My wife and I originally planned to start at another daycare last year for our 8 month old. However, we learned last minute that daycare was not going to have a spot for us for three more months than planned. This led to us searching for a bridge care solution until our spot in line was called. Insert Buiding Kidz. With only a few weeks until my paternity leave was ending, I reached out to Jackie to see if they would have an opening for him in January. Over those few weeks, we were able to tour the facility and enroll, with Building Kidz fully aware that he would only be there for three months. During those three months, I couldn't have asked for an easier transition to daycare as a new parent. Ms. Rosanna, her team in the Infant room, and any staff we interacted with showed so much love, care, and attention to our son. We loved that we would receive updates on their app, including feedings and how much he ate, diaper changes, and photos and videos of him playing and learning. There is also a messaging system to chat with the teachers during the day. We have even received some art that he created, creating precious memories for our family. Even when he bumped his head one time, we were immediately notified, sent a picture of the injury, and was updated through the day. The pick-up deadline is later than our new daycare, which is nice, although the parking situation outside can become difficult during peak times. This great experience made leaving after the scheduled three months that much harder. We had intended reasons to switch daycares, and it had nothing to do with how Building Kidz cared for our son. If, for whatever reason, things didn't work out at his new daycare, we planned to bring him back. read more

I sent my child here through care.com's backup care program. The day of the first drop off, they took my paperwork and child and basically had no interaction with me other than where to write my son's name on the log. They didn't ask about my child's specific needs or any tips for his care. I doubt his teacher read his large stack of paperwork before they started his care. My son usually is quick to tell us about all of his meals and when we asked him what he ate at school he said "nothing" and was ravenous when he came home. We were concerned and when we picked him up the next day and asked how he was and how he ate, the lady at the door shrugged and said he was not in her class. We tried calling the office to see how he was and never got past a voicemail. My son seemed to be fine and doesn't appear injured in any way, but I would never know if there was an incident because THERE IS NO COMMUNICATION other than hello and goodbye at the door. read more

Our daughter has been going to Building Kidz since she was 9 months old. I can tell the staff really love the kids and she has been very happy there. We really like their focus on arts and music. Their academics are good as well, my daughter is counting and reading sight words better at 4 than I was in kindergarten. We are going to miss it when she starts school later this year! read more

