I was adamant about purchasing quality signs after recently switching companies. I had really liked the sign posts my previous company used from Build A Sign, they were good quality and had a great steel stake. When ordering their description still shows the same steel stakes from my old signs, however they show up and are Aluminum! Who the hell thought to make a stake that get beat into the ground Aluminum! On top of that, I've been trying to get a refund for several weeks. These aren't even out of the box and they want me to pay for shipping them back and to eat 20% on the entire order! Best Print Buy has fantastic Steel stakes that will last, their post is quality and the overall look is nearly the same. I'm so upset. The first order I placed was my error. I wanted grommets and holes for a For Sale Sign. Then at the last moment, I ordered a stake not knowing it cancelled the grommets out. So I called and realized the mistake was mine and placed a new order correcting the issue. I also repaid for the second order. It was my error. The next day, I get an email from them saying, "we noticed your first order for this custom sign was with no holes or grommets-so we corrected the second order to match. So after being on hold for almost a 1/2 hour with customer service they say they can fix it but they have to charge my credit card again. Really??? That order hasn't left the building. Been doing business with this company for many years. There web site describing their discounts, & their free shipping are misleading and vague. The do not make clear the exceptions to free shipping. In fine print at the very bottom of the page is listed their exclutions to giving free shipment. (Which is a large portion of the items they sell) Their declaration of free shipping available is in big bold print and in banner form so you get sucked in to starting an order on the home landing page. No where in the process of designing your sign does it flag you that what you are working on designing and ordering will not qualify for the free shipping until you get to the check out page. I very carefully ordered sandwich board signs, which are tent-like signs that stand on the sidewalk. I received something completely different: single-sided corrugated plastic 36"x24" signs. NOT sandwich board. When I called customer service, the representative asked if I was calling about the sandwich board signs, then proceeded to tell me that that's NOT what I ordered. I asked to speak with a supervisor because I was very careful in ordering this, using school district funds, which I an not careless in using. Thisa request was followed by a 15-minute wait on hold. Over the years, Build A Sign has been fine. However, recently, their customer service and the quality of the work has been terrible. My most recent signs were not centered. They claim it's my art, but even the survey they sent me later shows centered art work. Trying to work with customer service to get a solution is incredible. I was recently on hold behind 60 -- count 'em 60 -- customers. How do I know? I went on the online chat and asked. It's literally hours on hold. Completely dropped the ball on that order. There are so many sign companies to choose from it's hard to know which one to choose. So I told the one that offered 24-hour service which was buildasign or signs on the cheap. I guess they operate under a couple different names to delete the bad reviews are getting. After not getting a tracking number for my signs three or four days later I had to be the one to call. Since they advertise a 24-hour turnaround you would think that they would call me if there's a problem right? Nope. I called it was going to get a refund but they said would refund your shipping let us get these signs out to you to see if you like them. I said okay if you can get them out so I can try it for next weekend that's fine but at least refund shipping and they agreed. I got the signs but no refund I called and sent emails and no response. The first time I ordered they were decent. The second time not as great--the edges of the material were obviously cut uneven, so that parts of other banners showed at the top or bottom of my banners. This third time, though, they were pretty awful. The print quality hadn't changed, but the grommets were WAY off. I don't just mean they weren't symmetrical with each other, I mean they were so far off in each corner that some of them were sticking out from the edges of the banners so that they were only half attached (while the opposite corner would be too far in.) Not only does that look sloppy, but it will hang crooked. read more

