I found myself here because I needed a cheap place for a one-nighter. You know the saying, "you get what you've paid for." That applied for this location as well. Although I found everything in the room to be clean and in good working condition, this motel was showing its age. Also it did not look like a very good area. There were definitely some sketchy people loitering around the motel and the surrounding area. Thankfully, I'm not a light sleeper, but for those that are, there was a lot of traffic noise as it is located close to the 8 freeway. Do not stay here if you're traveling alone. There is no on-site parking, and you're expected to park in a nearby lot. I don't feel like my car is safe there, and I don't feel safe walking back to my room from that area. I'm currently sitting in my car waiting for a closer spot, and multiple other guests are dealing with the same issue. There are also several spaces coned off that could be used, which makes it even more frustrating. This is a serious safety issue. read more

Booked a 2 Queen Bedroom very last minute for a 1 night stay and the only few things I can say that were good/decent were 1) the price for a room. Rooms nowadays can cost an easy $200+ a night and we were able to book a room for $125 tax included. 2) AC worked really well and blasted out cold air which was a plus. 3) the towels were really soft. I know this isn't a big deal for most but I really dislike rough hotel towels so this was a plus for us. 4) hardwood floors!! Major plus!!! Aldo at the front desk was very friendly. We exchanged some small talk while he checked me in and was able to accommodate me with my request for a room on the 1st floor (we have a 4y.o boy, if you know you know!). He also asked if we brought any pets in which I replied no and he waived the $200 security deposit!! Never had this happened before so that was really nice of him! Things we didn't like: 1) the walls are extremely thin and our neighbors kept slamming the front door all night so it was a bit hard to sleep. 2) the mini fridge was dirty and had ice stuck on the back. Some compartments were also missing. 3) there was hair in the sink 4) lots of people out smoking and lounging. Not that it was bothersome but because of the super thin walls, there was a lot of outside noise. Overall, it was a decent stay for a last minute need. The beds were pretty comfortable and the rooms are more upgraded than most rooms I've stayed at. Not exactly the best area because there was a cop car parked out front all night but close to the freeway and gas station. Staff was friendly and plenty of free parking on premises. Wi-Fi was not the best, I didn't receive most my texts/notifications until after I disconnected from the Wi-Fi. The microwave was also unplugged, however we had no use for it. Don't stay here!! This is clearly not a place for a regular family vacation! We stayed here for a long weekend to go to SeaWorld and Sesame Place. On our third night here we asked for 2 additional towels. They told us that it would be an additional $20 charge. The funny thing is the night before they gave us towels no problem and no mention of charge. I called and the front desk employee "Kris" was rude and dismissive. He didn't care and said it would be $20. I've never encountered a hotel charging for additional towels. The room also smelled so bad of cigarette smoke we had to go out and purchase a candle. The room is ok but a little run down and the outside is dirty. I had to spend an hour on the phone with Expedia and they did their best and have great support, but when Expedia contacted Kris he maintained the towel fee and told them to call tomorrow for the manager. Very disappointing stay. Apparently they want a different clientele than families and would prefer the seedy looking men that loiter around. This is an outstanding place to take a staycation in El Cajon. I stayed only one night, but I was so impressed with the quality of everything about my room, even the sheets were so smooth and high quality, with that high thread count. The carpet was nice and thick, the room included a microwave and a refrigerator of decent size. If the room was large in pretty pleasant, and so was the staff. This was the most disgusting hotel we have ever stayed in. There was hair in both beds, wet water rings on the nights stands from previous guests and blood in the shower. Pictures attached. Also when we asked to change rooms we were told there were none available but the morning crew told me there were. Also I went and got clean beds to changed our stained bed sheets that also had cigarette burns on them in a non smoking room. This was the Super 8 at 445 hotel circle in San Diego, CA. There was also a "lady" changing her scantily clad outfit in her trunk outside. The two girls, that I showed the pictures to, at the front in the morning were not helpful with the situation. I can put up with many things but the blood in the shower hit my limit. We stayed in room 227 on May 20 and left May 21. I just want people to know. 1st they disregarded my reservation for accessible room