Several patio tables with umbrellas and patio chairs to lounge in, along with a line of stools at the edge of the rooftop overlooking the street for prime rooftop viewing appreciation. Loved it!

There was a public restroom, grills, a small parking lot, and a couple paths leading down to a beautiful, clean, soft, sandy beach. That's it. The park is dog friendly and does not allow alcohol/glass on the beach. The water was nice, a little stirred up when we were there, but clean with very few rocks around tripping you up. It also stayed rather shallow, quite a distance out, for wading and swimming. Fantastic sunset views. Great experience. We will definitely be back.

The spaces were close together and there were lot of flies everywhere. There was a poop smell throughout the campground and the beach. With the campsites being so close together you could hear everyone "yelling at their kids" or partying until 2:00 AM. The bathrooms had dirty floors and the shower was gross. The beach was a nice short walk just across the bridge and to the other side of the road. There were lots of campers and many of them had lights on at night or hung lights outside their camper which created light pollution so you could not see the stars. Maybe you want to hang out with a bunch of strangers and listen to their business or their partying until the wee hours of the morning. If that sounds like fun then you should definitely come here. If you came for an outdoor experience, wanted to see the stars or hear nature then I would avoid this campground.

And while it might not seem like much while you are walking DOWN them, in this antigravity paradox just remember, what goes down must also come back up--unless you plan on sleeping down there. Once you've descended the 300 stairs (actually, even on the way down), the views are absolutely spectacular. The setting is tranquil and relaxing, and there are several placards along the way which tell the story of the Springs and describe so many interesting aspects of this Huron National Forest site. Feel free to take your time meandering about in the shade of the canopied forest--for your looming ascent will have you longing for that serene setting. Once you've read all the informational signs and committed the gorgeous views to memory (or at least snapped some memorable phots thereof), its time to climb. Yep, those same 300 stairs that seemed so innocent on your decent now become your nemesis. In the mid summer heat, you also gain a deep appreciation for the perspiration-evoking power of Michigan's humidity. And, for those ultra-tough cross fit types out there that may scoff at those panting, wheezing, sweating souls such as, perhaps, me, maybe you should attack the 300 stairs Rocky Balboa style and enjoy yourself a victory dance at the top (after which, if you are feeling a little humanitarian urge, you could send down a tow rope or some other means of pulling my kind up the 186 stairs I still need to climb).

I'm glad that I found this place in Port Austin! I love horseback riding, and my son had never…read morebeen, so we headed to the farm. No reservations are needed, so you may have to wait a little, but the experience is worth the wait. It is $25 per adult for an approximately hour long guided group ride through a beautiful trail. It winds around a creek that you will cross twice on horseback, which I thought was really cool. Bring cash as they do not accept cards, and there's no ATM on site. I found this out the hard way. But if you do forget, there's an ATM about a mile north at a gas station. This is a beautiful farm, and the horses are well cared for. The staff is friendly and helpful. The old dude who runs the farm was awesome - picture a crusty dude that doesn't take any sh*t, knows his stuff, and has a wicked sense of humor. He sizes up each rider based on their experience and physical size/capabilities, and chooses the right horse for you - out of about 45 horses. He knows what he's doing. My son, a first time rider, was saddled up on a gentle mare named Goldie, while I was given a huge, gorgeous Morgan stallion named Denver as my mount. It became clear immediately that Denver was one of the "alpha males" in the stable, because he positioned himself - and me - at the front of the pack of riders. He was a joy to ride, but he could also be too much for an inexperienced rider. Again, the owner knows his horses - and that's why it's important to be honest when they ask you about your experience. Don't be ashamed to say that you're inexperienced if that's the case, because you want to be safe and have a fun time. I just wish that I could have put Denver through his paces at full gallop, but that's not allowed. You are in a group - ours was rather large, maybe 30 riders - following the guide mostly single file through the trail. There is also a guide at the back of the pack, too. The guides do provide helpful and important information during the ride, which I appreciated even as an experienced - but rusty - rider. If you have little kids, they also offer pony rides for $5, and the ponies are adorable! If you're looking for a fun adventure in Port Austin away from the beach, this is the place.

We rented a tandem kayak for a couple of hours and they drive down where you follow them to the…read moremarina to launch you (the rental building is directly across from the county park). The kayaks are very basic- no adjustable foot pegs, no place for storage and the backs are very stiff. From the marina you can paddle down the river or out to the lake. They didn't show us a map until we were about to launch and then the map got soaked because there was a truck getting ready to back a boat in so they quickly shoved us out into very stinky water!! The regular kayaks are $35 an hour and the tandem's are $50 an hour. Both require a minimum of 2 hours. They forgot to tell us that in one area of the River the bacteria was so thick that we could hardly paddle so we turned around. When we came back, we told them about it and they said oh yeah, we forgot to tell you about that. It goes away when it rains!!! it's weird that that guy told us the reason that area was so mucky was because they need rain. We just had rain yesterday. I guess it wasn't enough We had fun after all and the boaters passing by are very friendly!!
