My wife and I decided to check out Buds while on vacation. WOW! This place is amazing. The people are beyond friendly and welcoming. If you're on vacation and didn't bring your own or if you want to try something different, they have hundreds of rental firearms. My wife wanted to try something different so we rented a full auto MP5. She had never fired one before so one of their RSOs went over it with her. They do a great job keeping things safe. The range is bright and well ventilated. I was really shocked by their prices. I couldn't believe how inexpensive everything was. We will definitely come back next time we are in the area. read more

No in store warranties on any of their guns and, no sympathy if they sell you a defective weapon. I was basically told "tough luck", "it's your problem" and, "contact the manufacturer". All they care about is getting your money. After that, your roadkill. I have done thousands of dollars worth of business with these people, I came to them with one problem, all of a sudden, no one knows me nor do they want to talk to me. This insolent follows another one from about ten days ago where a manager told me to shut up and called me a liar when I complained about one of his employees. So I've been to various gun shops and this is by far the best hands down. Apart from the extreme level of cleanliness in the facility (not a spec of dust in sight) the staff is wonderful! Everytime I go I find myself having hilarious conversations with them and it makes being there such an enjoyable experience. One person I would specifically like to mention is Mr. Steve, a range master and all-round amazing guy. If you need help he is your guy. If you need tips he's your guy. And if you need a good laugh he's hands down the guy! As a Florida boy I have always wanted to visit Buds and honestly it was better than I imagined. Brought a family member from NY to Buds range to shoot machine guns for the first time. Looking forward to a great time. NO such thing happened. VERY disappointed! Frustrating. No fun to be had. There was a very limited selection (4) to choose from. We picked the MP5. Spent almost $100 for 2 of us to shoot. Gun started jamming every 2 or 3 rounds after first mag. After 100 rounds (we bought extra) and 15 or 16 jams, we decided that this sucked and called it quits. The range assistant had the nerve to ask us if we wanted to buy more ammo!! It was the worst shooting time i have ever had. So much for showing my family a good time at this place. I asked to speak to a manager and after explaining the situation he said sorry and walked away!!! TERRIBLE customer service! Terrible guns ! They are not maintained. Avoid !!! read more

My wife and I recently moved to the area and were interested in purchasing a new fire arm for her. We were helped by Charles and his service and advice was outstanding. He worked with my wife to find her the best gun that fit her grip and had the easiest slide rack and controls for her smaller hands. He even helped me with the purchase of a new 1911 and G17. He took an active interest in what we wanted and made suggestions on areas we weren't sure about. The old guy at the range rental counter was extremely rude when my boyfriend asked if a gun was California "real" meaning Locked mag vs another type of mag. His response was "Vs imaginary, yes" with a rude tone and laugh. I think this "man" needs some customer service training! Very ugly response to a potential customer and soured our first visit. Meh... the store is nothing like the website, Prices were no better than what I could have bought the gun for in PA. My son wanted a gun, and we have been looking to buy a .17 bolt action. Price was the same as PA, Might have saved a couple bucks buying it back home, but now I can say I bought a gun a Bud's. The store was laid out nice, not overcrowded with racks. Was nice to walk around and look at everything and not miss anything. Most of the items on their website, can only be purchased on their website. Kinda bummed. Oh well. Let me say first that I've been inside this location many times. I've only made one purchase at this location. Here's the long and short of it. The store is very nice and clean. The guns are reasonably priced and sometimes extremely well priced. The staff is friendly once you beg them to speak to you. When I go to make a purchase, I expect to at least be greeted. Never once have I been proactively greeted at this location. That's why I've only make one purchase. The only reason I made that purchase was the price was too good to pass up. If I could make a suggestion to management, it would be to encourage the staff to greet customers and be friendly and approachable. I've got some more purchases to make and will only consider this store if the price is $100 less than the competition. I honestly don't mind paying more for a better experience. read more

When I got back into target shooting, I thought I'd try Buds for some ammo. Seemed to be good product and good value. And, indeed, this was true. That's the good. Now for the not-so-good: from that point on, I was inundated with email ads from Buds. I tried to unsubscribe several times, each time unsuccessfully. I went so far as explaining that I knew where they were if I needed them and to please stop spamming me with their ads. All of this was to no avail. So, if you don't mind your inbox flooded with their ads, do order from them. As for me, each unwanted ad I get reaffirms my decision to never order from them again. read more

I love coming here not only to check out some great guns but because the staff is so nice!!! Steve the safety instructor taught me how to hold the gun and shoot(first time using a gun this year) and man is he knowledgeable. He's a retired law enforcement officer and has more information than you can imagine. I loved taking the course with him. I pop in every weekend or so to see him and show him how far I've come. (Reply 7/26) The confusion is that you folks do not understand or interpret the law correctly. I have lived in Hawaii for years, and regularly purchase and transport ammunition legally from KY, TN, VA, GA, and other states back to Hawaii aboard commercial airlines 3-4 times per year. LEGALLY. The law you reference applies to residents IN HAWAII. I was IN Tennessee. That's the difference. Yours is the only store, ever, to deny me local sales. Now either the dozens of stores (small shops, individual FFLs, and large chain retailers) that have and do sell me ammunition are breaking the law despite frequent and thorough ATF inspections, or you're getting it wrong. Which seems more likely? I have brought ammunition to my LEO friends that couldn't find what they wanted here in Hawaii. Are they also breaking the law? Compare this to alcohol (still under ATF jurisdiction). If a person who lives in a "dry county" drives to another county to buy a beer, is that store prohibited from selling to them because they are from a dry county? Of course not. I even buy ammunition on the internet, from Hawaii, billed to my Hawaii address; I just have to have it shipped and delivered to another state. I have it sent to my daughters house, in my name, for transport in my suitcase back to Hawaii. There is nothing illegal about any of it. Now for the record, I don't think you are missing tons of revenue due to this erroneous policy. But if you are this far off on this law, what other mistakes are you making that could be costing you more? You have been led to water; drink or not, the choice is yours. Aloha. read more