and allowed others to keep room (just kept saying occupied). So gave me another room so couldn't take shower. The room was okay but the overall exterior of motel wasn't clean. Felt like I was in a 3rd world country like Iran. People were totally loitering outside. I checked into this Super 8 on a Wednesday, and checked out on a Friday. I wanted to ask a question after I checked in, so I attempted to call the front desk. That's when I noticed that the phone in the room had no dial tone. I looked at the back of the phone. There was no cord attached. I looked behind the nightstand. I saw no phone jack in the wall, nor a cord. The phone is just there for DECORATION! I went to the front desk to get quarters for the laundry machines. The young woman at the front desk asked me how many quarters I need. I politely replied, "How many quarters do the machines take?" She replied, "I don't know." I expected her to turn to a co-worker and ask, but instead she just stood there and said nothing. So I said, "Why don't you ask someone else who works here?" She hesitated and still did nothing. I said, "Surely someone who works here knows exactly how many quarters the machines take." So finally, she got on the phone and called somebody. Then she told me that she only has four dollars in quarters. This wasn't enough to do one load in the washer and one load in the dryer. Why provide coin laundry if you're not going to provide sufficient quarters? That's like a tire store selling tires without tire installations services or an air hose to put air in the tires. Finally, I got more quarters from another guest who happened to be eating breakfast while I was there. So I went upstairs to the laundry room. When I came back downstairs, the cleaning lady was furiously sweeping the floor. I paused at the bottom of the stairs to ensure that she saw me, then I proceeded to walk back to my room with my laundry bag. After she looked at me, she continued to furiously sweep dirt onto me as I walked past. I told her that she just swept dirt on me. She just looked at me and didn't apologize. She obviously didn't understand what I said, apparently not a speaker of English. I then demonstrated how she was sweeping onto me. She still didn't understand. I learned to use a broom to sweep when I was a young child. Common sense dictates that if a person walks by, or if I come to an area where food and/or eating utensils are present, I stop sweeping. When I got back to my room, I called the front desk (from my cel phone because the room phone is merely an ornament). I tried to explain what happened to the lady over the phone. It was the same lady who gave me quarters earlier. Then she began to argue with me and talk over me. She said, "First of all, she wasn't sweeping in the laundry room.", insinuating that I was lying. I replied, "I never said that she was sweeping in the laundry room." Obviously, she wasn't listening to me. Then she continued arguing and talking over me and said, "Don't talk to me like that." multiple times before she hung up on me. I did NOT yell at her but I was upset because the cleaning lady swept dirt on me. I called back a few minutes later and asked for the owner or a manager. She asked for my name. I said I want to speak to the owner or manager. She kept asking for my name and number. I gave it to her. She still didn't pass the phone to the owner or manager and said to call back in 10 minutes. By this time, I had wasted enough time trying to make a complaint and it was nearing checkout time. So I hopped in the shower, shaved, brushed my teeth, and packed up all my belongings and put them in my car. I left the keys in the room. A few minutes later, I called back again to ask for the owner or manager. Her reply: "They're gone. They already left." I asked her if there is anyone else working in the motel beside her. She replied no. This was a few minutes past 11 a.m., which is checkout time. I find it hard to believe that all of the hotel owners and managers, except for one person, would leave so early. Also, every time I woke up in the room, I woke up with a stuffy nose and sleep secretions in the corners of my eyes. This only happens to me when I sleep in a room or bed that has a lot of allergens, such as dust, cockroaches, etc. When I sleep at other hotels or homes, this usually doesn't occur. I WILL NEVER AGAIN BOOK A ROOM AT THIS SUPER 8, NOR RECOMMEND THIS MOTEL TO ANYONE. Their employees need to receive a LOT of customer service training. read more

