Fairways were plush..Greens were horrible...worst I've seen in a while...paired up with a very nice couple

Late afternoon 4some in February. We had great weather. Tee boxes and fairways were good but greens were horrible.

Greens were the worst they've ever been. Unplayable. Sand filling and weeds all OVER putting surface. Aerated would have been a better playing surface. Fairways on back nine were not as hydrated as front nine. Has become overpriced as it's $85 a round as opposed to $38. Poor handling in the last 8 months. Do not recommend and can't say I will be back. read more

Good starter. Our group of 6 played two threesomes and a good time was had by all. The turn had replenishments. Good for kids too!

This is the 2nd time I've tried to use the range with no luck. First time: says course is open till 5:30. I showed up at 5:17. Told me they sell the last buckets at 5:15..,really, two minutes. Second time: showed up at 4:45. Sign on door says range closed. Someone told me the cart to pick up balls was broken. You do realize you're in the service business right. Range is never in good shape. The mats are like hitting off hard felt. read more

Played this course several times last week. We liked wide fairways and some challenging holes that makes playing interesting. Really good choice for intermediate level players. Course is in pretty good shape. Couple greens need additional attention. Overall is good choice with reasonable price or is good value. It's a bit far away if you stay in Sarasota. read more

This Course is usually in good shape, (2.5 to 3 stars) but some jerk decided to drive a truck over the greens and destroyed them, they had to move the pins off the greens that were ruined....They failed to mention that when we payed to play the course. Which is way to much for what you get. In the summer you can get on this course for 20 bucks. I have a hard time understanding how this isn't considered "Price Gouging".... read more

The course wasn't in terrible shape. Unfortunately, this place doesn't have enough golf carts and this becomes the customers' problem. To try and make up for this, the starter tries to line up 5 groups at a time on the first tee. We ended up having to wait on every shot on the front 9 because they stacked tee times to go along with their cart shortage. We were tolerable of waiting, however, until we finished the 15th hole and were greeted by (apparently) the course pro, slurring his words and telling us we were a hole behind and needed to pick up the pace (not sure how we could with the group ahead of us) or we would need to skip a hole. He was in flip flops and obviously intoxicated. We played on. Three of us teed off on the 18th hole and as the last person in our group was teeing off, a ranger started approaching up the middle of the fairway, preventing him from doing so. The ranger then said that we needed to pick up our balls and drop them up on the green and "they would give us a par ", because they needed carts for those who didn't have one yet. We pushed back a little and he refused to move, stating that he was just the messenger. We then took our bags off the carts and walked the 18th hole so that we could finish the round we paid for. As mentioned earlier, we had been waiting on shots all day and we were no more than 10 min behind pace. You'd think we were 5 hours in the way we were being treated. Sure enough, the ranger went back and brought another crew member to bring our carts in. I went in and told the gentleman at the Pro Shop my thoughts and he said he was unaware and wanted to give a free round, which we did not want considering the circumstances. Attached to this photo is the group of folks waiting for carts because the place only has 20. So their idea to fix this is to make others give theirs up early. read more

Booked a 12:15 t-time for today. At 12:20 I asked them for a rain check because they're 11:54 t-time had not teed off yet. The course is backed up between 30 and 45 minutes. They have no golf carts available which is part of the reason why they're so backed up, and they are playing currently at a 5 1/2 hour pace. They would not issue me a refund or rain check because I booked through GolfNow. So I called GolfNow to request a refund because they are unable to meet a t-time within 45 minutes of the expected time booked. The pro shop lied to GolfNow and told them that I left before my t-time actually took place and they were set to get me off right on time. That is a lie. Good news the t-time is only worth $30. Aside from the fact, the pro shop lied to GolfNow, the course is set up with a horrible pace of play, which leads me to believe management doesn't control the pace of play there whatsoever - that, and the course is never in good shape. Due to the people working there I have no intention of returning. Is it cheap? Yes, it is. But in this case you do get what you pay for, and here not a good experience. read more

