if there was an unlimited star this place would have it. Starting with decor it's an All -American stop it honors the those who serve us Military, Police and Fire the ones who keep up safe. It's not big is but filled with small town charm the staff is outstanding the food came out quickly. I went for the Breaded Pork Tenderloin which they are famous for just look at the picture and you will see why Hand pounded and Breaded juicy and full of flavor. The hubby got a burger which came out perfect.

First time for me at Buford's Pub, my family had each been there before. My mom and I were greeted by a very friendly waitress and the bar dog. The bar was full, but she would get us a table as soon as she could. So we waited at the bar. We were still waiting for two others and not in a hurry. While waiting, we saw wonderful looking cheeseburgers going out to tables. It is a great bar with several tables and very friendly people. I and my mom ordered the breaded pork tenderloin- it was not only gigantic but delicious! My SIL ordered the half order of chicken nachos- it was huge! We were all surprised about the nachos. My brother ordered the Philly cheesesteak and it looked delicious. We sat and ate our lunch and had a great time! I will be back to try the cheeseburgers!

Great pork tenderloin! Sides were very good. Everything was freshly made. All the food looked great. The service was outstanding. Very nice people who asked many times if we needed anything. It's a typical bar/restaurant. Very family friendly. We plan on returning again.

We normally don't do many reviews unless it was exceptional. Today we drove 2 hours to Bufords, and what a gem this turned out to be. Small town, only a couple things around...but this is the place to be. We ordered drinks, my wife hose the Bloody Mary, she was very happy she did. I had Flight in an ice cold mug...great start. We ordered the breaded tenderloin and a half order of nachos. Soon the wheelbarrow brought out the orders. Huge is an understatement and tasty, another massive understatement. Altho it was a Sunday afternoon there was live music in the beer garden which is completely covered and seats many patrons. The price was very fair considering the massive amount of food and the great taste. If you are looking for a great little out of the way place for awesome food this is your place. We will be doing the 2 hour ride again...the menu is outstanding and we may try other things but...maybe not. Pretty stuck on what we got. 10 service and 10 food.

We went as a family to Bufords tonight because we have been wanting to see what all the hype has been about. We did not leave disappointed. The jumbo tenderloin is delicious. It was cooked perfectly and will make a couple more meals! The kids meals were reasonably priced and were more than enough food for our 7 and 9 year old. My husband got a burger with bacon and barbeque sauce on it and it was so good. The bacon was great quality and cooked well and the sauce had a great flavor. The people were very friendly, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the pub dog is adorable. We can't wait to go back and try out some more items from the menu!

The ambience is a mixture of a French restaurant meeting an Italian restaurant somehow looking like an American Diner with a menu that had a little of everything. Our server was very attentive even though the restaurant was full and she seemed to be the only server. She was delightful and gave us good recommendations. My coworker ordered a Caprese Panini and a Caesar salad. Obviously this wasn't my recommendation if you've read any of my other reviews! She said it was a great sandwich but wasn't a fan of the homemade chips. I was impressed that she didn't give me the stink eye when I explained my need to photograph her food :) I had the lunch portion of chicken parmesean that was really good. Nice portion of chicken and pasta and a great flavor - I would definitely order it again. Oddly, this came with a side of my choice just like the sandwich menu. I chose a side of fries and they were ok fries. Nothing Earth shattering but not bad. It's a great lunch option at a reasonable price and I'd return if I found myself in the area. Where else can I get a burger, a tenderloin, an order of onion rings and a fettuccine Alfredo all from the same place!?

The location is a little unusual, being part of an old mall turned into an artsy shopping hub. There is a door outside of the mall to access the restaurant directly. Two notable dishes from our visit were the breakfast quesadilla (soooo good!) and the biscuits with mushroom gravy. The service was slow, however, it was a Sunday. We loved the place so much we booked a reservation for our next visit down to see our son at U of I. The restaurant also has a coffee bar where you can get special coffee drinks, and some random handheld foods. The seating area is eclectic and inviting. The menu looked delicious but I choose the Ruben based on the servers rec. it was great. The corned beef was tasty, the cheese was the perfect amount. Nicely warmed on a seedless marbled rye. The salad was so fresh with an incredible greed goddess dressing that is house made. The restaurant has a cozy cafe feel. I do feel it's a bit pricey for a college town. I know if I were a student that I couldn't afford over $20 plus gratuity for a sandwich, side salad and soda. I know, it's fresh and homemade and the economy has changed but I'm just stating the facts.