I was staying with a friend at the Super 8 in El Cajon. My friend is mentally ill and she had a lot of luggage with her, so I knew it was gonna take her some time to vacate the room. I went to the front desk and told them that it was gonna take a few minutes past our late checkout time of 1130am. I have actually stayed at that hotel and the Northgate motel right next to it several times and I know one of the owners lives in property at the Super 8. So I went and let her know about the situation and instead of understanding she matched into the room and started taking her luggage out of the room and then she took one of her bags and threw it at my friend. My friend called the El Cajon Police Dept. And she was told she could make a citizens arrest. This is how they handle someone who is mentally ill?? I was considered a resident at the Northgate and was told by the front desk and the husband of the female owner that if I got her off the property they would not ban me from staying there. I told them that ECPD was there and could not do that right then, so I was banned for having a mentally ill person in the room? I'm contacting Wyndham after this to see what they think.Chatlotte the female owner will also knock on your door in the morning and before you can say or do anything she will open the door and she has been reprimanded several times by resident guests and does not care. The good parts: Well if you are taking the time to read these reviews, most of them will say the bed was super comfortable. And that is true. The bed was extremely comfortable and will put you into a coma. Which you're going to want because the rest of the stay gives you extreme anxiety. The shower was also nice but the towels felt like literal sand paper. The bad parts: Well to start, there are LIVING cockroaches inside the mirror/lights in the bathroom. The area this hotel is located in isn't the best and there were several people on the street and in the parking lot that didn't give you the best peace of mind... there was a man screaming profanities at a woman in the parking lot right next door and when I woke up around 2AM, there was now police and a fire truck in that same parking lot... You can tell some interesting individuals have stayed here in the past based off the graffiti in our room and the plastic-wrapped smoke/carbon monoxide detector... When I told the front desk all of this and showed them the videos and pictures I took, the guy just smiled and said, "thank you, I will let management know." First of all the staff here is rude rude rude. I made a reservation online where it did not state if the room I had booked was smoking or non-smoking so when we arrived we we're given a smoking room which was not ok. Kindly two young guys who were in the waiting room actually told the guy it's ok trade our room for theirs if it had not been for them we would've been stuck in smelly room. Second of all since when is a direct website considered third party? I told the guy I reserved on the super 8 motel website directly according to him that's third party like hotels.com or expedia.com which was hilarious to me. On top of that he didn't care to actually try to accommodate our need of not being in a non smoking room he was being very rude. The room was huge I can't deny that and was clean. They have a mini fridge, microwave and safe in the room we had as well as an ironing board. What I didn't like was the fact that the next morning I woke up itchy all over. Not sure if it was the over excessive amount of bleach they use on their sheets or if they had bed bugs. We didn't go to the breakfast in the morning so I couldn't tell you if that was good. According to the nice man who trade rooms with us their breakfast is good. Also check out time is at 11am at exactly 10:20 housekeeping was knocking on our door and trying to open it. When we came out of the room they still had the nerve to ask what room we had come out of. This was housekeeping asking this. I would definitely not recommend this place at all. TERRIBLE!!!!! I booked this through Price Line and I was scammed. First they took the money from our bank account the day before and we thought it was all paid. Ha we get there and we are told we have to pay a 100 dollar security deposit. No one told us we had to pay out MORE then our motel bill. Then we get into the filthy elevator to go to the room and the room was bad. Hardly ANY lighting. So we had to keep the window and curtains open to get light. The TV did not really work. There was no internet. The outlets were weird there was NO place to plug in our cell phone adapters. The outlets were too big. The bathroom was SMALL no room to walk it was like the size of a small Porta potty. And it stunk! I have no idea what the smell was but UGH. And it was like a sauna in the bathroom. Too hot. There was no closet just a bar to hang up a few clothes. And there was what looked like a safe in the "closet" yet we did not know why it was there. No explanation. The water coming from the sink was like a sprinkler so we had to watch that we didn't get water all over us. There is a sign in the office that says no pot smoking yet people were smoking it left and right. We had to close out window alot. There was drug dealing outside in the parking lot all night. There were kids running up and down the hall all night and they were so loud and heavy it shook the door. The carpet was filthy. The bed was hard to sleep on . They actually took the cushions OFF the couch so you could not sit back comfortably. The so called contentenal breakfast was hilarious. It was a BAD night. The rooms are decent for the price, so in that respect the value is there. However, the