The process was pretty straight forward as we had already made our reservations online. (They do accept walk ins pending kayak availability.) We checked in smoothly and had a quick explanation of the route and the water conditions. There's a shop with various sundries such as sandals, hats, sunscreen, waterproof bags, etc. You walk down to the water to get life jackets and the kayaks after checking in. They pushed us off into the water and away we went. I won't say too much about the kayaking other than the water is pretty shallow for the majority of the route and there's a small beach across from Turnip Rock. I would rent from here again, although I would buy a waterproof backpack from them since my stuff got drenched! Thankfully, I had brought a change of clothes and I was able to change in their restrooms (unisex single room room x2).

We rented a randem kayak on a random summer weekday and had an awesome time on the 12 mile (4 hr)…read morepaddle. I recommend reservations ahead of time to make it easier, and you need to start the 4 hr trip before 11am. Bring some beach shoes and a hat - the sun gets hot at times, but the water is perfect for a swim. The beach shoes are helpful walking on the river bottom. Our tandem kayak was pretty stable, had lots of room for two people and a soft sided cooler. Bring a water proof bag or at least a zip lock bag to put your cell phone in. The first 3.5 hours of the trip is awesome - lots of quiet paddling, easy current and frequent sightings of wildlife. The last 30 minutes is a straight up paddle in an urban environment - a fair amount of work, not much current and can be windy in spots. Overall, great trip. Would recommend

We went canoeing one day and hung out at camp the rest of the time. Was worried it would be noisy with all the buses and people, but it was not loud at all. The owners are great people and just want everyone to have a great time! Highly recommend. Trailer house had a bathroom with no shower, but showers are just a few feet away. It had 2 bedrooms, 1 with a bunk bed, full on bottom, twin on top. The other room had 2 twin bunk beds. Couches were comfy if someone had to sleep on it.

I said I didn't really need a new shirt in general, just wanted something cooler than the top I had on. The new owner said, "Well, in that case, I just put some cute new tops on the clearance rack." So thoughtful! She even came over to help me find ones in my size and pointed out the best deals. I bought a soft, pretty blue Columbia tank top that I've ended up wearing all the time.