I can not say enough great things about the programs at Building Kidz on Grand Ave. Jackie was super helpful with all of my concerns and questions and my youngest son seemed to really like her as much as my first one does which is a huge plus. When I toured their school it was clean and we'll set up. They had these cute facades of firehouse, police station etc in the halls which I though was a nice touch. Leaving your baby in the hands of anyone besides your own parents, well... we haven't even done that yet, but we will Mom I promise!! They have provided great care to our 6 month old and to us by always responding to our questions through their app and keeping us informed on when he's sleeping/ eating/ and pooping , which makes us feel that we are actually there! I cannot say enough good things about this child care setting. The staff has been so supportive, helpful and kind to us. Dropping off your child for the first time to someone else is not an easy task. Their smiles, welcoming and posistive attitude has helped make this process easier for us. My little one has been attending for a month now and is so HAPPY to be there. I see the pictures and videos in the app of him exploring the room, playing and smiling. He just looks so happy and it is the best feeling for a parent to know and see that you are child is care for and enjoying his time while you are away. The infant room teachers have been helpful with him too since at first he didn't want to eat or sleep much but after two weeks he was doing better and even in a better schedule that we now follow at home as well. The price is so much reasonable than other places around here. The place is kept clean and organized!The building itself might look a little older but the rooms are specious, modern and with great quality furniture and equipment. So far (been going since start of the month) -- this place has been great! I was very reluctant to send my baby (2.5 months) to day care as I had a lot of pressure from my parents to care ourselves ("parent care is best!") but it was reaching a point where I had been avoiding getting back to my research work and writing my dissertation, and things were getting real since I got a defense date set for May. I finally caved into 2 days of day care a week so I could get real work done and focus on my baby the remaining 3. Family has also come to visit and attempt helping but it has been more chaotic than helpful, tbh... we ended up with more sleepless nights from a stressed out baby and stressed out parents. To start, this was the first day care that would respond in a timely manner to phone calls and emails. I can't believe I'm saying this. I had to have contacted nearly 30 between Redwood City and South City (where my husband works) and too many were terrible with providing any information, taking forever to put me on a wait list (even though I'm the one paying them), or putting me through a bureaucratic wringer just to get on the wait list. These ppl were on top of things and happy to do it, which was a win for me. The first day I brought my baby to this day care (located in a church), I started to cry when I arrived since I had never dropped her off with anyone else, but seeing how warm and loving the staff was, and how excited they were to see her, I knew she was in good hands. The infant center is spacious, with plenty of room to crawl around and lots of toys. Most importantly, it is CALM and happy. The staff is calm and gentle with handling babies. My daughter is easily overstimulated and I swear she comes back calmer than she would be at 6PM after a day at home. After half a month her nap schedule is more established than it was before and she has learned to take a pacifier and calm herself. The nap area is adjacent to the play area but dark, spacious and since the center is calm to begin with, noise is not a problem. My baby has napped fine and perhaps more than at home where we have a lot of road noise outside. They have an app that also shows what happened throughout the day (one piece of feedback is that occasionally it doesn't get updated in the afternoon but the staff is happy to share their notes with us at pickup). In comparison, we've visited with other day cares where it really did look like a place that your kids kill time mindlessly until you can pick them up, or chaotic from the number of children squeezed into a small space. I must say this is the worst day car you can ever bring your child to. My son was only attending this school for a little over 3 months and within these three months, I have asked several times how his day was and no one ever was able to provide me with an answer. I wanted to follow up with an email from my discussion yesterday afternoon with Miss Jackie. Yeager had an incident where he was bit in the arm by another classmate, and blood was exposed from the impact of the bite on June 30th. There was an incident report written up and the photo was taken and updated in the app. I however was never notified, nor did a teacher call me when this happened. I find this strange and UNFAIR because anytime my son did something wrong I was talked to and given a report. As I discussed with you this afternoon, Jackie, there was yet again another failure to communicate this incident with me upon picking up Yegger on June 30th. Upon enrolling my son I was told that anytime there is hitting, biting, or a fall the parent will need to sign a report to ensure they are aware of what happened and how it happen. This was failed to be done and no one told me about what happened. This created a HUGE problem within our family and I was called by not only his father but his mother as well as my mother asking me what happened. I had to tell them I didn't know which in turn made me look like a bad parent, and not only that, we have a new puppy and I was asked to get rid of the dog because we assumed he was the one who bit Yegger. I also mentioned to Jackie that Yegger received an incident report about 1 month 1/2 ago and I was told by a teacher to please sign. I asked the teacher if she could provide me with information on what happened and what caused this behavior, she told me I don't know (in a rude tone) and I politely asked her if she could find someone who knew more information and she said no one was available. At that point, I was frustrated because I felt like none of these teachers were communicating with one another. How do I know my child is safe? My response to her (with frustration in my voice) was "Well then I am not going to sign any form if someone can't provide me with any details." I also said, "I hated this school!" --What should have been done or told to me in a respectful way... "Hi Jasmine unfortunately I cannot provide you with any information, but I will be sure to have someone reach out to you who can discuss this matter further" - This is the response that I would have liked to receive. Additionally, I mentioned to Jackie that there have been several occasions where I've smelled cigarette smoke coming off of Teacher Jasmine, and I told Jackie that was not acceptable. One because this is a toddler daycare, and number two if there is a child with bad asthma they can get really sick or need to be treated with medication. I