workers will harass you if you are not out by checkout time. We overslept and even after apologizing and explaining to them they continued to knock at our door every two minutes as we were packing up. I understand we were wrong but we were less than 15 minutes late, and they knocked at our door five times in 15 minutes after we apologized and said we would be out ASAP. I would have left two stars but they also refused to hold our bags when we wanted to go get lunch. They said they don't watch bags for guests, surprising because even motel 6 does that. You absolutely get what you pay for. If you don't pay much, don't expect much. The floors were redone and there were noticeable gaps in the panels. The bathroom door stuck so getting in and out was a bit of a struggle. There were paint stains and stains on some of the walls. The beds were really hard and we woke up aching. We just needed a place to try sleep and shower while we were in the area. The hotel isn't in the best of places. There were a lot of homeless people hanging around and it's on a busy street so traffic noise can be an issue. Some homeless people wandering around but you see lots of those in California these days. The only problem we had was one day the maid came by to clean the room but we were still getting ready for our day so we told her to please come back later but she never did. This person was so very rude and told my husband we had to find accommodations elsewhere and did not even try to help us. It's the middle of night we had no other options. I checked in early in the afternoon on Friday of Memorial Day weekend and I thought the room looked nice and I was perfectly happy. I was relaxing on the bed when I found a bed bug. I was so freaked out I immediately rushed around and put all my luggage on top of tables and went down to the reception desk. In hindsight I should have put a glass over the bed bug, but I knew what I saw and I didn't want to touch anything more than I had to. I just wanted to get out of the room. The woman at reception was perfectly fine but she said there were no rooms available and would not refund my money even though I had barely touched the room . She went up with me and we looked in the room and the bed bug was no longer visible. I was so sure I would eventually get a refund I didn't make more of a case of it. I work in senior residential services so I definitely know bed bugs and I also know that I don't want to be around them at any cost. Since this happened, over the next month, I tried contacting the manager at least 10 times.. I emailed them this picture and a couple others. The manager is supposed to be the only one who can do anything about a credit but he is never in, even when I call at the hours that reception says he will be there.. I have left him my phone number multiple times and he just refuses to call. I would have to say that this is just a horrible business and I am trying to get my money credited back through Visa if for no other reason than the fact that the management is so disrespectful that they won't even talk to me. read more

We had reserved a wheelchair accessible room with a roll in shower. Arrived, check in, and the room had a bathtub with grab bars which my wife couldn't use. We told front desk and they stated they have no rooms with roll in showers and it was a mistake by the booking company. I checked multiple booking sites and all say wheelchair accessible with roll in shower. Either they gave someone our room or they are using bait and switch tactics. My wife and I have stayed here on two different occasions now, so I feel confidant in my review. This hotel has always been clean, and the staff has always been friendly. There is a fridge and microwave in each room, and they offer a (limited) cold breakfast in the morning - cereal, toast, danishes, muffins, juice, etc (no waffles). Also included is free parking and free WiFi. The beds were comfortable - not amazing, but not bad. There are a lot of places to eat in the area as well as a shopping center directly across the interstate. They do have a very small outdoor pool (about 20' x 20' x 3.5' deep) that we have never used, so I can't say anything about it except it isn't the prettiest thing to look at. The price is pretty good for the area - El Cajon is a fairly short drive from downtown San Diego, and this hotel is right at the corner of the I-8 and hwy-67. Getting to and from it can be a bit confusing at first because there is only ONE way across the 8 in that area, and it is to follow the signs to get on the 8. Then quickly take the first exit to the left for Magnolia Ave. Some (dumb) people think it's cheaper to just pay the higher price in the city because of the drive, but here is some quick math for you to help you decide for yourself: Lodging for 1 night with 2 double beds including tax (hotels.com booking): $61.71 Distance from to the center of Hotel Circle Drive (The San Diego Hotels): 14.5 Miles Distance to San Diego SeaWorld (Because that's where you're going!): 18.5 Miles Distance to SeaWorld from Hotel Circle Drive: 18.5 - 14.5 = 4 Miles Typical lodging expense for 1 night at Hotel Circle Drive including tax: $110 Estimated Lodging and Gas Expense: This Hotel Total Costs: $61.71 + ((14.5 miles + 18.5 Miles) / 25 MPG * $4 / G ) = $66.99 Hotel Circle Total Costs: $110 + (4 Miles / 25 MPG * $4 / G) = $110.64 Estimated Nightly savings: $43.65 Notes: 1) Assuming 25 MPG and $4 / gallon of gas. 2) Miles calculated from initially driving past Hotel Circle Drive, and then back to SeaWorld 3) Initial miles getting TO Hotel Circle Drive not Considered in either case. 4) This does not factor meals, but there are MANY fast food places around this Super 8. read more