My favorite course of all the south of Tampa courses. It's a really nice setting, pleasant folks check you in, laid back style--no rush, good pace of play. Decent greens, lots of water/sand hazards to keep you on your toes. Wooded areas all around--carry extra balls! Can be challenging but fun. Seems longer than it is, though some fairways double back and you're playing opposite the next hole. Watch for Chubbs, the gigantic gator, at the 16th hole (though he moves around occasionally). Thoroughly enjoyable and worth the $$. read more

If you want a cheap round and don't wanna lose a golf ball this is the course to play at. Reserved the first tee time as a single on vacation and brought my gf to ride with me. Upon walking in they tried to make me pay for my gf who wasn't playing but after telling them I didn't know and was here on vacation they let me go but said next time you need to pay for her. I was paired with another single who also brought his gf and it was chill. The starter was a little rude and almost didn't believe I was playing but hitting a bomb in front of him felt amazing. The course all in all is in rough shape. The fairway grass is was not mowed and really long which made it hard to hit quality shots and the rough wasn't terrible but was still tall. Some of The greens have blue patches on certain areas under repair and others had just dead grass spots or sand and not to mention the greens were like 10-15 ft wide. The tee boxes aren't long but you can tell someone dumped sand on them because if you tried to hit an iron shot without a tee you were basically playing a bunker shot. There are some down trees from the hurricane that was a bit ago but honestly it didn't have any effect on the course or how I played or viewed it as they were all out of the way. I'm a pretty good golfer about a 9 handicap and my long game is usually pretty good but the long grass honestly felt like it affected my score probably adding 8-10 strokes. For how strict the course managers are it's not equal to how nice the course is managed. It's not crazy expensive and there are some nice hole layouts but I expected it to be nicer for how strict the employees were and how much I paid. If you're looking for a cheap experience and like hitting out of rough every shot this is the course for you! read more

My wife and I went there this morning (Tuesday) around 10 Am, tried to play nine holes. Lady working the pro shop said 9 wasn't allowed. She would get in trouble. She admitted there were no booked t times for quite a while, but couldn't allow us to play 9. Ridiculous. We got a large bucket of balls and went to the range. For over an hour, only one couple headed to the 1st tee. What a waste to have a golf course and no one playing. Instead of $13 in revenue, the could have had $80. This place must be owned by the city or county- That's the way they do business. What a waste!!! read more

I enjoyed playing here, unfortunately it was my second round of the year so my distances were way off. The location has a range and battery powered carts. The location does have a bar and grill. There were a handful of doglegs and other interesting holes. Good greens and the fairways were in decent shape. I got a great price on golf now, I would play again at the discounted price The 18th hole is fun, if you push the ball right you are in the drink, if you go over the green you arenin the drink....found myself there and 2 gators were hanging out. read more

Let me list the reasons to avoid this course. 1) Pricing policy is ridiculous. If you book early you pay through the nose. Much cheaper to wait till day before. However if you need 2 or 3 tee times in a row you may or may not get it. You can't plan for 8 or more guys by waiting till the day before. No other course we play has this foolish pricing policy. You would think they would want small groups to make this their preferred course....obviously not. 2) Pro Shop Staff may be least friendly of any golf course we play. how about just smile once in a while! 3) Not enough golf carts & therefore you have to wait until your tee time to get a cart. Again no other course has this issue. 4) Pace of play is usually very slow. We have been behind 5 some, drunks on the first hole, & beginner golfers (we all began at some point but have Marshall ask them to pick up and keep moving). 5) Course condition is mediocre & less than average condition. read more

4 Stars for the openness and condition of the course Ok, since I'm terrible at golf I can appreciate a course with large open fairways and zero houses. Those two conditions alone make this one of my regular courses. Add in the great condition of the fairways, greens and most importantly (for me) the roughs and it's a very nice course. With so many courses to play in that area you can find any level of challenge that you're looking for and Buffalo Creek has a few tricky areas. The prices are usually pretty fair too... read more