also told the director that there are a few teachers who just have a bad attitude and who are really rude to parents, and the tone in which I have heard them talk to children is UNACCEPTABLE. I had high hopes for this school and began to realize that in many of the photos, my son was either excluded from the circle or placed away from children. Given that yes, my son is a bit on the more active side and has TONS of energy, and at times can get handsy with friends. I would have liked to see Yegger's teachers work with him and teach him to keep his hands to himself as opposed to excluding him from circle time/ music class. I think that this school has way too many children that they can handle. The staff doesn't have the proper training to maintain communication with the number of kids they are caring for. I told Jackie there should be more staff meetings so that teachers are all on the same page and are able to provide parents with a brief rundown of how their child's day went at school. I decided to pull Yegger out of Building Kidz Grand Ave SSF on July 3rd. He will no longer/ ever attend this school. He is now attending a wonderful school by the name of Good Samaritan, where the teachers are polite, nurturing, and willingly provide you feedback about your child. They make you feel welcome and are always available to chat. My son is extremely happy and making friends!! Building Kidz does not have enough ventilation and it smells so bad in there. They need to talk with the staff and teach them how to be a bit more nurturing to the students and most IMPORTANTLY GET BETTER AT COMMUNICATING AMONGUST EACH OTHER AND WITH PARENTS. We had the most traumatic experience of sending our daughter at this Building Kidz that I feel obligated to write a review so other parents can know about it. My daughter was 7 months old when we enrolled her. She is our first so I felt nervous about sending her to school but I figured this was a good place given the five star rating. We were on the waitlist but got off pretty quickly. There are some things I didn't like about the place right off the bat - for instance, there isn't a separate quite room for the babies to sleep (instead it's a same room with a wall division with a window cut out) so my daughter who used to be amazing at naps (2-3 hours per nap) started to only sleep 20-30 mins at tops. Where the horror story begins... I went to go pick up my daughter earlier than usual one day. I walked into the building and peeped into the window as I was about to go into the baby room, I noticed there was a baby sitting in the middle of the room, completely distraught from crying for so long. She was bright red and looked completely wasted. I thought, "Omg. Who is that? That can't be my child." As I walked into the room, I realized that it was indeed my daughter. When I called her name to have her crawl to me, she couldn't even register that it was me because she was so out of it. It took her a few mins to register and finally when I held her, I noticed that her entire body and hair were soaked from sweat, her face was covered in tears, she had raspy, husky voice from crying for so long. I immediately looked around where the teachers were. One of them was in the area with all the cribs and the other was actually not too far from where my daughter was playing with another kid!!! When that teacher noticed that I had walked in, she looked panicked. She turned around and got up and said "oh, I kept on telling her to come to me but she wouldn't come!" Wait, what? She's 7 months old and you kept on telling her to come to you? Couldn't you as a caregiver have gone to her and picked her up so she stops crying? For how long have you left her crying like that? My heart sank immediately. I know my daughter and she would have been ok if she had picked her up for a few mins and then put her back down. As a mom, I didn't know what to do. I was just paralyzed from the shock and all I wanted to do was get my daughter out of there. As I drove home, I thought about what happened. I wanted to pull her out of this place immediately but I knew I couldn't since my husband and I both had work the following day and we had no alternative. The following morning I talked to Ms Jackie, the director, about it. I told her what I saw and how it made me feel uncomfortable. She apologized but I no longer had any faith left for the place. Our son went to Building Kidz SSF from age 11-18 months and we were super happy with our experience. From day 1 the teachers all knew our baby by name and seemed to really care. Our boy would go happily into day care every single day, no tears, and in fact would excitedly say their names in happy anticipation when getting ready in the morning. I loved the app they use for keeping us in the loop every day on what he was up to/ how his meals and naps went - the messaging function was a really quick and easy way to communicate with staff. COVID protocols have adapted over the months, and have helped us feel safe sending our baby there. My daughter attended Building Kidz of South San Francisco from when she was 7 months old until just a couple of weeks ago, she's now 2.5 years old. Our son (6 months) also started daycare there at 4 months. We had a wonderful experience with Building Kidz of SSF. The teachers are great. All of the teachers, even the ones that were not instructors of their classes, knew their names. It is an incredibly friendly and warm environment. Both my husband and I work full time so to find a daycare/preschool that we could trust our children with was a huge win for us. We would have continued to keep them at this school, however, we just moved to San Carlos. We actually transferred my son to the Building Kidz San Mateo location because of our positive experience. My daughter loves coming here. They do so much for the kids and Teacher Anna Sheafe is great! She really makes the effort to keep her students clean and tidy, I can tell because whenever I pick up my daughter, she is just the way I left her. Most places let the kids get dirty and run around with their hair all over their faces and covered in snots, they have their jackets on at a 80 degrees weather, not here! Its the little "mommy" things that matter and teacher Anna makes sure your kids are taken care of. Its a good home, away from home for your little preschooler. Building Kidz was great. My son began as an infant and continued to the Waddler Room. The staff was great and I applaud them for dealing with my son's crazy tantrums. My son eventually became more comfortable with the teachers and had a great time. They taught him how to color, paint, and dance to nursery rhymes. My son was happy when I would pick him up and I loved seeing his artwork each day. I liked Building Kidz use of the Brightwheel App. It always kept me informed on my son's activities, naps, feedings, and potties. They would always post pictures of my son to both my wife's and I's Brightwheel profile. The only thing I didn't like was the staff's lack of knowledge of the "Breath-Holding Spell" and the "Nursemaid's Elbow." Both of these occur commonly with toddlers, but the staff was unfamiliar with the incident when it happened to my son. Overall, I liked Building Kidz. read more