Found the store to be nicely laid out and not inundated with excess stock. Was a little surprised at the openness of guns ( shotguns and semi's ) out on the floor for display. Greg in the range is rude and condescending. Susie and Jacque in rentals are awesome. Greg was so rude to us we will never go back. Tried to buy guns 4 times there. Each time they were out of stock. Finally purchased two at Floyds. Floyds was very good to us. We are very disappointed because we wanted to range shoot as a new hobby and got two wonderful guns to do it. Went on a mission. Looked and fondled several lovely ladies (handguns). Did not feel pressured at all in my decision making. Finally settled on one to which I wanted to try out. To my disappointment, they didn't have one for rent. However, I was able to sweet talk a very sweet employee to use her personal and I then fell in love. Walked back up front to make my purchase and was told to look elsewhere for a better deal on holsters. Wow! This surprised me but in a positive way! Will I be back? You better believe it! It's a shame...when this facility opened...their pride was obvious in the details. I stopped in this last Sat their men's restroom was a disaster.... Filthy! Their employees were on computers...chit chatting around the registers and their gun reps were walking around.....chewing the fat! Where's THE BOSS? 2 OUT OF 3 stalls were out of order....seriously? I summer here from Florida, and this is the best gun shop I've ever been to...and we have plenty of gun shops and ranges in Florida to choose from. This place has it all!!! The information I received from Burl and Frank enabled me to be suited perfectly to the new firearms I purchased... With their knowledge and personal info I picked the perfect handguns for protection and range shooting. In the past, I have purchased a couple of pistols from Buds and had no problem, I even recommended Buds to family and friends. Back in June I had put a Springfield Armory 1911 Range Officer on lay away. I paid that off Friday September 18th. The next day, 19th, I tried calling Buds in Sevierville to find out if my gun was there to pick up. The line was busy and operator told me to try online. I got on Buds Gun Shop online and used the recommended chat method. I told the lady my order number and asked if it was available for pick up. She replied "Yes, its available in Sevierville, TN. Today, September, 21st, I drove from my hometown of Crossville, TN to Buds (93.7 miles). When I got there I gave them all my info., but no gun was available. I talked to the manager Mr. Garland Strong. I told him I just drove from my hometown to pick up a gun that I was told was here. He explained to me that Buds Gun Shop in Sevierville is not responsible for what Buds Gun Shop online does or says. He offered no apology, and quite frankly, he didn't seem to give a damn. Now, as a former Combat Marine, and current Registered Nurse for the state of Tennessee, I was saddened and disappointed the way I was treated. I will never buy anything from Bud's again. read more

So far, I've been very happy with them. I have called a few times ahead because of the distance and when I went, the customer service was spectacular eventhough they were fairly busy that night. I mostly spent an exorbitant amount of time at the rifle counter talking to a guy named Brian. He was wonderfully helpful and didn't make me feel stupid (considering my complete lack of knowledge in the area). Which is a big deal considering I was intimidated going in being a solo female and didn't want to recieve halfassed treatment like the other places I have been. I did sort of expect their selection of fire arms to be considerably larger when you look at the website and watch the video. But it wasn't bad. Probably something in comparison to BassPro / Cabella's. Their firing range seemed okay at first blush. I'm waiting to go back and use it on date night (1/2 off on Friday evenings). Otherwise, they are true in stating they have the best pricing around. Trust me, I've been doing an exhaustive amount of calling around to find the best price on the rifle I want. My review is solely about the physical location in Sieverville. I ordered a rifle thru the bigger online store. Again, the pricing was good there. They even let you negotiate on certain items. The only thing I'm not happy about so far is the wait time btwn them taking your money and it being shipped. So once it arrives I update this status. read more

I came here with my son for the first time a few weeks ago. I have taught gun safety to my kids since birth. I have always wanted to shoot a fully automatic weapon and they rent them here. I was very impressed with the selection of weapons in the store, the friendliness of the staff as well as the prices of ammo and weapons. The prices for shooting fully auto were very reasonable and the attention to safety by the staff was second to none. We had a great time and will be back the next time in the area. We visited Buds Gun shop in Sevierville TN 8/15/17 on the way to visit relatives. We were there at 10:10 right after they opened I had been looking forward to renting MP5. When we got to the rental counter I told the woman I wanted to rent MP5 and she said it wasn't possible until about 11:30 because she didn't have a second range officer. We needed to leave town at 11:30 to go to families house so I couldn't do it. I went to front and told the Young woman at the front counter I wanted to talk to someone about the lack of information on website concerning MG rental. She asked what the problem was and I told her I really wanted to rent that MP5 and what the woman at rental counter had said. She went to get the manager and he said no problem you can rent it I'll get another Range officer. We ended up spending $120 on MP5 & extra ammo then $109.00 on a concealed carry purse that my wife loved. That's $229.00 worth of business that almost walked out the door because of one lazy employee. I did thank the young lady at the front counter repeatedly for her assistance, and the Range officer was a very helpful young man that even got my wife to squeeze off a magazine. We went in to shop and shoot and the range attendants were complete idiots. You could t do anything right to them and they sure waned to let you know it.
