I had a good experience here selling clothes. I got the app and joined the queue on the app so I didn't have to wait in store. I would figure recommend doing the same so that you don't have to wait too long. I felt like their prices were fair but seems like they don't take H&M items even if they are on trend. read more

My wife and I came here, as we have shopped buffalo exchanges in other states. This location was very busy. A lot of people standing around and pushing their ways through the aisles. Have good items, but of course, they are pretty pricey. I found some name brand items like adidas and Nike, but they were overpriced. My wife found some clothing that she ended up buying some shirts. The fitting rooms were always busy, but to be expected. Overall, one of the better locations I've shopped. read more

Updating my review after a few more trips here, both buying and selling. While I still like this location for both, I've been noticing more and more how inconsistent they are with what they take. It truly just depends on who is working the selling counter when you're there. Almost all of my clothing is high quality, in good condition, and trendy/seasonally appropriate. Some employees there will buy almost everything I bring in, while others are incredibly picky and will buy 1 or 2 items in a bag full of nice things. I've had an item rejected by one employee, and then I bring it back a week later and another takes it. It's often luck of the draw on who handles your sell vs the quality of items you bring in, it seems. I do find some good pieces at reasonable prices when shopping here, but the layout of the store makes it SO cramped. They need to allow more space by the door and the checkout area. Half the time there are legitimately no exit paths between racks when I attempt to leave, and I have to push my way through. It's definitely hit or miss here, but it's still better than a lot of secondhand stores. read more

Quite possibly one of the hippest thrift stores in Andersonville. The youngins flock and shop because cool kids know where it's at. The inventory quality is on point and is put together in such a way to strike a certain vibe that resonates and keeps em coming back. I have to admit, I've been in the store maybe three times total and have tried on a pair of shoes that have caught my eye at least two of those times so you kind of dig where I am coming from on this. In the last few months I have purchased such treasures as: -a Garfield cutoff sweatshirt -a Selena Gomez concert T-shirt -a bridesmaid dress for my bff wedding -a modern, minimalist necklace -a 70s turtleneck sweater sans sleeves As far as selling: the key to successfully selling for me personally is to sell things you're a litttttle sad to part with. The old stuff that you're like "yes ew get this OUT of my life" never really sells well. But the things that you KNOW are truly special and nice are the ones they will maybe buy. I will NEVER set foot in this place ever again. Even Crossroads bought more of my stuff. I brought in good brands in good condition. Approx. dozen and a half men's shirts and a few pants - the pants I didn't expect them to buy anyway - knowing I would just walk them up to the Brown Elephant. They bought 2 pairs of sneakers and a pair of pants. That's it. As the "Buyer" was looking over my my stuff - I looked over their stuff & except for a few pair of sneakers - the place had junk - at least in men's. Good Luck. Let me preface by saying I have 4 years of retail experience. I know the ins and outs of what it's like to work retail, and normally I don't write bad reviews because people have bad days. I have had GREAT experiences here in the past. Typically, the employees are friendly and welcoming. However, I went in looking to sell some clothes and one of the workers there was AWFUL. First of all, they were whispering into their coworkers ear a couple minutes after I came in which made me very uncomfortable, it felt like they were talking about me. The store was very crowded so I decided to stay up front and out of everyone's way. I wish I hadn't. The person I am talking about (heavy eyeliner, don't know their name or pronouns) picked up a sweater I had in a bag and faked gagged. They then threw the sweater back into the bag and forced it all the way to the bottom. THEN they whispered to their other coworker, who was the main person looking through my clothing. I walked out of the store and started crying. I have not had someone make me feel that bad about myself since high school. Would NOT recommend coming here (to sell or buy). Brown Elephant is right down the street, it is cheaper, a better thrift store, and a way better environment. I have never walked out of there crying! read more

Buffalo Exchange in Andersonville is the newly opened second location of the buy-sell-trade clothing chain in Chicago! Although I like looking through the one on Milwakuee Ave., it can be hard to shop because of the tight space. This store is spacious and easy to navigate. I went in on a weekday afternoon to sell for the first time, and one person was ahead of me, and it ended up being about a 15 minute wait. I checked out a few racks while waiting, and the styles I saw were a mix of vintage revival and trendy fashion, which lends itself to fast fashion. All the associates were friendly, but I wasn't surprised when the buyer couldn't find anything to buy from me since I had minimalistic and preppy styles in my bag. They are buying pieces with for a certain look in this store, and it didn't offend me that I didn't have items that fit into that. To that end, it's a place where you can put together creative outfits with fun patterned tops, funky colored bottoms, etc. read more

I went to Buffalo Exchange to trade in some old clothes and to shop for some new ones. The person who looked over my clothes was really nice and explained to me why some clothes she accepted and others she didn't. She didn't accept all of my clothes, but I still got quite a bit of credit for the clothes that they did accept. I liked how you could get store credit or cash from the traded in clothes. The clothes in the store were in good condition and I ended up finding a lot of items that I liked. The place was very well organized and everyone who worked there was so nice and helpful. This place had exactly what I went in looking for - short overalls, urban outfitters, for $15. Perfect. The store has enough room - even on a Thursday evening it was not very busy and comfortable to browse.