My son just recently graduated from Building Kidz and attended the preschool for almost a year and a half. The teachers are super nice and very caring. We are especially a huge fan of Miss Elga! The music and dance programs are top notch. They do a twice per year performance with all the children...from the little ones all the way through the pre-K kids. It will seriously melt your heart! My high-energy son flourished in the theatrical environment. I can say he also really enjoyed their Spanish and science lessons too. I would encourage them to increase their Spanish curriculum for non-spanish speaking kids. My only (minor) criticism was the food they served, but recently they have been doing a great job stepping up the quality of their lunches and snacks. All in all, it was a great experience for us. I would definitely recommend this school to others. It's very affordable and the staff and student body is very diverse. Also, don't let the fact that it's in a church building concern you...it's a completely separate entity. read more

Hi, We just enrolled for the south sf daycare & really unsure why south sf center charges a material fee(100$) in addition to enrollment fee for infants? And then looking at the instructions we are asked to provide everything from crib sheets to emergency kit? What does this material fee include in south sf that pacifica or other centers doesnt? --UPDATE In response to the administration: 1. "All the initial fees go towards the setting up of new students in the school system and technology platforms, paperwork, emergency supplies, etc." - you guys charge 150$ enrollment fee saying that goes towards system and technology platforms, paperwork,etc? - the emergency kit parents are asked to submit among everything asks for basics like water, space blanket as well (What personalized touch does space blanket & water provides?) And to your answer what does enrollment fee of 150$ cover ? So total you charge 250$ only in South SF center siince Pacifica doesnt charge material fee of 100$ & their enrollment fee is also less than 150$(which I understand variance based on area). Question is around the 100$ material fee and then asking parents to get emergency stuffs as listed below: Emergency kits should include these items: · 16 ounces of juice and water · Non-perishable food · Plastic eating utensils · Emergency Blanket (or Space Blanket). These are usually silver in color and packed small. My almost 2 year old daughter has been with Building Kidz (BK) since she was 4 months old. She is always excited to come to school and is always greeted with smiles and friendly hugs. What a great start to her day! The staff at BK have always been helpful, positive, organized and will follow any requests you have (e.g. dietary requirements, best way to soothe your child,..etc). I like that the school has different rooms for different stages as the child develops (e.g. Nursery, Waddlers, Toddlers, Preschool). The kids get to still see their favorite teacher/care provider as they get older. So it feels like a family/community. It's a medium sized school - about 60 kids in total in the school. It's a big enough staff so if someone is out on vacation or ill, there will be someone available to cover a class and it's small enough that all the teachers know all the kids' names. They have a regular schedule of activities for the kids - with an emphasis on performing arts (dancing, music, drawing). I didn't know kids could start using paint/markers as early as 9 months! I was pleasantly surprised to receive my daughter's first "drawing" at such an early age. In addition, they read to the babies and even have them participate in circle time (even if they can't sit up yet!). My daughter is social and happy at BK and outside of BK as well. This place was referred to us by the state. The teachers are sweet and my son who has been going there for about almost 2 months now looks forward on school days. I can see that my son is happy attending this school. I love seeing school projects being done and the fact that the front door is always lock unless you know the code. I feel safer. If there's any criticism tho will be that the facility is needing some TLC.. Every time I walk inside the classroom, i smell a scent of pee. Prolly from the kids who had some accident but I swear it seems to be coming from the carpet. Maybe they shud convert to hardwood flooring or something easier to clean and non absorbent. My daughter is a little over 3 yrs. old and has been attending Building Kidz since she was about 18 months old. She absolutely loves it. All of the teachers (especially Cynthia and Jackie) are all real great with her. They are always smiling and have such great positive Energy. The director, Miss Ana and her assistant, Sarah are always so attentive to Angelina and both so nice and helpful to me, too. The school is also very safe. There is a code to get in. Building Kidz SSF was definitely one of the best decisions we had made as an initial introduction to a school environment for our son. With only less than a year of attendance, we had seen major improvements in his speech communication, social skills, and learning capabilities. One of our proudest moments was seeing him able to write out his name on his own while out running errands one weekend. Every day after school, he would share everything he had done that from the kind of snacks, the activities he participated in, and all the friends he played with. We will definitely miss Ms. Elga so so much! She had helped Elijah with transitioning into day care, and even helped us with strategies how to make drop offs more smoother. Elijah loves her so much so we cannot thank her enough for all that she has done. I called their office twice to get information about pre-school program, but got no response. Then I sent an email and finally received a call. The director was supposed to follow-up via email and send important information regarding the program (such as tuition). That was three weeks ago. Two more email reminders but no response. If this is how they treat prospective parents, then my response is "no thanks" read more

