I've heard its not always like that though so we planned accordingly. Even on a hot summer day in August, we were extremely comfortable lounging here for 6+ hours. We soaked in the Solstice pool on and off throughout the day, laid around on the large and very comfy lounge chairs, ordered delicious drinks at the bar which was just a few steps away (partner loved the cocktails, I loooved the mocktails), and munched on the yummy food they will deliver to you at the pool. They do some cute things like periodically bringing around chilled towels, or frozen grapes, which we may or may not have become obsessed with and making our own ever since...oh and some great musicians were playing that they said was an impromptu performance. Really lent nicely to the atmosphere. Overall, a great way to spend a birthday! Resting, recharging, luxuriating, and unplugging. This protects the fidelity of the mineral water pools. When you first walk up, there is a check-in camper. When you go in, they'll give you the information that you need for your room and stay. We opted to rent one of the private homes because of our group being larger. It was about a 2 block walk away from the resort which wasn't bad at all. The town is very small and you can literally count how many businesses are here. It's pretty cool. It was a very nice visit and I highly recommend coming to this resort and hotel. The 2 mineral hot springs pools are nice. I recommend that you upgrade with a stay so that you have access to the secluded pool, which is really private and a level up. People get day passes, but that only works at the main pool. The main pool gets very, very crowded with day pass attendees. Again, I highly recommend upgrading with a stay so that you have access to the very very nice amenities. There is a restaurant, called Long Shadow, and I'll have a separate review for that. Overall, this was a wonderful and great trip.

Doors did not lock and not all furniture was unpacked so we had to put it together ourselves. While the view and the birds were spectacular, our hosts were not. We would leave work and things would be moved around when we came back, which was invasive and perplexing since there was no maid service in the four weeks we stayed. On several occasions after working the grave shift in the early morning there would be knocks on our doors and occasionally fire alarms would be set off. One day after days of our doors never locking (both the hallway and sliding glass doors) they decided to do maintenance to finally have the doors properly lock, and lock them when they were done. Well because none of the doors to our rooms locked many of us stopped carrying the keys, and upon arriving to locked doors it was hard to get in contact to be let into our rooms. As much as we appreciated being lodged in this clean facility, we could have done away with the hostility and confiscation of personal property from our rooms.

April 25-28, 2025 ROOM COMFORTS: The water was always hot. The single, queen size bed was comfy. The heater worked flawlessly. The TV had a dedicated weather channel and local San Diego news channels (the rest I didn't bother with). I did not use the fireplace, although it looked inviting. The room was also furnished with an attractive Hamilton Beach microwave that harbored express buttons and specific buttons for "time cook," "frozen dinner," "pizza," my favorite the "+30 seconds" button and more. Another amenity was a rather tall, Hisense brand refrigerator/freezer (I could lean on it with my elbow and I am 5'9"). The floor is focused on cleanliness. Don't look for wall-to-wall plush carpets here. The chance that you will walk in with dirt clumped to your footwear is pretty high. These floors are faux wood type of flooring that is amazingly simple to clean. Yes, I tracked in dirt, but I was able to do a hand-sweep onto my laminated PCT permit and dispose of it, easily enough, in one of the two room provided trash cans. HIKER FRIENDLY: I was provided with a bucket and it was explained to me that I could wash my clothes in it or soak my feet in it. Additionally, it could be used for hauling groceries from the general store back to my room. A packet of laundry detergent was complimentary and I was able to ration it to clean a sunhoodie, a pair of sungloves, two pairs of socks, two pairs of toe socks, a buff, a bandana, 2 pair of underwear, a Brynje mesh thermal, a pair of gaiters, a pair of pants...AND still have some powdered detergent left over. I am frugal like that. BACKPACKERS & LAUNDRY: Please exercise common sense. If you are a backpacker and are staying here doing your laundry PLEASE do not dump the laundry water down the shower or sink drains, or even in the toilet, when it is muddy/murkish and full of debris. Save that action for your final, soap free rinses which should be clear. All other buckets should be dumped, as instructed by management, outside on the ground. My process was to fill the bucket 1/2 way and simply soak each item, wring them out and dump. I did this twice with my most soiled items (once for all others). Following along with my dirtiest items was bucket #3 & #4. Those included detergent (my cleaner items only required one wash "cycle"). #5 was a rinse bucket #6 included Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Soap strictly as a much welcomed aromatic. Bucket #7 was a final rinse bucket. This manner of washing (seven buckets that were half-filled were truly required for my hoodie and pants. Other items required less to get them to the "final rinse" bucket. I am not saying you have to do the same, but that worked for me, and stayed within the guidelines of the proprietors... keeping in mind that I had unwashed clothing since Campo. STAFF: John took care of things in a timely, professional manner while I was still 4 miles from the turn off. I loved that this wasn't his first rodeo, as he knew precisely how to calculate my arrival time, even when I said I was hiking slowly (due to a photography/video project I was attached to). You'd be hard pressed to find a more well-defined example of customer service excellence. LOCATION: If you have never been to Mt. Laguna, like myself, you will find that everything isdelightfully within walking distance. For backpackers, the United States Post Office just happens to be next door to where you check-in. So if you have a resupply box coming in, it is a very short walk from your room. EATS: If you want a meal, you could either put something together from the general store or... I found two options. One is across the road and the other a short walk toward the Burnt Rancheria. Keep your eye on BBQ specials that exist on the weekends across the street. You will want to eat the pancakes at the other place. I also had the Fondue and a plant based cheese burger there. So good food can be found easy enough. If tou want to drive to this location, dont worry about parking. There is plenty on site. Overall I enjoyed my stay here.

