We signed up our son for 10 private swim lessons. The first lesson he cried really hard. The teacher did everything she could to help calm him down...play with toys, show him the prizes, and blow bubbles. He is 3 and was not having any of it. I called the office and Shelley told us young students usually are upset until the end of their third lesson. He kept crying and screaming into his 5th lesson. I called the office again and this time talked to the owner, Darla. She was very helpful in trying to figure out the best fix for my little screamer. She recommended to change the time of day (maybe he was tired after preschool). I could only do evenings because of work . She recommend we try Saturday mornings. We switched to Saturdays and it required us to change teachers. She was very concerned that we got our monies worth and offered a free lesson to get use to the new teacher. We couldn't believe the difference! Miss Amy was the Saturday teacher. She had all the same toys that the previous teacher had but she was more upbeat and excited. My son liked her right away. I don't know if it was the teacher change or that he wasn't so tired after school but whatever it was, he started to progress and became more workable with the teacher. I was impressed with how the management handled my frustration and they had experience about what the problem could possibly be. He was able to save himself after the 12 lessons but was not able to swim independently. My son has muscular weakness on his left side and Miss amy really focused on adjusting to help him. When we signed up for another 10 Miss Amy was full. We were frustrated that she didn't have availability for us so we tried the late afternoon Saturday teacher, Miss Katie. She was lovely, my son liked her the most. In 5 lessons he was able to do all the goals they promised and started working on strokes with the remaining lessons. The teachers and management really impressed me with our difficult swimmer and our difficult availability. We took lessons at the hotel pool location. Most of the time we had the pool to ourselves. They only do one lesson at a time, which is nice. We would see hotel guest swimming and for the most part, it wasn't a big deal. One day the hotel had a large group and they were splashing wildly and being crazy. I was impressed with how Miss Katie handles the disruption. She made it fun for my son and said "This is what it's like at a pool party! You have to know how to swim when it's wavy and crazy". That made me feel better because she was right, most of the time pool parties are crazy. That only happened once. Miss Katie told the owner the pool was crowded and she called Us and offered a free lesson. Again, I was impressed with how much the owner cared about our experience. The hotel pool is perfectly warm at 90 degrees. The hotel pool is clean and the staff is friendly. They do not allow us to use the hotel towels but one day we forgot ours and they were happy to let us use one of theirs. The teachers have a new student every 30'min so you can not be late or else you lose that time. You have to cancel by 8:30am or else you lose your lesson. Make ups are offered on Saturdays only with a make up instructor. We never had to cancel a lesson so not sure how that works. I'm happy with our experience and feel like this school was a good fit for us. They worked with us with our issues and I heard nightmares from friends about other schools. Top rate service and top quality of teaching method . If someone ever has a complaint I recommend calling the office right away because they truly want to make you happy. So many things to say about this school. 1. The scheduling is very accomdating. The office staff is friendly and ready to please you. 2. The location is clean and private. It's super warm and open year round. 3. The teachers are trained in the I Can Save Myself learn to swim method. My kids had two different teachers and I liked the consistency of their teaching. They train their teachers very well. One of our teachers were new and one had been there for a few years and you couldn't tell the difference. Both were great and I can tell they pay attention to detail during training. Theynteach them to swim, how to save themselves, and doing back floats. My kids could do them all but we will enroll again this summer to make sure it sticks. Our kids are 3 and 5. 4. The kids loved the toys, bubbles and prizes at the end of each lesson. They would offer an extra price is they tried something they found hard. 5. We recommend Miss Ami and Miss Emily, very reliable girls and you could tell they loved their students. 6. They offer lessons for new swimmers or strokes for better swimmers. I also noticed they teach adults and was impressed with an adult lesson I observed. 7. I absolutely love their life guard services for private parties . Makes all the moms at my parties happy. We used them 3 times. Life guard Ruthie came twice and Jacob came Once. They were both on time and attentive. 8. The owner Darla care a lot about your experience. I had a friend who didn't connect with their teacher. Darla was right on it and was able to fix my friends problem with a new teacher they connected better with. 9. The make up policy is a bit annoying. 2 cancelations per 10 pack and make ups are on Saturdays only with a make up teacher . If you know in advance it helps plan accordingly. 10. They offer home lessons for no additional costs which is really great! We take in winter and in summer. I like the convenience at my home and where my kids are most likely to fall into the pool. We wasted all last summer with another swim school so we decided to try Bullfrog. We purchased a 20 pack of 30 minute lessons and split them between my 2 year old and 4 year old. We had Miss Amy and took at the indoor pool. Miss Amy has a real gift working with fearful kids. Both kids cried the first lesson, but honestly, I don't think it had anything to do with lessons, just more being toddlers. My 4 year old was fine the second lesson. My 2 year old screamed for 3 lessons straight, but again, I don't think it had anything to do with the water or Miss Amy. Miss Amy was very assuring to my kids and to me. By the 10th lesson my 4 year old could swim taking breaths independently, back float, and jumped in the pool with his clothes on and showed he could save himself if he fell in. My two year old could swim as far as she could hold her breath, but was not able to take a breath by herself. She could back float. She was able to jump in the pool and save herself, but was unable to do it when she tried with clothes. We will give the 2 year old more lessons