If you are considering becoming a Solar customer, do everything possible to not have Sunnova Energy Corporation service your account. I have been a Solar customer for one year, and while I am pleased to be, hopefully, contributing to the environment by utilizing the power of the sun to power my home, the customer service I have received from Sunnova, has been a headache. I am able to monitor the production of my system via an app on my phone. I reported that one of the panels on my home was only producing at 57% of what the other panels were producing. Obviously, I expect ALL panels to produce at the promised output. I reported the issue in April of this year. 2 months later, June 18th, Sunnova finally sent a technician. He acknowledged there was an issue and worked on the system for approximately 2 hours. He never corrected the issue. Now Sunnova will not stand behind their technician's inability to correct the issue and are refusing to correct the panel that is not producing at normal performance. I have spoken, and emailed, with 5 different representatives that refuse to do anything to correct the panel, despite the app on the phone clearly showing the panel at 57%. I did not pay to have any of the panels not performing as promised. Now in August, it has been over 4 months and this is the kind of customer service Sunnova provides to their customers. I am a senior citizen residing in Florida and there are laws to protect companies from taking advantage of senior citizens. I will be reporting Sunnova to whatever agency I have to. Avoid this company like the plague! They are unprofessional, unorganized and frankly not serious. Everyone from my project manager Sally Anguiano to her manager Joseph Trusso, down to their interconnection team are complete disasters! I signed up for a batter backup in early Nov and it was nothing but delay after delay after delay. They had to submit the application with my power company SCE 3 times because each time there were silly errors and each error caused my application to get pushed to the back of the line! Early Jan there were wild fires here in So cal which caused my power to be out 16 of 22 days. I expressed the urgency to get the backup battery installed yet ZERO was done on their side to push things along, ZERO compassion from them, and it became very evident to me Sally was working from home and putting in 1-2 hrs of actual work per day. When I would ask her to provide me something as simple as the application number so I could call myself to push things along she could not even do that! Today I officially canceled the contract and will be starting over with a new company. My father died in March 2024, at the age of 82 in Arlington, TX. He entered into a contract with this predatory company in October 2023. We have called repeatedly and sent a death certificate to Sunnova, requesting that they remove the panels. They have refused, stating that the contract could only be cancelled 3 - 5 business days after signing. What kind of company puts an 80+ yr old person under contract, knowing that they are in the twilight of their life? We now have to replace our roof and Sunnova refuses to permanently remove the panels. At this point, we have no choice but to seek legal counsel and report Sunnova's shady practices to the Federal Trade Commission. Do not, under any circumstance, do business with this company. Almost a month has gone by since my review, and after escalations, and several communication emails, I'd like to say that I am no way closer to a resolution. I get emails that read "I wanted to inform you that your service request is currently on hold. We are awaiting essential tools required for the process, which are being ordered directly from the manufacturer. Unfortunately, we cannot proceed until these tools arrive, and our timeline depends on the manufacturer's availability". This has gone on over a year. Our home closed on Sep 10th, and it is currently Oct 31st and Sunnova has yet to submit the application to PG&E to turn on our solar panels. I have called at least 6 times and supplied them with all of the necessary information they requested like the meter ID, PG&E electricity bill account number, etc. All they have to do is SUBMIT the application, but when I spoke to them today, they said they still don't know when they will submit it!!! They also said, we have 3 months from the close of escrow to connect your system... So they plan to wait the whole 3 months to submit one application, while the panels just sit there not producing electricity. Totally absurd. I purchased a new Lennar home that has Sunnova panels in November 2024. I have now been waiting for six months for my solar to be activated. Whenever I call Sunnova to get a status update, they say they are waiting for approval from my utility company, SDG&E. I finally contacted SDG&E, and they are waiting on Sunnova to confirm which application to move forward with because they erroneously submitted two applications. I have had constant issued getting a hold of a Sunnova representative that knows what is going on. read more

I bought a home with panels and inverter installed by Sunnova. Not only was the installation not done correctly, but even after they sent a technician out to fix the issue, further issues persisted. I had to call them and emailed them no less than 15 times (opening over 10 "cases") with Sunnova. Each time they would wait a week or two before them closing the case saying, "the system is communicating and producing as expected". I finally gave up and contacted Enphase (the company that makes the inverter) who confirmed my system was not installed properly. Only after Enphase emailing Sunnova directly did Sunnova accept that there were problems with my installation and agreed to send someone out to fix the issue. 3rd Update: Please read my previous reviews for the full story. It has now been 149 days since I first notified Sunnova that my solar panels were not functioning correctly. My case manager no longer responds to my emails or picks up my phone calls. [BE AWARE] Sunnova had 400+ reviews removed from Google overnight (9/12-9/13) after 5-star reviews were being submitted to Sunnova every few minutes. Please review their BBB Rating and Yelp Rating (images attached) before working with this company. I believe that Sunnova has breached my contract as Sunnova has failed to perform a material obligation set forth in our contract, which is to maintain the PV System in good operating condition. I have filed a report with the Texas State Attorney General and I recommend any other Yelp reviewers who are going through a similar experience to please do the same so we can get more eyes on this company. To say this company is shady would be an understatement. I've had non working panels on my roof for 3+ years and no one has been responsive to try and help me. They were quick to install them but never switched them on. They keep kicking the can down the road in hopes I just give up. It's because they know they made mistakes and won't fix them. I keep calling for updates and they say that they need to hear from the supervisors. Each of my case owners mysteriously get reassigned, laid off, or moved to a different position. So we purchased a new home in CA and they came with Sunnova solar panels. We had a minor/annoying problem at the beginning but it was resolved after a few back and forth. Had those for a few months. Had another issue. We called customer service and they were able to send someone to see what was going on fairly quickly. When we were ready to add more panels and get batteries installed we contacted them to see what deals they had and also since we wanted to stay with the same company to make things easier on us. Person who helped us get a quote was really nice and helpful. Kept in touch with us here and there while we were doing the contract. With that experience we thought we made a good choice sticking with Sunnova for solar. WE WERE WRONG! Here's a timeline of how things have gone: April - sign contract. They state it could take 3-4 months to get them installed. Late June: We get the call that we can get them installed. Technician comes and get the new solar panels installed. 