I can't wait to see what other tours are coming soon. *Note: I have medical conditions that often lead to fatigue and can sometimes making walking tours like this difficult, and one person in our group has limited mobility (trouble with stairs mostly). We discussed these things before starting the tour, and they were able to help modify it for easier walking routes and included a few short breaks without leaving anything out! that said, this tour is an excellent option for young kids and families!

The tour began with a charming bike ride through some of the city's oldest streets. We began the walking portion at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist and meandered through several of the city's 22 well-preserved parks. We also visited the Colonial Cemetery where Paul enlightened me of several fascinating facts regarding the cemetery's many uses throughout the years. He even brought water on the tour for me! Throughout the entirety of the tour Paul was able to answer any questions I had--everything from the city's history to the plethora of botany questions I had. In addition, Paul tailored the tour to my interest in architecture and focused a lot of our time on stately homes and the original layout of Savannah.

I also have read the book and seen the movie Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil! I'm a huge fan. I wanted to get the most out of my visit, so I figured it was best to find an expert to help me with that, and I couldn't have been happier to find Paul Daniels. My tour took place on June 29th. Paul provides walking tours through historic Savannah, and literally takes you back in time. He described the growth and development of Savannah in its early years, and how progression of the city as its population grew. The buildings, gardens, founders, and tough times were all described in great detail. Walking through the various squares, he was able to tell the stories of who was responsible for them, and what they meant to the community. He is clearly knowledgeable about the area, and the tour took me on a journey through history. He gave me amazing information that lasted the duration of my visit, and really helped me know so much about the area. Savannah offers numerous lush gardens. Paul also has extensive knowledge and a background in landscape design, and his ability to talk about the landscape, how the plant life exists in the warm/humid climate, and what trees are indigenous or were brought here was fascinating. It completed rounded out the tour! There is such a variety of information given on the tour, it would be great for anyone with an interest getting to know Savannah, AND is so affordable! Charming, Spacious, Restored... and Immaculate!…read more The Simon as of 2020 has new owners, according to [new] management company Lucky Savannah... and it shows. I'm from Cincinnati and stayed there with 7 friends in October 2020. This home is huge, and you won't feel cramped, even with a large group. Four bathrooms and five bedrooms. We were glad to find the property well-stocked with sundries like an iron, vacuum cleaner, cleaning supplies (dishwasher detergent, soap, kitchen trash bags, shampoo, hair dryers, Keurig pods, etc.). There was even a charger on my bedside table to plug in my iPhone. The kitchen was clean and had everything we needed: Nice appliances including a large refrigerator, quality saucepots, saute pans, all kinds of glassware, knives, and utensils. The Technivorm Moccamaster coffeemaker makes the best drip coffee I've ever tasted (there's also a Keurig if you just want a quick cup). From comparisons to older online pictures of The Simon (as I was researching VRBO properties), I can tell that the new 2020 owners have refurbished and redecorated all the bathrooms with new toilets, fixtures, shower rods, paint, artwork, etc. Everything is bright and clean and functional. The same goes for the bedrooms and downstairs; everything has been rejuvenated and updated: The living room and parlor have new furniture and have been tastefully redecorated and repainted. The new owners commissioned a portrait of the original homeowner, Simon Kehoe, which hangs in the downstairs den and is a nice connection to the home's history. The wraparound porch is spectacular, and it's nice to sit, relax, and socialize whilst sipping a beverage. The porch has been repainted and redecorated. Fans and lighting are all functional. The tacky artwork made of old dusty shutters is gone and the porch furniture looks brand new. There's a large table at the back section of the porch if you want to have an outdoor meal. The Simon's proximity to restaurants, attractions, and historical Savannah spots is perfect: We didn't have to use our car because everything was within walking distance. Parking was safe, convenient (and free), and right behind the house. We had a great time in Savannah and will definitely stay at this property again!

However, when we arrived we were let down. The house is filthy! Every prior house we have rented has been extremely clean. This house was disgusting. One thing I couldn't get over was all the flies in the house. We couldn't get rid of them. Living rooms: dust everywhere, stains all over rugs. Flies that we can get rid of! They appear every where. They didn't have a working vacuum to use to at least clean up a bit for the kids. Kitchen: the kitchen was advertised as the chef dream! It was more like a nightmare! No supplies. The pans and pots were all scratched up. Everything was dirty. Bathrooms: no water pressure and all sinks get clogged. The shower curtains are full with mold. Flies everywhere. Dining room: so small and could not fit the whole family there. We had to love the table to the spare living room. There we no cleaning supplies to at least clean up a bit. I wish I could have arrived early just to clean before allowing my daughter to crawl on these floors. We asked the house keeper to send over a working vacuum and we didn't get a response. The one in the house had so suction. Doors: front door lock did not work. Someone always had to open it. If not, we had to walk to the back door. Patio/porch: again very dusty and furniture was disgusting. The light and fan didn't work. Pros: location is amazing! Private parking is great. The size of the house was comfortable for everyone. The house could be great if they took care of it. Never coming to this house again. Awful.

I was walking down River St with two friends when we were lured in by the words "half off ghost tours." The ghost tours I have done previously in Savannah were a full pub crawl with 3-5 bars to stop at. We made sure with the gentleman on River St it was a pub crawl, and he said they would make 3 stops. This tour began at Wright Square and stopped at McDonnoughs about half way through the tour. One bar, not three. The stories were more about general Savannah history than it was ghost stories. The tour guide explained the stories very well, and they were great stories, but not ghost stories. If you're looking for a late history tour, this is the one for you. But if you're looking for a ghost pub crawl, pass on this one.

We met him at his home in the morning and spent 3 hours getting an education about Old Savannah. Phil was acknowledged by many as we walked the parks and blocks of Savannah. He was fun, articulate and really knowledgeable about the area and its current as well as past inhabitants. WE HAD A GREAT TIME and was sorry that our time came to an end so quick.