My baby was at Building Kidz from when I went back to work (he was 14 weeks) until he got a spot in the daycare next to my office (at 8 months). Overall, I really liked this school. I love the diversity and the community feel of the center - it doesn't feel like a sterile corporate atmosphere like some daycares. The kids are happy, and the caregivers are loving - that made such a difference for me when I left my little guy for the first time as such a tiny baby. He really loved Anna, Petrona, and Leah. Karen, Madeline, Shannon and of course Jackie were also great. And he thrived there - they really worked on helping him develop gross motor skills and it was great for him to be around the other kids. It reassured me that my choice to do daycare over a nanny share was the right decision. And, it was so much more affordable than many daycares and nanny options! There were a couple of things I didn't always love - the nap room for the babies has no noise separation from the main room, so my LO took really short naps (though it's hard to say whether this is just how he naps at daycare). Also sometimes the afternoon teachers didn't know how his day had gone because they just got there, and that was a bummer for me - I like to know whether he had a good day or a hard day. Building Kidz has solid program. Everyday I feel that the program is being implemented based on age group. Science, Language, Music, Dance. They provide meals. Lunch options are pretty healthy. Snacks are mostly on junk food side. Also I do not like that there is a lot of cakes (birthday) given to kids. My daughter came in home with blue skin around her mouth and it took me some time to get it off. I kept thinking that all that artificial junk she ate. Mrs Elga, Mrs Anna, Mrs Cynthia - are awesome teachers. others may need a little training and keep their "big" voice in check. All in all good school. Good facilities. I like the gym and this is a big space for kids to run off energy without going outside on rainy day. read more

My son has been enrolled at Building Kidz since he was 6 months old. He's almost two years old now. From the very beginning, he loved going there. We would drop him off and he'd immediately go play without even a tear. Don't worry about asking for extra attention if your child needs it. They'll gladly do it. He learns so much from them too. Just when I think he's too young to know a certain word or body part (i.e. head, eyes, etc.), he'll come home and recite it to me. Our daughter has been w/ Building Kidz since she was 4 months old. She spends about 9 hours a day there while we work. We would not allow her to spend so much time somewhere if we did not absolutely love the place. The staff is amazing, she has known most of them since she was an infant and loves them all like family. She always comes home surprising us with new things that she has learned. I cannot say enough great things about the staff at Building Kidz. As I am sure all first time parents feel, I felt that finding a daycare to meet all of my standards would be next to impossible. But after the first visit here, my skeptism on the whole process began to change. In the first few minutes there, my son was already smiling at and reaching for Ms Jackie. By the second week, he was no longer crying when I left (which of course made me want to cry a little), but at the same time feel secure that he was really enjoying himself. I have watched him grow and learn so much while he has been there and Ms Alice, Ms Petrona, Ms Micky and Ms Shannon always make sure to give me a full report of the day and the fun activities that he did. I could also check in throughout the day on MyChild to see if there were new pictures posted or how he was eating that day. My son is now 15 months and it seems like everyday he is coming home with a new trick :) may it be a new word, pointing to a new body part, giving high fives or dancing. Look no further! I've been taking my daughter here since she was 11m, she is now 18. This place is run well, the directors are awesome, the front door is secured with a code that changes each month. The teachers are kind, compassionate and warm. My daughter started in the baby room and moved to the toddler room at 15m cause she was ready. I truly love this school and all that it encompasses. As parents we worry about sending our children, who can't even speak yet somewhere with caregivers that aren't blood family. I promise you. Each and everyday I leave her I am at peace. How do I know she loves it? Cause when I'm driving to school and telling her we are going to school she smiles with glee, when we pull up she screams with excitement. When I pick he up I see her playing happily with her friends. My daughter is social, not shy and loves being around her peers. Love, love this school!!! read more