Bring your own cooking gear to use the 2 burner stove, including a way to make coffee (or bring it premade like I did and keep it in the fridge. There are multiple trailheads nearby without having to drive and then need an Adventure Pass to park. I'm not a hiker and only ventured off the campground to get to a truly dark spot for stargazing and photography. The grounds are home to so many different birds and I enjoyed capturing as many as possible with my camera. The Laguna Mountain Lodge brought me back to childhood. My first summer camp was not too far from here and the scent of the pines and everything else brings instant nostalgia.

With comfortable rooms, beds, bathrooms beautifully decorated and fully stocked for the Holidays. The deck extends the whole length of the house with an incredible view of Lake Cuyamaca! I live in a lovely home in Julian (2400 sq ft) with a view of the Cuyamacas. This 2500 sq ft house competes... with everything you could hope for when getting away in the mountains with every convenience and comfort on your getaway! One of the employees was repeatedly going outside to a car that was parked outside while we were trying to get assistance, which made the whole experience feel even more unprofessional. The biggest issue was when we asked about the complimentary shuttle service. The employee told us she would call and let us know. We went up to our room to get ready for the evening and waited. No one ever contacted us. We eventually called the front desk ourselves, only to find out that they apparently don't make those calls at all. We felt completely ignored. It's unfortunate because we actually liked the hotel and our room. The property itself has a lot going for it, but the interaction with these two employees really affected our first impression and overall experience. Hopefully management can address the customer-service issue because a welcoming front desk makes a huge difference, especially after guests have traveled a long way to get there.

But it's really when you get up to the room that is impressive; probably one of the nicer rooms that I've stayed in which a nice open area with a mini bar, desk and living room. The bedroom is in a separate room and much to my surprise, there was a special birthday setup on the bed for me (loved it!). And can't forget the extra large shower with rainfall faucet and all the amenities you would need. On to the spa. Amazing. While it's on the smaller side I had a great experience, from the attentive staff that made me feel welcomed to the massage and near-private hot tub/sauna/steam room and lovely pool area. It's adjacent to the regular hotel pool that you also have access to as well. If you get a service you can use the amenities all day with in and out privileges, such a nice relaxing day if you ask me. So while I'm limiting my review to the hotel and spa, the Viejas property has so much to do. The casino is a short walk from the hotel along with a variety of restaurants. The outlet mall is literally across the street and has a bingo hall and bowling and also had a seasonal skating rink. The golf course is also a drive down the road. Viejas has a pretty good reason to stop by on the weekends in August 8-9and you don't have to spend a dime. Every Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m.-7 p.m., they're giving away a different piece of a bedroom set at the Promotional Center. So far, I've picked up the U.S. Polo queen-size sheets, comforter, and bamboo pillows. Next week is the plush throw--and everyone needs a good throw. Keep it on the couch, toss it in the car for winter, or bring it out when you're sitting around a bonfire. The giveaway itself is simple: bring your casino card and ID, let them scan them, pick up your item, and keep it moving. No purchase required. Now, there is one catch: self-control. If you walk into a casino like a kid walking into a candy store and suddenly the cards and machines start calling your name, that "free" comforter might become a very expensive comforter. As for the quality, I've actually been using everything. The sheets have been great during these hot nights warm enough with the A/C running but still cool enough when it's off. The comforter is incredibly soft without being overly fluffy, and it works nicely with my duvet. The bamboo pillows are light and airy. So far, Viejas is slowly furnishing my bed one weekend at a time. And at the price of FREE, I have absolutely no complaints.

This review is mostly for the Viejas hotel as they have two on the property. I was offered a early check in which I was happy about and the gal in the front asked if I wanted the tower that faced the outlets or the tower that faced the parking garage. Naturally I picked not looking at the parking garage but as I settled in and put my bathing suit on I realized I had to walk through the casino with all my stuff and not too many clothes on that I asked if they would move me. They gladly did and again a room was available, thank you for that. The first thing I noticed when I entered was that there wasnt enough light and nothing was automatic. The curtains were hard to open and close because chairs and tables were in front of it and all the lights had to be switched on and off which was a little annoying for me. The elevators were slow but there was always housekeeping in the hallway if I needed any extra coffee or water and they were all really nice. You also couldnt log into your netflix or other streaming services which was a bummer. They did even have a cucumber lemon water in the lobby which was really refreshing as well. The pool was nice and had a DJ on the weekend but there was no service and no food as well. Just a walk up bar that was closed on Monday when I went, On sunday I did come down in my regular clothes to sit in a "cabana" for a moment when I was rudley asked to move as it was for reservations. I did see a reservation sign on the same bed the day before and it wasnt on there on Sunday so I thought it was ok to sit but the guy working there who didnt seem to like his job let me know he cant have me sitting there. I think next time they should just leave the reserved signs on there so there is no confusion and or just let someone sit if the pool is not even busy anyway. I did need the light to work so the lighting part cut my work time and they had robes and no slippers. Hopefully next time I stay it will be more available. I did win at bingo so overall I left pretty satisfied :)
