My child has attended Building Kidz San Jose since she was 6 months old, and she's now 5 years old. It's hard to put into words how grateful I am for this school and the incredible people who make it what it is. From day one, she has been loved, nurtured, and truly cared for. The teachers, director, and staff are wonderful. They are kind, patient, attentive, and genuinely invested in each child. The classrooms are always clean, spacious, and welcoming, and the overall environment feels warm and positive. The curriculum is excellent and well rounded, and I love that the kids get so many enrichment opportunities. They bring in music, dance, and theater teachers, and the children even get to participate in two musical productions each year, which is such a special experience. The school also hosts thoughtful seasonal and holiday events that make the community feel connected and fun. A special shout-out to Ms. Trini, the school chef and flower keeper. She is an absolute gem and brings so much heart into everything she does. I truly believe my child has become the intelligent, kind, and funny little person she is today in large part because of this school. Our kid has been going BK SJ for 2 years and we love the school, teachers, curriculum and the events. The school administration is active and super communicative. There are so many wonderful things to say about this school that it's hard to know where to start! Both my kids have attended; my oldest did a year in Dolphins (the 4's class) and my youngest started in Starfish (the 2's class) and is now currently in Dolphins. My kids have both thrived here and loved every day. They have formed amazing, deep friendships with the kids in their classes. They love and trust the teachers. They have learned a lot academically; my son was extremely prepared for public school. I especially appreciate the emphasis on performing arts and the regular dance/music/theater classes that are part of the curriculum. It's so much fun to watch the biannual shows that the school puts on. I also love the exposure my kids get to various celebrations from cultures all over the world; the school celebrates things like Holi, Dia de los Muertos, Diwali, Chinese New Year, etc. The school feels like a community and there are regular holiday parties held at the school for Halloween, Christmas, Mother's/Father's Day, etc. Ms. Manali does an amazing job with these special events. The summer is also another fun unique time where there is water play and exciting weekly themes with special guests (like magicians and reptile handlers). I absolutely love this school. My child loves all the fun events the school has throughout the year . Ms Manali and the staff are proffesional, kind, very good at communicating and making sure children are safe. Building Kidz is a fantastic school. Our daughter has been enrolled here for over 2 years now and we has seen tremendous growth and improvement in her skills. She is way more social now and enjoys doing the many activities which the school offers. The school is providing ample opportunities for students to not only excel at academics but also have an overall growth and development in arts and crafts, music and dance. What a gem this school is, our daughter has attended the Pollywogs (2s) class here since she turned 2 and we are so sad that we're relocating down the state - we wish we could bring Building Kidz along with us! The curriculum has provided a lot of structure for my daughter and such a young age- after less than a year here she's better at washing her hands, letters and numbers, and speaking in full sentences. I loved the app feature for daily updates and communication. Everyone knew my daughters name which I totally appreciated. Very rude staff. I called last week to ask if they had availability and was told yes. I asked about tuition and the woman on the phone told me I needed to take a tour of the school before talking about pricing. I wanted to see if it was possible to hear about tuition instead of taking a tour, so I wouldn't be wasting anyone's time. Her tone was extremely rude and she kept repeating herself about "the tour". We really love this school. and we send both our kids here. They have the most amazing teachers. We have had experience interacting with teachers from Dolphins, Octopus, and Kinder and Pollywogs classes. Each and every one of them genuinely cares about the children, is very friendly and approachable. They focus on overall development and not just about worksheets. Our kids have shown tremendous improvement in science, math, art and social development. Our younger one really loves theatre classes, and our older one loves reading and science. The teachers also take care in tailoring the homework to the student needs. There is also a great diversity! The school also organizes fun activities like regular water play (during summers), Halloween costume parades, petting zoo, mother's day, father's day events, parents talking about their work etc. A big thanks to Ms. Manali and all the teachers for providing such a happy experience for our kids. BKSJ is a gem of a preschool! In the 7 months that our 4-year-old has attended the school, we've been blown away by his all-around progress. We're particularly impressed by the academic foundation - though on the younger side, our son is already at a kindergarten level thanks to the curriculum. The kids do a fun variety of projects in the classroom, and the teachers do a great job communicating from week to week as to what the kids are learning. The school also does a nice job of building community - they had a sweet Mother's Day celebration in