Pro's :- Rooms look new, located right off the freeway, about a mile from the mall & many shops/restaurants, 20mins to the beach, 10minutes to Sycuan casino, free continental breakfast (toast, pastries, cereal, coffee & juice), free parking (not much but there was always space). Nice, clean, hot & powerful showers. Great value for people just needing a comfortable place to stay. Con's :- Looks a little shabby from the outside, elevator seems like it might break any minute but luckily the stairs arent that bad, the pool is a joke (it's about 12' x 12'). read more

This place was the ABSOLUTE PITS!!! I only stayed here because the room was already pre-paid through a 3rd party. The rooms were straight up NASTY!!! The walls were stained, the curtains were old and REEKED of smoke. I had to have housekeeping come out to change the bed clothes as soon as i got there. THEY WERE DIRTY AF!! The pillow cases were dirty, this places SUCKS. I know no one would totally take my comment seriously bcuz everyone thinks their experience will be different. Well i took pictures. Ive stayed in a Super 8 before in AZ, and the place was spotless. These people just dont care about their property. On the side of parking in PLAIN VIEW, they have mattresses and dressers stacked up. I felt so uncomfortable in the bed that i didnt use the comforter or sheets to cover with, AND i slept with pants and a shirt on. I didn't want my skin having any contact with the bedding. This hotel is not a kind one. They had my friend check out at 11 even though she requested another night AND even though it was the same room as well. Just to come back to our room, after we checked in at 3, not cleaned no trash taken out, NADA. Though, the maids that came to our rescue helped us out and did a great job in such a timely and clean manner, that is ridiculous. First, we reserved a room with a roll-in shower for a wheelchair. We were given a room with lesser handicapped accessibility. When I tried to discuss it with the clerk, I couldn't even finish what I was saying before I was interrupted. Finally I gave up and emailed my reservation and a photo of the non-roll-in shower to the hotel. Apparently the clerk got the email and tried to fix it by putting us in the correct room the next day. I believe he tried to hide the situation from management by handling the problem on a private email account. Then, in the correct room while my wife was showering I saw a cockroach in the bathroom and when she touched the floor with her wet feet they left mud. I finally had to clean her feet with a baby wipe once she was in bed just to get them clean. There was no coffee pot in the room, again I got a defensive attitude from the clerk and I was told that only rooms where the coffee pit hasn't been stolen have them. I tried to find a way to contact hotel management and have been unable. Wyndham rewards after 12 days is trying to buy me off with points for a free stay. Not good enough! read more

Stayed here on 5/31, and so glad we made a reservation online - they were entirely booked up! I definitely recommend booking online and for a weekday, the cheapest options. Great, comfortable and clean room with a great continental breakfast in the morning. Had a great stay! read more

One word, Roaches! I stayed at this hotel on Halloween 2013. This was a horrible stay, not only was the front desk clerk rude (Katy), but i found a live roach in the room. The clerks excuse was everyone has roaches.. well no, I've lived in my house for two years and haven't seen a roach because i get it sprayed. Very disappointed and disgusted.. read more

I Stayed here on Nov-23-14, my hubby and I came so tired for being driving from Las Vegas/Big Bear so we decide to stop driving and rest until next morning. Why do I gave 5 stars to this motel/hotel? Well, 'cause even do I was a few minutes apart from home (I lived in El Cajon) I felt like I was miles away. Everything was clean and neat. Not problems at all. Honestly I haven't enter to a motel/hotel where includes a iron board and security box for the same (cheap) price!!! They always charge you extra for EVERYTHING!!. The bed (king size) was so comfy and clean (the 4 pillows and the sheets) the only thing for I could complain is that they don't provide a bigger size of their shampoo and soap, but it's ok. I guess you all need to do is request for more or extra to the front desk and you'll be fine. I love it and I'll stay again with my eyes closed.