My daughter has been at Building Kidz for 8 fantastic months. She adores her teachers and I never have problems with drop-off. She has been in 2 different rooms as she aged, and the transition from room to room was handled gradually which made it go smoothly. There are lots of stimulating activities and exercise/gym time, she is always tired at night and I am amazed by all of the new words and songs she brings home. The building is secure with multiple security levels and door locks. One of my favorite aspects is the app the teachers use to provide real-time updates, pictures, and messages throughout the day. The best part of Building Kidz is the teachers, who have been professional and loving across the board. I would recommend Building Kidz to everyone. read more

December 2016 Increase in tuition by $100, increase in performance arts fee to $65, just increases all around to all fees. Who can still afford to send their kids to pre-school anymore? There has to be a point where they realize that the average Joe can not afford this. Soon the only ones that can afford this place are the parents who gets their tuition subsidized but can still somehow afford to drive BMW's and Mercedes. The teachers here are great and very trust worthy but the school needs some updates/cleaning and more creative and inspiring classrooms. Wish the meals were less Costco-ish and fresh fruits given instead of from the can. Wish the water they give the kids were filtered instead of from the tap. Just wish the tuition increase went to improving the food and classrooms etc instead of just cost of living adjustments for the staff. None of this exists for Building Kidz. January 2016 Decided to update my review since my initial one in 2013. Many changes have happened since my last review and I feel that I should provide an update. For starters tuition has been increasing $50 every year and I suspect that it will happen every year. Yes, the teachers need raises but it hits the pocket book hard after a certain point. The increase is said to help maintain the My Child app (which is suppose to provide updates on you child throughout the day and how they did with their meals and naps). I find I get my updates a day later if not longer. Your email would gets bombarded with updates that i find repetitive and annoying especially since it is not current. The pictures updates of what your kid is up to is nice but you don't see it in your email, you have to open up the site to view the pictures. A new thing this year is that they are charging an annual $50 fee for performance arts materials. Seriously!?! I have always supplied my child with the outfit and the decorations for the show are mediocre and definitely not worth the $50 they are charging per child (~75 kids x $50 = $3750) Really?!? hard pill to swallow. For the tuition I pay I expect the shows to be covered in it if not then take it off the calendar. I like that there is dance an music in the kids daily routines but i don't need to pay $50 a year to watch it happen on stage. Gary is no longer there to watch the door but a plus is that the classroom doors have a keypad code also to enter Most teachers are all nurturing and caring and I trust my child being here since i know it is a safe place. I just want a break down of where the tuition is going towards. October 2013 This place is great! I like the fact that their doors are locked and during pick up and drop off Gary is there to ensure that no piggy backers enters the building. The ladies in the infant room are very nurturing and loving. Alice and Petrona are very flexible and will follow the routines you do at home. Alice goes the extra mile to make sure my baby eats on the fussy days. I love it that they give me a run down of how my baby did during the day. Kuddos also goes out to Sarah and Jackie...my kid learned so much from these 2 amazing teachers. read more

I enrolled my son in Building Kidz when he was 20 months old, so this review is mainly for the Waddlers class. Throughout his time here, my son has been extremely well taken care of and loved by his teachers - Miss Gina, Miss Madeline and Miss Rama. My two year old is always excited to put on his clothes and shoes and go to school in the morning. They genuinely care about him and have great activities and programs for the kids. I also never have to worry about my son while he's there. What sets Building Kidz apart is its welcoming, community-feel. The director, Ana, is also extremely accommodating and helpful. The other parents are really nice. We are leaving to enroll in my company's daycare which is heavily subsidized, but I don't think we'll like it as much as Building Kidz. I'm very, very sad to be leaving. If you're lucky enough to get a spot here - take it and don't leave! read more