My product was shipped to the wrong address, sent back to UPS, I went to UPS to pick up the order and they will not release it because of the address discrepancy. I was hung up on twice by a Build a Sign call center agent then after 15 minutes on hold was offered $90.00 for the "inconvenience" and told they couldn't do anything else. So now my company is out $500.00, was offered no sort of resolution (let it be noted, I did not ask to be refunded) I just wanted the signs we ordered. Now I have to make sure no one else makes the mistake of working with an unethical company. I took the liberty of finding emails for the CEO, CFO, and several top tier employees. I received the sign only to find out I had no way to support and stick it in the ground. I called to find out their stake for this particular was discontinued. The customer service rep did rise to the occasion and ordered me a new sign with the stake. The sign came in just three days later. (Meanwhile we rigged some wood stakes to hold the first sign that we got). His actions are commendable and I will order again. Ordered a pull-up sign and when it arrived, it didn't work. The spring mechanism which pulls it back into the base was broken. They agreed to send a new sign and we finally received it. Ok this review is for the business Easy Canvas Prints. I found a slightly different business address than the one above, BUT I believe them to be closely related. At the bottom of ECP's website it says " 2009 - 2012 Easy Canvas Prints A BuildASign.com Company" so I have decided to review ECP here since I can't find a separate listing for them on Yelp. Anyway, here is my story. I purchased a deal to get a canvas print on a daily deal website type thing (not sure which one right now) & ordered my print. I looked at the "finished product" on the screen & it looked perfect. However when I received it, they had arbitrarily removed the white border that I had added to my picture on purpose because it needed to fit into a square frame with an oval opening. Rare I know, and likely more difficult than their average request, but I took that all into consideration before writing my review I assure you. I called them up & they were happy to re-do it if I re-submitted the order & paid for shipping. I did this online & called them again to make sure they would keep the white boarder this time. I resubmitted the order with a smaller canvas size this time which caught them off-guard, but they said they could accommodate my requests. Having seen how they accommodated my requests the 1st time I expressed concern that the subject would ACTUALLY fit in the oval opening of my frame on the final product. They sent me 2 proofs to make sure we got the order right. I'm sounding like a nightmare client I know, but they offered & even requested I take pictures of my frame & send them to ECP. I did this along with the oval's measurements (also requested). The second proof actually HAD the oval RIGHT on the proof so I could see EXACTLY how it was going to look in the opening. Very nice of them to do this extra work & attempt to help me, BUT... I don't know about anyone else, but I have sized down pictures in a few photo programs in my lifetime & found it to be VERY easy, but ECP said there is a LOT to scaling & would have to have the art dept. work on it & get me that second proof previously mentioned. Like 2 weeks later I inquired as to the status of getting that proof because I hadn't heard anything from anyone. The proof was perfect & my picture's subject fit perfectly withing the frame's perimeters. When I got the 2nd final print, not only was the subject not within the oval they also re-printed it on the larger size canvas! I am going to work with it I suppose, but does anyone else think that it would have just been easier if they TOLD me @ some point that they could NOT accommodate the smaller canvas request? I would have said "ok no problem, I'll submit the picture again & just have the art department NOT remove the white boarders this time" END OF STORY. They could have saved ME & THEMSELVES A LOT of headache if they just would have said that. I am not going to request another re-print because I strongly believe they honestly don't have the capabilities to accommodate any order that is not an EASY/straight-forward, run of the mill canvas print. Maybe THAT'S why it is called EASY Canvas Prints!!! Because they can only PRINT easy canvas prints. So if you have an easy order, by all means, try them. I actually like both of my prints, they're just not what I was "told" I was getting. read more

I found BuildASign.com through a promotion where they were printing free homecoming banners or cards for soldiers when you went to http://www.buildasign.com/troops. My husband is currently on his 3rd deployment and is coming home in a matter of weeks! So, in preparation for his last deployment (at least for a few years), I wanted to make his homecoming big! Usually, I'd order a banner and hang a few balloons, but this year, I got several banners 6' banners and will be decorating like crazy inside and out. As I mentioned, I found this website through their free banner promotion. Usually, they're around $70 or so, but with this promotion, you can get the 3'x'6' banner, which is full color, for free! It's $10 to add grommets (highly recommended) and any additional banner you purchase would be $10. Shipping price is pretty high and the production time is 8 weeks, so if you need it faster, you'll have to pay more. When I entered my order online, the website timed out so I was not sure if the order went through or not so I called. I was surprised to learn that the company was actually in Austin! I explained my situation and they upgraded me to 2 week shipping. Well, within a week I had my banners and they came out GREAT! In the end, I did pay $60 for them, but the quality is excellent and full color. I even made one which included a picture of my husband (yes, I went there) and the colors are bright. I would 100% recommend ordering from them--especially if you or someone you know is returning home from a deployment. It's a great way to show your support! read more

The image on the sign I received was completely distorted, the colors throughout the rest of the sign weren't solid, and there were a ton of small black circles that covered the entire sign and made the text look muddy and unclear. After contacting customer service it took three weeks for them to review the photos. They blamed it on the image file and said they could only offer a partial refund. Even though I ordered another sign using the same exact image file and it printed out just fine. They also refused to acknowledge any of the other issues with the sign.
