They allowed each person to choose 6 colors of paint. My only complaint was the color choices were limited, you could only choose the paints with the black dots, but we made it work. They supplied everything one would need. We were there for so long we seen a shift change, lol! But both workers were so nice! Overall, the place was clean, they had enough tables and chairs for everyone, and they even hold parties or events. Our pieces look a little dull currently but we will be back in approx. 1-3 weeks for our finished, bright and glossy plates! We will definitely be returning and recommending this place!

Making art together with your friends is a lot of fun--but having everyone sit down to make the…read moreexact same painting (as is the approach at many "wine & painting" studios) seemed a little lacking in creativity for my friends. Instead, we decided to meet at Whimsy By Kelly--and everyone had a great time! The studio is very convenient (the plaza is on Delaware Avenue, just south of Sheridan; her storefront is on the side facing Glencove Ave.) and there's plenty of parking. While it's in a newer commercial building, the 1950s vintage tables and chairs make it feel warm and inviting--and just the right amount of quirky. For the party, Kelly consulted with me on what kind of activity we wanted to do, and we settled on a Zentangle crash course. Zentangle is a meditative drawing practice that anyone can do--you don't have to be "good at art" to make successful drawings using this method! Best of all, all of our artwork looked different! With the tools and techniques she covered, we were each able to produce something unique. She also sent us each home with a little drawing kit so we could practice on our own. In addition to Zentangle, she also offers LOTS of other art classes for kids, teens, and adults. There's something for everyone, regardless of skill level or experience--you can even do finger painting! We really enjoyed our evening and look forward to returning soon for another group "art night."

They have free and low cost art classes for kids and adults…read more Each season, they have a selection of scheduled structured classes for which you can register for a small fee. Those classes very season to season- pen and ink animals, print making, special ceramics projects, photography, etc. I took a 3 session Monet class, a figure drawing class, and an intro to pottery wheel class for a fraction of what other clay studios charge. My Monet ended up hanging in the lobby. Each season, they also have open art studio time - kids drawing, teen/adult drawing and painting, ceramics, senior sessions, and more. Three week days and Saturdays the center is open and you can work on your own projects with an instructor on hand for questions or advice. All the materials are provided. Everything is free with suggested donation amounts. This is such a wonderful asset to our community.

The venue also has a lot of unique works by other artists on display, and a space for large music. They host everything from concerts to art shows to author signings, even burlesque.
