You can tell there is no competition in belleville now. The food was dried out and cold and this was at 5:30 so, fairly busy. This place seams to be going down the same path as the north one. Word of advice take the trip to Kingston or Oshawa for a couple dollars extra and get a good meal. read more

I called to order Chinese takeout on July the 4th 2024. I was unaware of what some of the items on the menu were, so I asked the individual on the phone to explain what chicken low mien meant. This did not mean I wanted to order it, I just wanted an explanation. On the phone he asked me if I wanted it and kept asking me for more items I said no can you explain it please. The entire phone call was only 2.5 minutes long. I proceeded to start ordering and I had one more question about a dish, where the person on the other side proceeded to say " Oh my god idiot" under his breath and a harsh annoyed tone. I was thinking to myself you're on the phone so I hear you, so I called him out on it and said "oh my god what?". He says, "ohh sorry sorry idiot". I proceeded to say, "you're not sorry, you were saying oh my god because I asked you to explain something and you're impatient and didn't want to, and that was rude to do over the phone." He then tried to tell me it was because they were busy, and that he was the only one there. I told him that this was not my fault, and that from my experience of going into the restaurant there's usually more than one person working in the Chinese buffet. I explained that as a paying customer I shouldn't have to put up with this rudeness and where you want my business over the phone instead of being rude. So I told him I he should be happy he even has my business, but I Instead of an apology I was granted with an "ok that's all you want, followed by the price of the meal". I told him I am going to tell others about this experience because they were very, very rude on the phone. I am a teacher has traveled to China to teach from 2015-2018, I have a heart for people with exceptionalities, differences, everything and this person made me feel like I was the smallest most insignificant person on this planet. I am not one to write reviews but never in my life have I encountered such a demeaning person. I told my delivery driver about this experience when my food was delivered. The driver proceeded to tell me that the same individual laughs at them in the restaurant. What kind of a business owner laughs at the drivers and their customers. I asked this person if it was busy, and if he was the only if he was the only one working, they said it was not busy and there was a ton of people working that night. So whoever you are at China Buffet, You're rude, inconsiderate, ignorant, selfish and you know who I am because I called you out on the phone. I was pleasantly surprised by the more than passable quality of the food at the buffet here. There's a few standards I tend to judge a small town or suburban chinese food place by: egg rolls, hot and sour soup, Singapore noodles among them. In each case, they would pass as perfectly respectable - and here they were remarkable, given that they were part of a buffet consisting of three long steam tables. There were a few past-their-prime dishes to be avoided, but over all, things were just fine. If they weren't charging a top-dollar price, I would add a star and give Buffet Garden a recommendation. But $29 a head before tip is a big premium to pay for a bit above average Canadian-style chinese fare. read more

Went in to order takeout, was told price was $36.05. Told cashier I was paying cash and asked for the 10% cash/pickup discount. Denied. I was told that they are bringing out new menus and that the new menus would not have the discount anymore therefore I cannot get it now. Service slow. Food okay but I guess truth in advertising means my dollars will now be spent somewhere else :( Update... Got home and the menu advertising 10% off was placed inside the takeout bag. Lol read more

My first experience with Buffet Garden was a takeout order on New Year's Eve 2021. I placed my order at the restaurant @ 2:21pm & waited for order to be completed. Once home I found the an order of chicken balls wasn't included.(I got the sweet/sour sauce though. I called and spoke with Anita and a notation was attached to my phone number so order could be fulfilled on next visit. No problem... busy day for them. I placed an order again today at 2:01pm and mentioned the missing item from December 31st. Item was noted on my phone number and was noted on my bill. I waited the 20 mins for order, got home and again no chicken balls. I called and was told item will be added to next order( like there will be a next order). I drove the 21km one way to pick up the missing item. I get "so sorry " at the front counter. So Sorry doesn't cut it. No attempt was made to rectified my displeasure. I will not order from them again and will advise my friends and family not to order or visit. Such poor service and very disappointing. read more

I was here last night, it was the worst food ever, I had to spit the food out on my plate. I tried speaking with a gentleman their that approach us speaking English quite well, but as soon as I asked if the crab was real, because they say it's Crab and even had a claw sticking out of it, all the sudden the gentleman couldn't speak English, I even asked another lady that worked their and she just laughed and laughed, why I will never know. why would they treat us like that, so disrespectful on so many levels. Sadly, I have to start off by saying that, at the very end of my meal, I found a hair in my food. A few hairnets for kitchen staff might be a good investment. No rubber gloves were in sight either at the sushi counter, not surprising. Since I did have the full meal before being grossed out, I will comment on it. The sushi and sashimi were varied and excellent, though the fish was a little watery from being recently thawed. The salad bar was not large but there was a good selection. The peel and eat shrimp however could not be peeled, the shell stuck like glue. Of course they weren't deveined either, which doesn't appeal to me since that black vein is the shrimp's digestive track and I don't want to eat that. Hot items ranged from good to inedible (the ribs could not be chewed or cut through with a knife, and some of the items were heavily breaded). A more skilled chef might be able to make these cheap meats more edible. Staff seemed to be mostly bored and did as little as possible to get by, which might explain why many of the food items were mislabelled. A hazard to anyone who has food allergies, not to mention confusing to someone who likes to know what she is eating. What was clearly shrimps was labelled pork, etc. Totally off the wall. Anyway, due to the hair thing grossing me out, I am unlikely to visit this joint again. Even the North China Buffet, which is pretty bad, may be better than this. read more