May and are hosting an end of year carnival following graduation and the summer show. I am so glad we found this school. We had moved from Fremont and had to look for a new school for my 3.5 year old. With a short time on hand, and amidst so many changes we were going through with the relocation, I was relieved to have signed up with BKSJ for my little one. It met all our requirements with not just focus on learning, but having an overall development for kids which included a lot of fun activities and celebrating various special days and events. Ms. Manali was very nice to help us with the tour and all the admission formalities, herself. My connection to the campus began 10 years ago when it was owned by another company. Three of my nieces attended the preschool and I knew that if I ever had a child then that's where I would want them to go. Well I had a daughter 4 years ago now and nearly 2 years ago I contacted the school to setup a tour. I had so many questions and I was so excited for my daughter to start her preschool journey. My boyfriend and I met with Ms. Kanika who is the director of school and when we met she informed us that the school had been sold and purchased by Building Kidz. I distinctly remember feeling a little deflated that my daughter wouldn't attend the same school as her cousins but I decided to move forward with the tour anyway. My daughter REALLY wanted to go to school. So as we spoke with Ms. Kanika about their mission and passion for the school, it didn't take us long to realize that THIS was the right place for our daughter. During our tour I was observing the kids in their classes, the kids on the playground, along with the teachers and how they interacted with them. I was so touched to see how genuinely happy everyone was. And Ms. Kanika amazed me by knowing every child's name! As we were wrapping up our visit we got to meet one of the new owners who was so incredibly nice and easy to chat with. From that moment forward our decision to send our daughter to Building Kidz was cemented. We couldn't wait to setup her first day of school. Sadly COVID-19 struck and put everything on hold. My heart was crushed for my daughter who simply didn't understand why she couldn't go to school. After a few months of being on lockdown, Building Kidz finally had a spot for her to attend. My boyfriend and I had those typical first time parent nerves about leaving her somewhere new even though we were bursting at the seams with excitement. Our daughter couldn't wait to meet her new friends. Like a big girl, she was greeted by Ms. Carmen who runs the 2 year old class, and went right into her new classroom. She never tried to stay with us, wasn't scared or shy, or cried! I couldn't have been more proud of her. I was the one who cried happy tears as I walked back to our car. Within one year she has moved up 2 more classes. She loves going to school so much that I'm certain she'd make a great mascot. My daughter attended here March 21-December21. I've hesitated writing this review but I feel it's important to put it out there. She started out in "Octopus" (3-4's) with Mrs. Aarthi who was absolutely fabulous. Every day that I picked her up from school at noon, she would make a point to spend a few minutes with me and update me on my daughters progress. If I had any issues with her learning or behavior, she would always partner with me in addressing anything with my daughter. She was wonderful. My daughter then moved to "Dolphins" class (4's) with Ms. Jordan & MS. Eowyn In September. They were nice people. However, they were both in their 1st years of teaching. A couple of months into her fall class, I sat with my daughter and her work and she barely knew all her alphabets and the sounds. At this point, she spent 7 months at Building Kidz and she can barely recall her alphabets, let alone write them down. I was worried at this point because she would be attending public school with her sisters the following year and my husband and I were worried that she would not be at a level where she would be successful in kindergarten. We spoke with the teachers and they tried to help. I feel like it's mostly play based and coloring although they will claim up and down it's not. We decided to pull her out and ended her in December and enrolled her into Challenger school. We gave a 28 day notice instead of 30. It states in the contract, VERY VAGUELY that it can be prorated, however, they took a FULL months payment from us even though she did not attend a single day for that month. It wasn't about the donated money, it's the principle. We even told friends and neighbors to join, which they did but still they didn't budge. It was lame. However, the most annoying thing about this situation is, when the school director (Manali) asked me over the phone where we are sending my daughter and I told her....her response to me was "I've seen ***** in class and I think that she will struggle at Challenger". That was an unprofessional & rude comment to make to a parent. After just 2 weeks of attending challenger, she knew all her ABC's, the sounds of them, how to write them AND started blending them to sound out the words. Now, after 7 months at Challenger, she is reading, doing kinder-1st grade math and much more. So much more that she's (5) at my 7 year old's 1st grade level with some subjects. So, Building Kids - Manali, you were absolutely wrong and let my middle finger do the talking to you now. If you want your kids to be successful in kindergarten, look elsewhere. The teachers are too inexperienced here. PS. Other parents who have their kids here are unhappy as well. read more