I decided to take a chance and enroll my daughter here for preschool...FAST FORWARD...Now she just graduated the kindergarten bridge program with more knowledge then she's ever had. Ms. Corie is a GREAT Kindergarten teacher. Without her help my daughter would not be ready to take on the challenge of the public school system. I loved how the teacher to student ratio is low (1-8) with a lot more feedback and one-on-one attention. Ms.Ana is a GREAT director. She was very understanding when my daughter had to be hospitalized and missed school for 2 weeks. She was able to accommodate our situation. Thank You! I'm glad that there are schools like this where the adults really look out and care for the well being of there students. The rates are affordable and they offer 3 meals for the kids a day. The pick up time was at 6 pm, which is one of the many reasons I chose this place. Commuting to work makes it hard for me to pick her up by 5pm like other places. Overall, I would definitely recommend this school. Now my daughter is headed to public school with a greater educational understanding. Thanks to everyone at Building Kidz!!! read more

My youngest daughter just graduated from Building Kidz and I also have an 8 year old that went here too. They were always very accommodating if we had to change the day my daughter came in due to my husband's schedule change. (Both girls only went 3 days a week.) I love their Spring and Winter showcases...the themes were never repeated and they were fun to watch! I loved how they offered breakfast, snack and lunch, whereas other preschools offer only a snack. The little playground was excellent too and they always helped the little ones apply sunblock. The Halloween parade was my favorite. We walked around the block and a teacher would be at each corner passing out candy. The monthly newsletter, menu and door code update was great too. My husband and I interviewed with a few preschools before we chose Building Kidz, and my first impression was with Ana. Loved her from the beginning! She's very sweet and she really cares for the children, as do all the staff at Building Kidz. Miss Nancy gets a medal for being very patient with my second daughter because she's quite a handful! You will be missed! Everyone at Building Kids is great! Miss Jackie was always there in the early morning to greet us and try to distract my daughter because she cried a lot and didn't want to go, lol! (Thank you!) I highly recommend Building Kidz...They are very trustworthy and responsible. read more

My daughter has been going to Building Kidz for just about a year and a half. I could not ask for a better pre-school and teacher for my daughter. Ms. Sarah is the pre-school teacher at Building Kidz SSF. Since Sarah started I have seen such an amazing growth in my little girl. She has learned numbers, letters, shapes, addition, subtraction, science - name it! Ms. Sarah also works closely with the parents and is consistent with giving feed back on how their child is doing. She will tell me what her strengths are and even her weaknesses. She will work with the parent to help guide your child in the direction you want them to be in. You get the feeling that your child is the only one in that class. They also have a dance teacher that comes in to teach them dance and a music teacher to teach them on how to play different instruments. They have a pretty big gym and a playground across the street. Anna is the director. She's great! Being that I am a single parent raising my little girl, she has worked with me time and time again. The lunch program is pretty good. My daughter was real picky prior to going to Building Kidz and because she's being introduced to all different types of food, veges and fruits it makes my life easier as a parent to try to get her to eat fruits and veges that she didn't eat before. She's now in the Kindergarten class and will be leaving Building Kidz in about a month or so. So far Ms. Alexia (who's the Kindergarten Teacher) seems to be doing well. She's fairly new... But already my daughter is learning rhymes on how to count her numbers. I would definitely recommend this school to all parents - especially the parents who have children that are 3-4 years old. Ms. Sarah will help prepare your child for Kindergarten without a doubt. If I ever have another one - he/she will be going to Building Kidz. read more

Similar to John C., I decided to take a chance and enroll both of my children here at Building Kidz as it is less than a mile from my work. My daughter was only 13 months and my son was almost 4 when they started two years ago. My daughter is still attending, but my son has now moved on to public school. I have to say, Building Kidz has gone above and beyond my expectations. ALL of the teachers are genuinely sweet and care for the children. The facility itself is very secure, safe, and always clean. Every student receives equal attention and isn't just another number - which is what I really liked. Another reason why I gave this school 5 stars was also due to their built-in Performing Arts program. It was always a joy to watch my children during their special performances. I can't thank Building Kidz enough for taking great care of my children throughout the years and making such a huge impact on them - personally and through excellent curriculum. ALL (and I can't emphasize this enough) members of the staff are fantastic and genuine people. I highly recommend this school to all parents who are seeking peace-of-mind that their kids will receive high quality care and education. read more