I booked a tee time for 10:51 on 3/13 over the phone on Friday, 3/12/21 for a next day tee time. The person speaking with me said it was wide open. Told me about multiple tee times and said it was 55 a person. When I got there they made us pay 75 a person, there was 4 groups in front of us, and we didn't tee off until 11:20. They said it was only 55 if you prepaid online. They told me over the phone they will charge us 55 and the lady at the counter was rude as hell about it. I will never come back to this course. Pay $75 for 18 for a course that's not worth $35. Rude staff. Bad greens. Very unprofessional. Why am I booking a tee time when they let 3 groups on in front of me? Paid for 18 holes and played 9 due the fact that they over booked the course. 2 hours and 45 minutes to play 9 holes. Went to the pro shop to ask for a rain check and they couldn't do it. It's definitely a poverty golf course. Friend from out of town rented clubs that were bent, bathrooms weren't supplied and they don't have anyone to manage the pace of play. I'm actually surprised they wouldn't give me a rain check due the the fact that I moved here in January and have played 6 rounds already. It clear that customer relations don't matter to them but I can promise that if they don't change the way they do business their rating is going to plummet read more

Was there a couple Sundays ago and you had to wait a half-hour beyond the T - time to get a cart (poor course mgmt.) and noted "singles" in carts (added to the problem). We had 4 foursoms on one hole, yet no mgmt. to address the "log-jam". Only got 9 holes in, not the 18 I paid for. On other days I have had issues with the cart attendants giving me an attitude when the brakes were not working safely and I returned them for safer carts. Recent over-seeding of the course did wonders for most of the grass. read more

We had a good time at this course. Arrived early and the ranger agreed to let us play early. The greens and fairways were in good shape. The rough was forgiving and we saw six gators in different ponds. The greens were a bit slow and small. The staff was friendly and greeted us with a smile. read more

Had a horrible experience at this course today. The range officer was incredibly rude to us because we had to wait on the folks in front of us. Said we need to hurry up or we will be kicked off the course. Sorry dude but there are plenty of courses in the area shouldnt treat your customers like that. Couldnt believe how rude this guy was to me and my father. If I treated my customers like that I would be out of a job on the spot. The guy wears green sunglasses. read more

A marginal course at best, but the price of admission is a bit steep for the quality of some of the holes. $50, while a season fee, is about $20 too much when you see how poorly kept the course is. To To top it off the tee times were stacked way too close together so there was constantly a push and it made playing the game in a relaxed state somewhat hard. I would suggest heading into Bradenton or Sarasota and finding a higher caliber course if you are willing to spend this kind of money. read more

Course is fine. Played here a few times and every time they show they have a bunch of wide open tee times on Golf Now and on their web site. Then you call them, same thing, wide open. Got there today at 1045 for my 11AM tee time and didn't tee off until 1130. Plan on a 5.5 hour round here. They jam everyone on they can to take advantage of the snow birds down here. read more

Idiotic employees, none wearing masks, rude and ignorant . I can't understand how a county owned entity does not require employees to wear masks but that's the way it is. My friend and I try to play there every week. Nice fairly plush medium speed greens and very little ground under repair. Price is decent but not great. The only reason I gave it 4 and not 5 is because they have gas powered carts and they stink. They have a decent little place to have a beer and a dog if that's your thing and the men's rooms are clean. Fun course. read more

If you're looking to simply enjoy some golf in March/April this is great deal! Greens are true. Water levels way down but expected during the dry season. Fairways decent, rough was burnt up but, again, expected during dry season. The courses is in good shape and they are challenging holes . The overall layout of the course is also very good . The Staff on the other hand need people skills . We have called numerous times and always seem to get a lady that's is rude , so we wait on a tee time and go to other courses. I hate to say this about this course since it is one of our favorites . We travel around and play at many this one left a sour taste for us .. I hope it changes .. soon read more