My daughter Sophia was in the preschool and pre-k (aka Kinder) class during her time here, and all I can say is SHE ABSOLUTELY THRIVED! We were enrolled from Feb '22-Sep '22, and only left because we relocated from the area. Within 6 weeks of her beginning at Building Kidz, my daughter went from struggling with letter recognition to being able to read, spell and write her first name entirely independently. Their staff is loving and amazing. They truly put significant time and effort into their program to enrich the children and prepare them for school. In comparison, the new preschool we recently moved my daughter to, children her same age were barely learning to recognize their names and write individual letters. The performance program is amazing for littles! My daughter always loved to sing and dance around the house, and the BK program harvested that love and turned it in to a talent where my daughter (I may be biased, but have proof!) stole the show at the EOY performance. It will be hard to replace the level of academic focus (for a pre-k), love and dedication the staff puts in to the kids. Thank you Building Kidz! We will miss you! read more

We moved to San Jose in June 2023 and enrolled our oldest (5 yo) and youngest (3 yo) in the summer school session. Right away, the teachers were welcoming, encouraging, and supportive. In August 2023, our oldest moved on to public school Kindergarten, and our youngest stayed with Building Kidz. She has been in the Starfish (Ms. Nicole) and now Octopus class (Ms. Drea and Ms. Brenda), but has interactions with all of the teachers (Ms. Cara, Ms. Jordan, Ms. Teresa, Ms. Eowyn, Ms. Liz and Mr. Nick). Every teacher I have encountered has been kind, supportive, and incredibly nurturing to our girl, especially when she needed it after moving and leaving her friends. I have been most concerned about her socio-emotional development, and I feel that this school has been amazing for our daughter's ability to regulate, communicate her feelings, and most importantly to feel cared for. She also has had considerable improvement in her language, fine motor skills, and early learning of how to read and write. The school itself is very organized and communicative, the teachers and Ms. Manali know all the kids, but they also know the parents and their names. They let us know what they are doing in class, upload pictures and videos to the app, and Ms. Brenda and Ms. Drea will let us know if something is off with how they were eating and/or acting that day. They also have routine parent teachers' conferences, where they go over development and what we specifically would need to focus on to help at home, which I have not encountered at other preschools with my oldest daughter. I also like that they bring in "Scientist Al" and have the performing arts component to the school. Ms. Manali is incredibly organized and responsive, especially around COVID concerns, which is notable since we've had experiences with other preschools where this has not been the case. We've also known at least 2 other families that have gone to this school at different times, and they have only had good things to say. I also LOVE the location of the school, since it's behind key in code gates and next to a really great playground. The classrooms look like classrooms (versus a house with rooms), and they have an organized schedule and structure that they follow every day. The price of preschool/daycare is a lot, but I found that Building Kidz is comparable, if not less, than most other schools I researched in the area. The biggest take away for me, and what I communicate to anyone that asks is that the teachers are really amazing, and it's made all the difference for our family. Our son was in the 2's class with Ms. Nicole, Ms. Teresa and Ms. Diana. We had a positive experience here. While he was already conversational, his vocabulary exploded in this class. He loved his teachers and they made him comfortable in the new environment. He was very hesitant to join some of the music and dance activities but the teachers helped him get over his anxieties. Our kid has been attending the infant program at Building Kidz for about 2 months now. As expected the first few days was a bit tough both for us as parents and our kid. But the teachers at Building Kidz were very accommodating and explained to us very patiently that it might take a few weeks for things to get to normal and what they would be doing to help. I like the Brightwheel app being used so that I can keep track of what my kid is doing w.r.t feeding and sleeping. It also makes it really easy for us to communicate with the teachers during the day. The wonderful pictures and videos posted sometimes on the app is a sweet bonus :) Coming to the classroom, I am extremely satisfied with the care provided by the teachers. They are very easy to work with and our kid (and us) have formed a special bond and trust with a few teachers in the classroom. They take very good care and make every effort to feed and put our baby to sleep even during fussy days. Circle time, book reading sessions and outdoor times are somethings that we really like. The conversations at the end of the day with the teachers show the genuine care and warmth for the kids in the classroom. Overall we are very satisfied with the daycare so far. We enrolled our daughter at Building Kidz (kinder class) when we moved to the Cambrian Park neighborhood of San Jose in fall 2022. We have LOVED everything about the school! I have no complaints or areas for improvement; the major highlights include: (1) the kinder teachers Mr. Nick and Ms. Cara are superstars - our daughter has learned so much from them, from science to reading and writing (they follow the Cambrian District kinder curriculum), emotional intelligence skills, social skills, and much more. (2) progress, concerns, and feedback is effectively shared as needed/requested, as well as at formal parent/teacher conferences. (3) The teachers take the kids to Houge Park adjacent to the school to play outdoors (it is a beautiful, big, shaded, clean park). (3) Ms. Manali is a great leader and effective communicator; she organizes fun events for the families (e.g., school performances, Halloween parade, Mother's Day party, etc) and visits from police officers, fire fighters, and others in the community for the children to learn from. 4) The curriculum includes regular theater/singing/dancing taught by performing arts professionals who visit the school - our daughter LOVES this aspect of the school and we have seen her confidence soar because of it). (5) Tuition is very reasonable based on the value the school provides. (6) The facilities are on a lovely shared property with a few other preschools - clean, secure, park setting. I'm hoping our newborn daughter can get into the infant room at Building Kidz (despite a commute as we get ready to move to Almaden Valley ... a commute for a spot at BK is worth it!) . For now, we will miss Building Kidz and the amazing teachers and friends we made here as our daughter moves on to elementary school In the fall. read more