2 weeks later: Get the call that electricians can get batteries and new solar panels connected. They come following week. They mention it's going to be a 2 day job, but they didn't get it done in 2 days. Which brings me to now. Mid September. Weeks trying to reach someone at Sunnova who can help. Trying to reach the electrician company to come finish the job. And no response from the electricians. Getting passed over from department to department at Sunnova. We currently have holes in our garage that still need to get patched up. Electricians haven't finished the job. New panels have been installed since late June and not even functioning. My husband and I are frustrated with this whole process. No communication by either company. It's extremely ridiculous. We wish we would have gone with another company at this point. read more

Run AWAY! Do not do business with Sunnova. I purchased my house May of 2024. The panels were on the house at that time. We had to assume the PPA as written if we wanted this house. Fast forward to September 2025. My roof starts leaking. Water has soaked my dry wall. The ceiling is falling apart. The plywood on the roof under the panels is soggy and spongy. It is a mess. So I reach out to Sunnova and get a case opened. The case is approved and I was sent a link to schedule service. I click on the link to make the appointment and none are available and I'm instructed to call them. I call them and I speak to someone who promises this has been escalated and I will get a call back same day. So I wait, and wait, and wait, and hear nothing. Several days go by and still nothing. So I try again. Exact same result. I do this for a month. A rainy month in New England with winter coming. Still nothing. I finally get someone to tell me they've rejected my case because of an inspection they did in June of 2023 that found a leaky skylight. No one has verified that water intrusion is in the same place. No one knows whether or not they skylight was repaired. No one seems to be able to process that the June 2023 inspection really isn't relevant since I wasn't the owner then and had zero knowledge of the issue. The whole time water is still intruding in to my house. I am then told that I need a REPUTABLE ROOFER to come out and look at it, which I had already done which is how I knew it was the panels not the skylight. So I send them documentation, multiple times, and they can't find and they CAN'T find it. So at this point I'm resigned to just paying a roofer myself because Sunnova is bankrupt, I want to stop the water damage, and WINTER IS COMING. This means I need them to come out to take the panels off and store them while the roof is replaced. So I again call and chat and call and chat. No one can tell me when, where, or how to get the removal started, or scheduled, or the cost. I am completely at a loss. I have invested so many hours in to this project and I am no farther along than I was a month ago. The water damage keeps accruing and Sunnova won't help. The company that bought them, SunStrong, of course won't help. I don't have words. I would give them zero stars if I could. Update: the company purchasing Sunnova reached out to me and after much more time and back and forth has now informed need me I need to pay to fix my own roof, despite what my contract says, then try to get my money back from the bankruptcy settlement (which the claim period is now closed) and they still won't send someone to take the panels off because no appointments are available and i cannot use an outside vendor without their express written consent. I've never written a review before, so I'll start with that. This "company" is egregiously negligent with their customer service practices. I mean BAD. Literally from the first phone call with this company, they have been a nightmare. I had to use this company because the previous owner of my house used Sunnova and we had to transfer the solar into our name. If you are looking to buy a house with sunnova and you need to transfer it, expect AT LEAST 25-30 days for it to transfer. We have been working with them for almost 60 days now and got an email from this morning saying the solar account was finally transferred into our name, go to login, they still have the old owners email as the system owner... now I need to call AGAIN and be put on hold for another 20-30 min to fix another mistake that the simply could fix if they actually payed attention to what they were doing. Beginning of Aug 2024: Phone call 1: setting up our account to do the transfer - messed up our email up after spelling it phonetically. Phone call 2: asking where the transfer paper work is. They spelled our name wrong. They fixed it. Phone call 3: they messed up our actual names on our paperwork, it would take 5-10 days for them to fix our names. Phone call 4: us: where is the paperwork? Sunnova: Maybe 5 more day. Phone call 5: (trying to close on our house) us: where is the transfer paperwork? Sunnova: You'll have it soon... Email comes in: transfer paper needs to be signed by both parties... oh look, our NAMES ARE SPELLED WRONG AGAIN! Phone call 6: 5-10 days to fix the paperwork... Phone call 7: Finally, the transfer paperwork has been signed. We can close on our house. Email to them: our escrow company sends deed so transfer can be complete Phone call 8: us: have you received the deed? No, please resend it. Ok no problem. Email to them: us: deed sent Phone call 9: sunnova: can you send us the deed (this was 2 weeks later)... us: already been sent to you twice. But here you go again. Email from them: a week later: can you please send us the deed? Us: are you kidding me? FOUR TIMES? Wtf... man. Email from them: account has been transferred please use the system ID provided to set up / register your account Today (end of Sep 2024): try to login using the system ID - oh look, ITS STILL IN THE OLD OWNERS NAME. I recently purchased our and closed on July 5, 2022. The initial transfer agreement was signed June 2, 2022. Sunnova then lost or misplaced our documents and we had to sign the transfer agreement again on July 13, 2022. I called the customer service line on July 28, 2022 to get a status on the transfer. They reported that they did not receive a copy of the deed to prove that I owned the home. Even though the deed was originally sent on July 6, 2022. The escrow company again sent the July 28, 2022. Since that date I have been calling repeatedly asking when the transfer will be done. I've been told it's being reviewed by their technical support team since July 28th.