We were taken to a booth and the seats and table were wet from the quick wipe it had just been given. It wasn't just wet, there were also lots of crumbs that had been left behind. As I looked around, I noticed that the floors were littered with trash and food also. Straw wrappers, napkins and bits of food were present under each and every table. I understand that during a busy rush, the staff probably can't take the time to sweep, but even after the rush nobody bothered to address it. There was a gentleman bussing tables who stayed "on patrol", though. He circled the dining room at regular intervals and made sure that dishes were cleared in a timely manner. I see you, sir! We were greeted right away and our drink orders were taken. That young lady was very kind and upbeat, which was quite welcoming. When she returned with our beverages, she offered to take our orders, but we weren't ready. And just like that, she ditched us! J/K, but kind of for real. A different waitress appeared and took over from there. She was efficient and took good care of us, but in a way, she wasn't as warm. She was no-nonsense and straight to the point. Our food was decent. My husband had The Special, which is a basic breakfast plate (eggs, French toast and bacon), I had the turkey club with fries, and my in-laws both had phily steak sandwiches with fries. The food didn't come out super fast, but that gave us time to settle-in and not feel rushed. It was quite nice and a change from what my husband and I are accustomed to where we live. We had a leisurely meal and caught up with old friends who wandered in and out during our meal. That was another clear sign that this place is a local favorite.

Over the last 15 years or more I've been to this establishment maybe 4-5 times; each time I go, I…read moreremember why it's been years since my last visit and I tell myself it wasn't worth it to return when there are so many other options available. This place is incredibly expensive for what you get with regard to the food and the service (or essentially lack thereof). At this time, full simple sandwiches are $12-14 with no sides included (think typical ham and turkey with cheese, tomato, and lettuce with mayo on it that you can make at home), and soups are nearly $8 for a cup and $9 for a bowl. The sandwiches (and "Mexican" fare) have fresh ingredients, but are very mediocre and bland tasting given their simplicity--not remotely worth that price. The high pricing isn't to cover wait staff/cleaning staff or maintaining the facility itself. Orders are taken at the counter and you await to hear your name called to get your food yourself, then rid of all your waste yourself before leaving. The entire dining room was dirty with crumbs on all tables, chairs, and the floor. The trash was full, and the bathroom toilet and urinal both had unflushed waste in them. The place was not busy as it was later afternoon; there were plenty of staff available to keep an eye on the dining room to ensure, at the very least, that the tables and chairs were clean and the trash wasn't full. The building itself is old with a lot(!) of unfinished and inaccessible areas, basic/old tables with cheap "decor". So for over $52 today my spouse and I had two very basic sandwiches, two bowls of semi-warm soup, and two large drinks in a dirty basic dining room after ordering and retrieving the food ourselves. With that price, you'd think the place would be minutely updated and certainly should be cleaner, there would be wait staff, and the food would have much more flavor with much more to it. There are several other places in Monticello to get great tasting food with included sides, cleaner facilities and wait staff, all for less than the price of a basic sandwich that you get here. I love to support small businesses and the staff were certainly friendly so I feel a bit guilty for this review, but this needs to be said about this incredibly overhyped place. This time I won't forget why I infrequent this establishment and won't be back.

First off, there is a bit of a wait for your order, but trust me, it's worth it. We were there at a prime Saturday lunch hour and the wait was a bit long but I have to tell you, these are REAL 'sandwich artists' that work for this great little place, and they take great care with your order. Plenty of sides to choose from, drinks and homemade pie for dessert, too! I do not order Tuna Salad out bcz I'm always disappointed but I took a chance here at the BBD, and wow did I enjoy my meal. White bread, Tuna Salad, onion and pickle...SO DELICIOUS!!! I was very full after eating the sandwich too. Hubs had the Dagwood Special and totally enjoyed it.
