We had a poor experience with Painters Plus a year ago. We hired them to remove a popcorn ceiling…read moreand paint our dining room. We were quoted about $2500 and a few days for the whole project. It cost that to just remove the ceiling and I had to paint the room myself in the end after they worked in my house for 3 days. One of their employees went through our basement looking in all our cabinets. His footprints were all over the basement and cabinet doors were left open. Thank God we locked up some of the basement rooms. He must have been on drugs because his painting as messy. He got paint on my screen door and parts of our screen door that should never have been painted. He used a roller to try to prime all the molding which was questionable. He was fired a day or 2 into the project because he was stealing from the owners. So, be cautious, as I am not sure of their vetting process for their employees. Communications with the other painters led to problems as they could not understand English well, which was challenging. They did not prep well before taking down the ceiling so I had a lot of extra work getting dust out of the house afterwards. However, their work on plastering the ceiling was done very well. The owner was out of town and this communication with the painters was not overly timely...it ended up being like a bad game of telephone. I also would not agree to an hourly rate for services rendered as I feel that we were taken advantage of with the price. I knew it was going to cost me closet to 5K for the project if we continued, so I had to halt it and paint the room myself even though I had very limited time. I would NEVER use their services again.

Jake and the other workers were friendly and very concerned with my satisfaction of the work being done. They arrived on time and gave full days of work. Trevor did a terrific job and did a super neat job for us. In the past they painted our kitchen cupboards and the walls and island. It was such a great job that it was like getting a new kitchen for a fraction of the cost. I would recommend them to family and friends. You won't be sorry if you hire them. So good and so reasonable. We will definitely use them again in the future.

I told the person doing the quote I wanted exactly what I had done previously. I was contact in August regarding an opening to do the job. I was Called on Friday 08/14 stating the person would be there to power wash on 08/17 Monday at 8:30am. Monday came and he was a no show. I contacted the Supervisor much later in the afternoon and was told that he was tied up on another job. Tuesday 08/18 someone showed up to power wash. He completed the job in less than 15 minutes. He then came back the next day and stained one length of the fence in about 1.5 hours. He then left without saying anything. I checked the work and the part he stained was hardly done. The remaining fence was also still dirty. I again contacted the Supervisor who advised me he ran out of paint and would be back the next day. I checked the 5 gallon paint bucket he left sitting on my lawn which had 1/2 of the paint remaining. I again called and asked for someone else to complete the job. I heard nothing for more than a week when I again called and spoke to the Supervisor. He stated they would have someone there the next day. This person arrived and said they could not re power wash as that was not something they were told to do. He completed the project but did not stain the wooden tiers in our landscaping as was done before because it was not in the estimate. I stated that I told the initial person who did the estimate I wanted that done like before. This person then asked for payment and also told me that the person who came for the first day said I agreed to $300 more for the project due to size. I never had any conversation with that person at all and he was gone without speaking to me. The job is now done, but certainly not to the level as years past. I will not being using this service again.

However, the project was not completed until nine months later. I had expected the job to be finished within a few days. Throughout the project, I repeatedly contacted Braendel to address areas that had been left unpainted and sections where the paint had peeled from the cabinets. Braendel painted over cabinets that were more than 50 years old without sanding or priming them beforehand. I can personally attest to this because I was present throughout the entire project and observed the work being performed. As a result, the paint began peeling. I called several times requesting that the cabinets be repainted. Although Braendel later used a more expensive paint, the peeling problem continued. At no point did the owner or project manager contact me to ask whether I was satisfied with the work. Instead, a different painter was sent each time I reported problems. During one visit, I overheard a phone conversation between the company and the painter they had sent. Someone from the Company asked, "Is she for real?" The painter replied, "Yes. I am now painting the ceiling that was not completed." Even after these issues were addressed, the project manager never contacted me to discuss the quality of the work or my satisfaction with the project. Eventually, the last painter assigned to my job, Eric Godlewski, took the cabinet doors home and repainted them. I was pleased with the quality of his work. Before he left, I asked whether he knew anyone who installed replacement windows. Mr. Godlewski offered to do the work himself. Based on my positive experience with his cabinet work, I agreed. Mr. Godlewski measured the windows, purchased them, and stacked them on my back porch. On March 31, 2022, I gave him $4,300, and he provided me with a receipt. After that, I never heard from him again. I was out $4,300. To make matters worse, the windows that were purchased were all the wrong size and did not fit any of my window openings. Because they could not be returned, I donated them to Habitat for Humanity. I chose to work with Braendel because the company had a good reputation. Since then, I have learned that Mr. Godlewski has an extensive criminal record. In my opinion, Braendel should have exercised greater care in selecting and supervising individuals representing the company. I contacted Dan Bishop, the project manager for Braendel, several times regarding these issues. He returned only one call and informed me that Braendel was not responsible. He never responded to any of my subsequent calls. Would I do business with Braendel again? Absolutely not. Shelley Ruh