this summer. The pool was clean and warm, perfect for winter lessons. It was at a hotel but we never saw a hotel guest in the pool. They only do 1 lesson in the pool at a time, so one child would play in the hot tub while they other child took. We had to cancel a lesson. Make up lessons are scheduled on Saturdays only with a different teacher. We had Miss Eden and liked her too. All the teachers are trained teaching the same method, using the same toys. I have 4 year old twin boys. They had Miss Nicole. One of them did not like swimming and one of them did. We shared 10 (30 min) lessons and they did not charge extra for the second child. So at the start we split 15 for one and 15 for the other which worked well because one was crying a lot. Once the resistant one calmed down we merged to share the full 30 min lesson. Miss Nicole pushed my crying son appropriately. I'm thankful the lessons weren't wasted. She managed to get my son happy and willing to participate by the 3rd lesson. I did call the swim office to suggest maybe we do private lessons for each and not share but they suggested we wait until after the 3rd lesson and they were right. Miss Nicole got both boys to be able to jump in the pool with their clothes on show they can save themselves. They both can swim the long length of the pool. She also worked on back float every lesson but both struggle to do that on their own. I like that she gave them a prize each lesson because she used that as leverage which helped a lot. One day Miss Nicole had car problems and couldn't get to the pool in time for our lesson but the swim office was really apologetic and gave us a free lesson. I feel like this company really cared what I thought about them and Miss Nicole really cared for my boys and also called to apologize. We took 10 lessons, 2x a week. Very happy! We just finished another great year at Bullfrog Swim School with our youngest child, 2 years old. At first she HATED LESSONS, but thankfully she had a teacher who kept a smile on her face and stayed positive. Just as her teacher said, she stopped crying towards the end of her third lesson. She learned to jump in the pool and save herself. She can now float on her back. She can swim pretty far but will need to take some more this summer to learn how to take a breath, which her teacher told us was common for students era under 2 years old. She absolutely LOVED her teacher and keeps asking to go back to swim lessons. I am beyond grateful she can save herself if she were to fall in the pool. The staff is the most understanding, happy, kind people.....totally organized with scheduling and having to do make up lessons. They get back to you very fast. The fact that they text is THE BEST. They have the cutest little snack shack for treats and a cute little mascot Sir Fearless Frog. Bullfrog taught both my girls to swim at the ages of 3 and 4. I saw the other post about how they never answer the phone. I think that's because they are always in the pool. It's my opinion that the owner REALLY cares about the kids (and adult students). If a customer isn't happy, she would want to know and would always do her best to make it right. As a busy mom and self proclaimed persnickety customer, I believe customers have a responsibility to speak up when they are not happy with services or products. It does no one any good to wait until after the fact and then complain. Give the business a chance to make you happy. I was very happy with our experiences with Bullfrog. I'm not quick to make referrals because I think it's often best for consumers to do their own homework before throwing down their hard earned cash. I have sent all my grandchildren to Bullfrog Swim School this past year. Some of them took at their homes and some went to the indoor pool they have. They all had different teachers. I just want to praise this swim school because every teacher we had was warm and friendly and GOT IT DONE! I wasted so much time at another place in Clovis and my kids got NOWHERE! I love their pool because it was warm and they only did one lesson in the pool at a time. Sometimes there were hotel guest, but my kids liked seeing other people swim, it made it fun. All 4 grandkids are able to save themselves if fell into my pool now. What a relief. Bullfrog Swim School taught my 4 year old daughter had to swim. I like that because the lessons are private they worked around my schedule. I work between LA and Fresno and my schedule was very hectic and changed a lot. I picked the days and times that worked best for me. I appreciate that they let me cancel in the morning and reschedule two times. They are very flexible with policies and I appreciate that. I just wanted to say thank you because it's rare you find a business that is understanding of parent's last minute needs. I have been so pleased with our experience at Bullfrog. More than please, ecstatic! We took 10 thirty minute private lessons. The teacher worked on 3 things (swimming, backfloating, how to save yourself if they fell in the pool). My daughter can do all 3 by the 10th lesson. The last lesson she jumped in with her jeans and sweatshirt on and showed us she could save herself if she fell in the pool. I'm very pleased that this school accomplished EXACTLY what they said they would. The priZes that they hand out after the lessons helped out a lot during the first few lessons when she would cry. Bullfrog Swim School has taught all three of my children how to swim. They have an indoor pool so now my children are ready to swim and it isn't even summer yet! The teacher gave a prize to the kids at the end of each lesson. I picked Bullfrog Swim School because they were the most affordable, private swim lessons I could find. They let two of my kids share a class and did not charge me extra. They have no registration fees. The quality of swim instruction and the affordable rates makes this school perfect! The whole focus of the lessons are to teach students how to save themselves if they ever fell in the pool. My son fell in the pool on Sunday and I just have to give a big THANK YOU to Bullfrog Swim School because he saved himself! We were planting flowers in the yard and left the gate open while we were working. We went inside for a SECOND when suddenly my 3 year old son came running in crying. He was soaked. Bullfrog Swim School was amazing! My 4-year-old daughter truly excelled with swim lessons this summer. Bullfrog uses a unique combination of songs and stories to teach the importance of saving yourself if you fall in the pool, this was exactly what my daughter needed. I have been very pleased with our 10 swim lessons for my 4 year old.