One of many Chinese style buffets here in Belleville, On, food is usually cold upon arrival (home delivery) always takes over two hours again (home delivery) In restaurant: buffet is cold mostly chilly if you plan on sitting in, business phones are rarely answered another downfall, but! When food is hot an finally get to your mouth it does make up for any trials you've had to endure to get it! So with all this said ill leave it with a solid three stars. read more

If I could would give 3.5 as other reviews had it as a 2 but we still tried it. It was better than average Chinese buffets in the surrounding towns that we have been too. Food was ok and more variety than most places. Staff were like a bunch of zombies moving around and don't think I saw any of them smile. My wife is from Hong Kong so we tend to visit lots of Chinese Restaurants. As it was Chinese New Years Eve we tried to make a reservation at the Mandarin in Oshawa as it is an hours drive but they gave us the run around so we head East and hour and tried somewhere new. read more

I was pleasantly surprised! Today was my first visit, and from the outside it doesn't look like its going to be that great.. But the inside is beautiful, apparently it was recently renovated! The food, which is a buffet was fantastic! Lots of food and a lot of choices. The sushi was great, which is rare for around Quinte. Highly recommend this place.. Though it really gets busy around noon. I arrive around 11:15, and it was great.. No line ups, and the food had just been made! read more

The only thing that has saved this review from getting 1 star is that the food was nice and fresh. Judging from past reviews, maybe we lucked out on a good food day? The service was horrible. The girl seated us, got our order for drinks (tea and water) and they were waiting for us when we got back with our food. That was the only time we have had any contact with any employee. No one checked on our drinks, no one came to see if we needed any napkins. Come on people- its a buffet with a number of finger foods! We need more than one napkin. No body came to collect our empty plates and there were two girls cleaning one table- obviously not a busy night. We got up to pay, and we had to show them where we sat and what we ate in order to get our bill. Customer service is NOT that hard! (And yes, I work in customer service). We told our server, and the person at the counter and they acted like they've either heard this before or they didn't care. Come here as a last resort. And just to add on. We have ordered take-out from here more than once and often do not get what we ordered. This last time our order was off by 20.00 in that we were missing 20.00 worth of food that we had already paid for. We had to call back 3 times in order to get anyone to come and give us what we paid for. The first time the gentleman who answered the phone (did not speak great english) just said, okay, I'll look into it.... An hour later after we had finished eating we called back (same man answered the phone) and he acted suprised that we still were requesting our food that we ordered. At first he said he'd credit us what we ordered and "record it in the computer". We said no, we would like our food or a refund. Finally, he agreed to send someone out with the food that we ordered and of his own volition, offered to credit us back the cost of the missing food. An hour passed still no driver or delivery. We called a third time and the same man, exasperated told us he was sending someone right now. Finally we received the food. This is not the first time this has happened. The food is okay, but not good enough to risk being screwed every time you order from them. Time to move on. Never again. read more

We used to go once every 2 weeks or so, the last 4 or more times we have been there we have left hungry as the food was so rubbery and watery it was completely inedible, and the service was so terrible. Horrible!! Ordered delivery and there were black long hairs in 2 of the 3 dishes we ordered. In order to get a refund we had to drive back to the restaurant (they said they cant refund credit cards at all) They said we had to pack all the food off our plates back into the containers and return it in order to get the refund. (wouldnt be surprised if they just dumped the food into the buffet!!) When we got there they magically could refund credit cards. Been here a few times now and for a buffet the food has always been on the better side of good. It beats anything I've had in Toronto on a price to quality ratio. The wait staff could be a little friendlier (language or cultural problem,maybe?) but are very compitant. read more

This is probably the worst dining experience I have had at this restaurant. The staff was rude, the food was over cooked and the deserts looked like they have been sitting under a hot heat lamp for several hours they where dried out, as well as for the cream puffs it looked like they where prepackaged and they had a slimy texture to the cream. The brownies looked like they where prepackaged and smooshed in transit and they had and off smell and taste almost like the ones you can pick up from the dollar store for $1.50. The tables where not cleaned off in a timely manner, the wait staff spilled water on the table and never even bothered to clean up the mess. As for the manager when I tried to complain and express my dissatisfaction with the service that we received she wouldn't even give us the time of day and walked off muttering under her breath in Chinese. I would not recommend this place to anyone if you would like a satisfactory dining experience. read more

Went there last night and like a few times there the food was not hot and was sitting for a while and this was at 6:00pm dinner time. They didn't even replace any of the cold food and the staff just sort of stood around and didn't even pick up my plates when I went to get more food we had to pile them up before the ditzy staff saw them. I felt that I wasted my money going there I paid over $30 for cold food and lousy service, not to mention the web site doesn't even work. Will probably never eat there again. read more
