They drafted up the whole HOA proposal, filed it and paid the permit fees. Dealt with everything from the energy provider. The HOA proposal was 18 pages long, and they wrote it. And the cost was less than Tesla wanted. Of course, Tesla came back and said, hey, we'll match that price. But at this point, it's too late. Like, why do I want to go back to you guys? Tesla energy is hard to work with and was being unreasonable. I signed the contract moved on, bought it from solstice. No regrets. I did still get the Tesla powerwall 3 and Tesla controller. If I could just cancel the contract at this point I would as I have no faith that it is going to get done right or on time. My experience has been frustrating…read morefrom the very beginning, and at this point I have completely lost confidence in their ability to properly inspect, communicate about, and timely service a solar system. My experience began before I purchased my home. The owner inspected the existing solar system and told me that it was up and running and functioning properly. I relied on that assessment when moving forward with the purchase of the home. After closing, I paid to have the manufacturer's warranty coverage transferred so that this company could service the system. It was only afterward, when a technician working with his company looked into the system, that I learned the system was not functioning properly. Had the problems been identified during the inspection, I would have addressed them as part of the home purchase and attempted to have the seller repair the system or cover the cost. Instead, I purchased the home believing the solar system was operational and have since incurred more than $2,000 in electric bills while trying to get it repaired. Getting the FIRST repair completed took more than 30 days and required constant follow-up on my part. During that process, I was repeatedly given explanations for the delays that were attributed to the technician. When I communicated directly with that technician, I was told that multiple things I had been told about him and the delays were not accurate. After more than a month of fighting to get something done, a significant portion of the system was finally repaired. Unfortunately, that still wasn't the end of it. It has now been approximately ANOTHER 30 days since that repair, and the system is still not functioning at 100%. The owner has acknowledged in writing that one of the eight solar strings remains malfunctioning and that the system is operating at approximately 87.5%. Once again, I have had to repeatedly chase down updates. I have been told several times that I would receive an update later that day, only to receive nothing until I followed up again. When I finally asked whether a crew had actually been scheduled to address the remaining malfunctioning string, I learned that no service date had even been scheduled. I asked for a firm service date rather than another open-ended estimate. Instead, I was told that they have "other things going on," that my repair "should" be scheduled before the end of the month, weather permitting, and that I would be updated "when we get caught up." I understand that equipment fails. I understand that companies get busy. I understand that the original inspection was performed at no charge. None of those things excuse my overall experience. Whether an inspection is free or paid, when a solar professional tells a prospective homeowner that a system is operational, I expect that assessment to be reliable. Had I known the actual condition of this system before closing, I could have addressed the issue with the seller. Instead, I have spent months fighting to get the system operational and have incurred more than $2,000 in electric bills in the process. My biggest issue isn't simply that my solar system needed repairs. It is the entire pattern of service: an inspection that failed to identify significant problems, more than 30 days to get the first repair completed, explanations for delays that were later contradicted by the technician they were attributed to, repeated promises of updates that did not happen without me following up, and now another unresolved issue with no firm service date. At this point, I simply cannot trust this company with my solar system, and based on my experience, I cannot recommend them. If you are purchasing a home with an existing solar system, my advice would be to have the system's actual production and functionality independently verified before closing, regardless of whether a solar company tells you the system appears to be operational.