I LOVE Building Kidz! We have toured a couple of places and none has come close to the warmth of the teachers. Ms Melodie was very accommodating! I don't think she is still there, though? Sad. We didn't even get to say good bye. Anyway, Ms Jackie took over and she is the nicest person! She's just as accommodating, if not more. LO attended the infant class. They split it with the older and walking babies taken care of by Ms Alice! She is the cutest! She genuinely cares for the younger toddlers. I can't say enough great things about the teachers. In terms of curriculum, there's not much since they're young, but I know LO enjoys the art projects they do. I love that there is an app that they use to update what's been happening or what has happened throughout the day. They send photos, too! Will definitely recommend BK for infants. read more

Finally I decide to write this pre-school a review after 1 year. Terrible Pre-school. When my son was 28 months in April I sent him there because it is very close to my work place and no diaper train require. My son went there for 9 months and keep changing to 5 different teachers(From Cynthia to Katie to Jackie to Sarah to ---'a new teacher') which it is very hard for a 2-year old. Sometimes the room is smelly(like pee) and most of the time my son's hair smell like that even though everything look organize and clean. Since it is a pre-school, I am expecting my son at least learn some basic knowledge like-colors, shape and #s from them but NOTHING. How can a kid concentrated to learn by switching to 5 teachers in 9 months. In addition, in October my son fell down from the slide in the gym room and broke his elbow/arm which has 2 fractures and casting for 8 weeks. Don't count on How much $ & time I spent on this case, every time I remember this case I really feel sorry to my son and NEVER recommend this school at all. My son is not a active boy at all, no fighting and no teasing at school at all. And I asked the teach clearly how he fell down, the teacher told me-she wasn't there, only the assistant there. Saying my son just accidently fell down from the top of the slide. One thing I have to indicated that Ana and Sarah are good miss as other people said. Few months later after my son diaper train I immediately change my son to a new pre-school. Now My son is in a new pre-school for almost a year, I love, my son love it. read more

There is nothing bad I can say about this school. My daughter started when she was 1, now 2 and it was the BEST decision I have made as a mom. SHE LOVES IT. First, there is a secured coded front door, that gets changed monthly for security reasons. There is a also a coded lock on each classroom door. Cant get anymore secure than that! Secondly, they send out monthly emails with each classrooms schedule of academics, the menu for lunch, and than the newsletter of Bdays and events, news for the month. Lastly, and my favorite (aside from the security). They give parents a login for "MY CHILD" I get emails throughout the day as to what she ate for breakfast and how much and for lunch, when she was changed and if was a bowel movement or pee, when she napped, activites she has done--and pics come attached --LOVE THIS and a final summary of it all. How amazing is that!? The staff from the directors to the teachers are wonderful. She has had three different classrooms now. Infant up to 16mths, than the next class until 24mths and now shes been in her toddler class since August (when she turned two). They teach them so much, and focus on the arts as well which I love. She is extremely smart and its a compbination of what I do with her at home and school. She is social, confident, and is great with her peers. They have a big gymnasium where the kids play. I just love this place and cant say enough great things. I interviewed three other well-known schools from San mateo to Burlingame to Millbrae, and this place gave me a great feeling. She goes MWF. There is 7 within the Bay Area. My daughter has friendships, loves going and has learned so much academically, socially and personally. Waiting to put your kid in school until they are 3 is too long. Start them young. read more

My daughter went there when she was 5 months old, and she loved the place! She loved the care takers at building kidz and was very excited when going there in the mornings. I thought their infant space was good, they had separate space for kids who don't move around, they gave good food, and in the evening when we go there to pick her up they usually give a synopsis of how her day was! It was good to know if my daughter had napped well, ate well etc. directly from a person instead of reading through some papers. read more

I love Building Kid!! But more importantly, my son loves it. He started as a five month year old and now he's fourteen months and I could not be happier with the program they have and the staff. Every person there is amazing and the infant room is always happy and calm. I cannot say enough great things about Building Kidz!! read more
