I went here for a quick day hike after kayaking to Turnip Rock. There's actually two trailheads-…read moreone official one with campgrounds and bathrooms, and one with a bridge over the river. I parked at the trailhead with the bridge, which does not have any amenities. If you're nervous about trying to find it, it's right next to the Dark Sky Lodge and Tavern so you can plug that into your navigation system. It's also well marked with a small gravel lot. When I went, the trailhead lot was full so I parked at a grassy lot across the street. The trail runs though the beach and forest ecosystem and it's pretty well maintained and well marked. It's impossible to get lost. As you go near the beach there's plenty of offshoot trails leading to the beach. Just watch out for ticks!

It wouldn't just because it wasn't my ideal type of set up, doesn't mean I'm going to one star a joint. Let's start shall we. Pros: Very clean, very quiet, close to the water, there's a dock to launch a boat, kayaks or paddleboards, a light house and it's an actual park. The facilities are well maintained. Showers are dialed in the to the perfect amount of heat. Firewood is well stocked every night as well. Cons: It's very open, no trees so it's excruciatingly hot in the afternoon, the rustic sites are right next to a canal which is a bit insulting. Rustic sites are also by bright road lamps, which is a bit bright specially when sleeping under opaque tents. The spigot for water felt like it was in one of the sites, so it felt like you were pretty much walking into someone's space when you're fetching drinking water or cleaning your food eating equipment. A friend of our brung a pop-up camper, so we got to get the best of both worlds. This camp area is more for "Glampers" not real campers. Don't get me wrong, we totally had a pretty good time here. Yes we had a real good time here, but it just doesn't quite check all the boxes. Strong suggestions on the trees, I would've loved to hang my hammock somewhere. There is a museum that can normally be toured and the lighthouse itself. The parking lot is right next to the lighthouse so there isn't much walking involved. It's also wheelchair accessible by ramp. Unlike some lighthouses that are on a pier this one is right on the shore. It is very well keep from the outside and there are lots of signs to read about the history of the lighthouse. I found a beach to sit on by the water, which was nice. I would stop here again if visiting this area. Easy in and out, parking, and walking.

The beach is fairly small due to high lake levels. You can find a plethora of perfect skipping rocks on the shoreline to pass the time. If fishing is your thing, you can fish from the shoreline, the wooden pier or the land between the park and the marina. Bathrooms were nearby and well maintained.

The course was a little challenging but very well maintained. The waterfalls were very pretty. Everything was clean. They also have a game room and ice cream shop. We had a small cup of ice cream for $4 and it was enough for the two of us to split.

They were really easy to find while driving down the road, and they also have a nice large parking lot, and clean bathroom facilities available. Also, the staff was fantastic and friendly, they made us feel really welcomed. Unfortunately it was raining when we first arrived, so we played some games before grabbing some ice cream snacks. My youngest was thrilled that they even had non-dairy ice cream options, she feels so special when places are considerate of those with allergies. They had a nice outdoor seating area, with half being under a roof so we didn't get rained on. After eating, the weather had cleared, so we began our putt putt adventure. The greens, and surrounding areas, were all really well maintained. We genuinely had a lot of fun, and we will definitely make another visit when back in town.
