I hired Darling for painting my entire home (~ 1200sq ft) and exterior shutters (16). The job was done on time, actually a full day earlier than i expected, on budget and with the most fantastic project / site manager / supervisor I have had the pleasure to work with in over 30 years of moving and renovations. (For me, as career military that's includes 18 moves and 7 remodels). First impressions matter to me --- and I was very pleased with the first face to face consultation with Bill. He listened to me and my concerns for the project and looked me in the eye and gave me lots of good options. The Darling team lead recommended a few different paint options and the ones that I selected were aligned with my budget, quality of work I wanted and need of the specific rooms (especially a heavily wallpapered / panel bathroom that was in need of a huge makeover.) All the paint and paint related products were fabulous and did the exact coverage and tone I wanted to set for each room. (I had a total of 5 different products for walls / shutters.) The on the job team, led by Victor, was impressively organized and had to their own area of best practice that was very complementary to each other. The team rotated slightly depending on the needs of the project, but the core team of Victor and Kim (attention to details specialist !!!). Weather turned out to be a plus and minus --- a heavy rain day meant that the external workers were added to my interior job and helped my project's timelines. No wasted waiting times or down times because of forces outside our control. Really liked that dynamic tasking and re-organization by Darling's leadership. Each day they cleaned up, stowed their gear in a non-interfering manner and made sure I had a function kitchen, bathroom, shower and sleeping area. (I had arranged to sleep and shower somewhere else but I didn't need to.) Victor and Kim --- and the other team members ensured the utmost care of my personal property and were very considerate of me and my home. The team's overall attention to detail, work ethic and considerable care truly impressed me. I will have them back for the rest of my remodel including a garage, three porches and outbuildings. This was a poor experience. We hired Darling Paint to do some drywall finishing around a fireplace. At first glance it looked fine but as we started priming the wall it became obvious that it wasn't sanded well. It was lumpy and uneven, especially in the corners and even cracking towards the top. I called Bill Darling and asked him to please send someone to touch it up and he quickly became quite rude and disparaging... calling me "honey" in a patronizing way. Beware, this is another company out to do high volume at low quality and honestly.. the guy is kind of a jerk. A few hours after writing this review Bill Darling called me back for no reason other than to continue being disparaging and making blatantly sexist comments. It's shocking to me that someone who owns a business would conduct himself so unprofessionally. I see there is a review with the BBB describing a similar incident. If you are looking for drama-free quality work from decent, kind people you trust in your home, steer clear. read more

I was screwed over by another company that came in and did a lousy job. Bill Darling came in and saved the day!! I wish I would have hired them from the beginning! I will never have anyone other than Darling do work around my house. Each and every one of the workers that came were polite and clean and did amazing work!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND. The work is satisfactory , unprofessional in conducting business . Make sure to state what is expected to be done on job , don't take for granted it will be done all inclusive - Everything must be spelled out what is to be done ! This is not an all inclusive type of ordeal , you must know what needs to be done , all the extras OR you will be left on the ropes . What should be done by this company is tell you , if I do this this and this you will have to have this this and this done also - I do not mind in paying additional money for extras that need to be done , just not surprised after that it is done , not complete ! It is not like hiring your brother in law to do complete job . This is a la carte ! read more

The paint quote was competitive, not our lowest or highest and I felt as though the knowledge and other reviews warranted a chance. Overall, I am happy with the finished product . There are some places with some drips, or where the trim wasn't done perfectly with the wall paint covering up more than an obvious amount but it wasn't everywhere, and we're all human doing manual work that won't be perfect -- just way better than what I could have done! I had 1 or 2 miscommunications that we worked through and solved, so I'd just suggest that you make yourself available if you're going to undergo a job as I was a bit more distant from it due to travel - in the end it ended up lovely and I'm very happy with the colors and fixes they did with covering & patching along with the paint itself. Even the cabinets turned out wonderfully along with the walls & trim I had painted by them. They did a decent clean up job and seemed respectful to the property. read more

I had 4 rooms in my house painted using Darling Paint Co. From the start to the finish everything was excellent. In fact it exceeded my expectations. The two painters that were here, Victor and Kevin, we're outstanding in every way. They were very neat and fastidious while painting and I was so pleased with that. This company was responsible for painting shutters on my home about a year ago. After less than a year, the shutters are bubbling severly and I'm pretty sure the next step will be peeling. I contacted them and "the boss", without even coming to see the problem, said it's not his company's fault. He first said it must be bubbling do to me power-washing the house, which is a comical explanation (and I never power-washed my house mind you). Then he changed his mind and said the shutters shouldn't have even been painted in the first place. He explained that shutters like that aren't meant to be painted (which I confirmed with other painting companies is completely false). So to sum up, I called Darling to report a problem with their work. Instead of standing by their work, they decided to blame the customer without even coming to inspect the problem. I've dealt with some sub-par companies before, but this sets a new bar. I guess the customer is always wrong in their book. And this is how they do business - check out their response! This paint company is completely unprofessional and rude. Their communication skills are horrid and I would never use them for a project. We are tenants in a building that is currently being painted by this company. We had to vacate our apartment with no notice because of possible lead in the paint they were removing. In prior conversations with the company, our land lord was told we would not need to leave during the job, but the day they arrived to start working they told him we had to leave. And they refused to wait for us to leave the apartment to begin chipping paint. They were smoking on the property, near our two little children. The foreman yelled at me on two different occasions. He also banged repeatedly on the window a/c unit in our apartment, as well as using it to rest his can of paint and to lean on with his weight. The owner refuses to take my complaints seriously, claiming his workers would never be disrespectful. If you can avoid this company, do so at all costs. They are completely unprofessional. read more

Ceilings look like paint was "sloshed" on, woodwork not sanded, but just painted over, paint drips in many areas on walls and woodwork, some areas "missed" and not painted. Sloppy and no satisfaction on why cracks were not addressed and fixed. My house was old, I was told. Would never recommend this company. Very expensive prices for very poor workmanship. read more

I was initially impressed with Darling's responsiveness in getting the job scheduled and done in a very timely manner. Unfortunately I was not able to be present for the work and had to trust them to do the job properly on their own. This turned out to be a mistake on my part. Upon inspection there were portions of the house that were not painted and needed considerable touch up and scraping. They were responsive in getting back out to fix the problems, but added a few unprofessional excuses in the meantime. After further inspection about a month and a half later I noticed there were shutters that were not properly reinstalled (wrong size on wrong windows) and some peeling was taking place on the shutters and at the tops of some of the clapboard. After talking with the company again the conversation turned south and became hostile. Despite their responsiveness, customer service skills and professionalism were very poor. On top of that, the workmanship did not meet professional standards and required a couple follow up visits to fix the issues. Needless to say, I would not recommend using this company for your exterior painting projects. read more
