worked great (tvs have been upgraded from what you see in the Yelp photos). We checked in at 10pm and the night manager was friendly and helpful, someone I was happy to give business to. I've stayed in a wide variety of places, and this is a solid, no-frills place to spend a night or two. Note: This would not be a problem for most people, but I'm somewhat sensitive/allergic to laundry detergents with fragrances in them and whatever they washed the sheets in was a bit overpowering for me. My boyfriend was fine and I would still recommend this place if it suits you, but if you have similar allergies you might want to take a few benadryl. read more

We got a room here in a snowstorm and though the hotel is pretty basic we felt welcome and safe.

Mother and father in law stopped in for a night without much advance warning. They were going to stay in our RV but decided that climbing over one another may not make for a great nights sleep so they decided to stay at Pine Valley Inn. There were two rooms left thankfully so we got them one. When we checked in the front desk staff was great and friendly. My parents said that the beds were the best they'd slept on their entire trip. Down here fighting fires and I have to say. This is one of the most nasty motel I have ever been in. Black mold in the shower. Piss stain on the bed. Towels Look like they got them from a thrift store. The best was when I looked under the bed And found all the trash and dirty underwear and socks! I did find a winning scratcher in the bed. This place is directly next to a store that has just about everything. Alcohol to food/produce movies and much more so that is convenient. Location is beautiful. Rooms are prob about what you would see at a motel 6 kinda run down but have the basic needs. Def nothing fancy. I highly recommend you drive the 9 miles up the mountain and eat at pine house cafe. Found this "on line" while on a spur-of-the-moment Road Trip. Sounded like a great out-of-the-way place to stay for one night. Realized once we got to town that this was the ONLY lodging in town!! Looks rustic, mountainy, cool, and nice from the outside. Going off of the looks and reviews we rented a room....... Our MISTAKE!! We should have asked for a key and checked it out first! Everything the the room looked and felt dirty (except the sheets)!! The bed was HORRIBLE (hard as a rock) and the pillows BAD (someone said Memory Foam but the memory was gone)!! My husband and I got very little sleep. Would have got our money back and driven on but it was late and we were tired. Cover on bed looked filthy as did the drapes. Got up at night barefoot and floor (carpet) was STICKY...... UGH!! Put my shoes on after that. Walls had holes in them and paint was peeling. I wouldn't even shower in the place! Got up early the next morning and left but not before my husband killed a big spider on the bathroom floor. NEVER AGAIN!! Since it is the only hotel in town, just keep driving till you hit another town..... TRUST ME IT'S NOT WORTH GETTING SICK! read more
