I got the opportunity to meet and tour CAP. I learned about their history and how they help the people here in Moreno Valley with needs. While I was at the office I got to see the care and genuine passion they have for helping others. I was so impressed that I will continue to support CAP so they can continue to support the people who make this community amazing!

When I found out about this place through a lady who saw me passing out sandwiches, I couldn't help but extend a hand. So I called and spoke with Luis to see how I could be of assistance and find out about receiving food myself to pass out and this guy and Ms. Ludo were very informative. So me and my son got a rental, headed to the food pantry, and loaded the car up for a trip to the high desert! For those interested in helping this place will guide you every step of the way to make sure you got everything needed. From how to online guides, waiver forums, etc. They even have it mobile app friendly! Just make sure to start early if you're doing deliveries to people's houses so you can see where you're going and to beat the heat. Great bonding and learning experience for me and my son but not only that just a blessing there's a company likes this available to offer such services.

One of the volunteers will meet with you to unlock the gate and show you around. Volunteered w/ my coworker to help Helping Hands Pantry, specifically the gardening area. Their broccoli was ready to be harvested! One of the volunteer POCs, Paul, was kind enough to meet with me to explain the whole process. I've never harvested broccoli so this was a cool experience. All tools (knives, gloves, crates) are provided. My coworker, her daughter and I harvested 12 full crates of organic broccoli. To anyone reading this...please go to their website and sign up for a volunteer spot. This would be perfect for a school or work team building event. I challenge you to help out your local community! :) I will leave you with this... self-love is like gardening. Take time to plant yourself in sunlight and speak kind words to yourself. When you take better care of yourself, you can spread your self-love gift to the world.

I absolutely love this non profit. When I moved to Moreno Valley I started following Building Up Lives Foundation. I loved all the outreach the organization was doing. I knew one day I would volunteer for this organization. I reached out to volunteer recently. There is so much work that goes on behind the scenes to make this non profit able to feed the community weekly. Until recently they were feeding the community and unhoused daily. At the end of our food pantry give away many people didn't even say thank you. My heart feels good each time I volunteer. I am saddened that the community who is not in need does not support the organization. Well, not everyone, there is little support. It takes money to do what they do. Everyone who runs this nonprofit is a volunteer. No one gets paid. Julie Ann is amazing to volunteer with. She has a huge heart. As long as my health alows me to volunteer with this organization I will be there. I have also volunteered at the Shop 4 A Cause store. The store is so eclectic. 90% of the items are new. There are many collector items, and inexpensive clothes. It is a step up from thrift store. Many times you will find disabled adults and teens learning how to work in a store. This store was developed to support those with disabilities. Being a retired teacher, this was the icing on the cake. Building Up Lives Foundation thank you for what you do. read more

Having gone through so much turmoil in her own life, sadly her story continues with others going through much of the same turmoil. As their photographer I get to see them helping people on a daily basis, I see how hard they word and how many people they help It's a true blessing to be a small part of such a caring nonprofit. I've donated to this thrift store at least 5 times this year alone (I'm downsizing) as well as in…read moreprevious years and they rarely have receipts available, which are printed on regular copy paper, so I don't get how they never have any. I never purchased anything from them so I can't speak to that experience. They provide meals for the unhoused, so that's awesome. I'm going to find other organizations to donate to in the future; you know, spread the love around and hopefully get a receipt.