We are extremely happy and satisfied that both our kids are enrolled at Building Kidz. We have seen our kids transition seamlessly from one class to the next. For our younger one, all the teachers in the infant class are extremely caring and very easy to talk to and explain the meal plan, daily routine etc. Every day during the morning drop-off he rushes into teachers arms and that shows how much he likes being in the infant class. The teachers have been helping us immensely in transitioning him from formula to purees to solid foods now. For our elder one, she has always been very happy to go to school. She really enjoyed the last academic year in Octopus class and Ms.Drea and Ms.Brenda have been her favorite teachers. She has known her current class teachers Ms.Liz and Ms.Cara for many years now so she absolutely loves them. She enjoys having funny talks with teachers, talking about her little brother and most importantly the cute braids that teachers do on her hair. My understanding is they have some of the most accommodating hours for families with full time working parent(s). My daughter has been enrolled in the Minnows (6 mo-2 yrs) class for 1.5 yrs and we are planning to send our second child there as well. She has learned so much there and always seems well taken care of and happy in their care. They do so many activities with her that I would never have the energy to do at home. I'm constantly impressed with the words and sign language and songs she knows that she learned at daycare. My only complaint is that they don't take children younger than 6 mo because it makes it challenging for maternity leaves that are shorter than that. read more

Our children were enrolled in the previous program at this location, and so going through the transition to Building Kidz we were very pleased to see that most of the teachers remained on staff here. For us the teachers are the most important aspect when selecting a daycare/preschool, and it's evident that the teachers here really do care for the kids and enjoy spending time with them. The new teachers that they have brought on in the past few months have all been great additions as well. Communication between parents and management has been transparent and we appreciate the regular newsletters and updates we receive from the management team. The staff has also continued to provide regular updates on our children throughout the day (including some great photos) which is really nice to have. We have also enjoyed some new benefits like classroom updates, a surprisingly fun and engaging performing arts curriculum, and classroom visits from parents with prominent community occupations (recycling, law enforcement, etc.). At the time of my writing this review, COVID-19 and its effects have understandably added complexity to the daily routine. But the teachers and staff have responded professionally to the circumstances, and we appreciate that they have been proactive in working with local officials and families on protocols and policies to ensure that our children have a safe space to enjoy every day. At the end of the day, all three of our children look forward to coming to Building Kidz in the morning. We feel confident that they are being cared for, educated, and encouraged to grow. And we would certainly recommend this program to other local families who are looking for the same. read more

We have been a part of the Building Kidz family since they started at this location. Our children were part of the previous program and we have continued to be impressed with transition to Building Kidz and the community it has formed. Our oldest child will be moving on to Kinder next year and I know that thanks to Building Kidz she is more then ready. She comes home every day happy, dirty (as every 5 year old should be after a fun day), and ready to tell us about everything she is learning. The past year has been one of the hardest and the teachers and administration did everything they could to make it as normal as possible despite all the COVID protocols. We are so thankful to have found a school that has prioritized and cherished our children in the way only a great teacher can. We are lucky that we will continue to be a part of the Building Kidz family since our 2 year old still has a few more years there. The 2 year old class room has been amazing, they helped with potty training and independence. He loves to count and color and will eagerly point out every number and letter he recognizes. This week during the preschool graduation it was clear that everyone cares and loves the students as there wasn't a dry eye from the teacher to the parents. This school was one of the best choices we have made for our kids. read more

Amazing school, amazing teachers...! A hidden gem in SanJose area. I cudnt be happier to have enrolled my kid in Building Kids school. Fell in love the first day I toured the school. The classroom activities are sooo unique and super fun. We have constant updates regarding food, nap, pictures of activities done by my kid for the day through Brightwheel app on daily basis. My son absolutely adores his teachers and loves going to school each day. Highly recommend..!!! read more

BuildingKidz is the best of the best. I can say that my son has thrived in the environment. He enjoys doing his classwork, and he is very motivated to do so. Math, language and even science are thought and each are taken with great care. This school is simply perfect. The curriculum is very age appropriate and it challenges my son. He looks forward to doing his homework and the work seems to provide just about the right amount of work and challenge. The teachers are extremely engaged and supportive in all regards. Ultimately, the school provides a very warm and supportive environment. The teachers and administration at BuildingKidz are very caring. Since day one of BuildingKidz opening its doors, my son received individualized attention in his classwork and growth. The school focuses not only academic but also character development. Further, it has a wonderful and engaging support from its community and this is seen in fun events and celebrations. To also add, during the challenging times, the school went above and beyond to provide its students and community with its resources while never missing a beat on its warmth and welcome. Overall, BuildingKidz is fantastic - with its dedicated staff, it provides its students with a good foundation for in character building as well as educational fundamentals. Our daughter has been in the infant room for the past 8 months and we couldn't be happier with Building Kidz. She is still wary of strangers having spent the first year of her life mostly isolated from COVID, but she loves her days at "school". And we are able to have piece of mind while we are working. I also love the use of the brightwheel app to keep us updated throughout the day. The teachers always take the time to chat at pickup to let us know how things went and they also upload pictures of her having fun everyday! read more

Our son started at Building Kidz three years ago (then Early Discoveries), and he has grown through their daycare, preschool, after-school, and summer camp programs. We are very happy with our choice and look forward to continuing to enroll our son here. The programs offered through this school are engaging and enriching. Indoor and outdoor activities keep the kids thinking and active, and the field trips we've been on, from pumpkin patches to the planetarium, have been so great. We also love that this school makes sure to include the arts (e.g. art, music, dance, gymnastics) in their curriculum. Additionally wonderful are the special activities the school hosts throughout the school year. Celebrations such as Halloween parades, egg hunts, and a week's worth of fun, themed evenings during Turn Off the T.V. Week are easy to enjoy. And one thing that's been a constant for us is Parents' Night Out. Our extended family lives far away, so having a familiar, safe place where our son can spend an evening a month with his friends and teachers while we, Mom and Dad, have date night is priceless. The best thing about this school, though, has to be the fantastic teachers. They care about the kids and are easy to communicate with. Our son has built relationships with teachers that have continued even when he's moved up to a different class, and the community here is small, so all of the teachers know all of the kids. Of special note is the fact that the staff has been so supportive and understanding of his needs. He is on the autism spectrum and so has a number of challenges, but he's been able to work through many of them with the help of his teachers and peers. While some of the activities mentioned above have temporarily changed due to the pandemic, the core curriculum and teacher attentiveness have not. The school has been responsive and thoughtful in their planning and procedures, and it brings us relief to know our son is in a clean environment during the day as he has a newborn sister at home. One day we hope she will attend here too! read more

Our girls have been attending this school since 2018 and we have had a great experience. We are so impressed by their teachers and the emphasis on academics from an early age. They receive a great balance of extracurricular and educational time each day and our older daughter was very well prepared for first grade. We are grateful the school maintained its standards through the ownership transition and kept our girls safe throughout COVID. read more
