    I picked up a pound of their smoked brisket. It was easily 50% fat. Probably won't go back.

    Great place meat counter and Buffet are excellent very hospitable staff and if you are a first-time customer they give you free meat!

    I shop at Harding's often since it is a neighborhood business for me. A woman waited on me today…read morethat I have never seen before, although she informed me later on the telephone, that she is a manager... and if so, they must be scraping the bottle of the barrel for managers at Harding's. I checked out at the little aisle with the lottery tickets and I kept looking for all of my packages and she told me I had them all so I left. The service was very sketchy ... no smiles, no how are you today, etc. This business is normally a very chatty friendly place. I got home, unpacked my groceries, and I was missing a bag that had six pouches of cat food that is very hard to find, so I was happy to find it on the shelf, since the only thing our old cat will eat. I checked in the car and my husband made another trip out and checked the car. There was no package on the floor in the garage, so I called the store very nicely and said that I was missing this package and instead of asking for my name and number so that if someone turned it in it could be returned to me, the woman said, well I know I packed them because I threw the box away... and I agreed, and said I saw that too ...nshe said I don't have the package and hung up. A couple hours later I called back and said that I think I should speak to a manager and she said she is one.. so I told her that as a manager she should have taken my phone number in case someone turned in the package and she said "no one turned anything in maam" and hung up again. She could have at least said she was sorry that I missed my package, or that she would keep an eye out for it ... instead, she was just short and rude. I can't say that I will never go back in the store because they're local and they have wonderful meat, but I can say that I would stand in a line a mile long, before I would have this person wait on me again??? it's too bad if an employee, especially a manager, is allowed to treat regular customers so rudely and abruptly. Very disappointed. By the way, the packets are a dollar a piece, so I lost a $6 bag, which to me is kind of a big deal.

    Long time customers, my wife actually worked for Schwans back in the 80's, one of only three female…read moredrivers in the nation at the time. My comments here are not made lightly. The company has been in a slow death spiral for the last 5yrs or better. Nothing they sell is unique anymore, most of their products can be found for sale listed under various other brand names, and cheaper, at Gordon's Food Service and Costco. They do apparently still make their own ice cream, but the quality of that is average at best, nowhere near a Ben/Jerry's yet the cost is the same.  Serving sizes of all their products have been shriveling up for years, with cost remaining fixed or even increasing. We first noticed this with their ice cream goods, followed by sides and entrees, then burgers, and on and on. Meat products seem to be the worst affected. Our local depot manager (Three Rivers), typically, never ordered more than a few (if any) of the special holiday products, like the fancy ice cream tins, pies and pumpkin rolls, the result being that despite pre-ordering those products were seldom available in our area. The Christmas flyer was always a letdown. Happy Holidays y'all! The delivery service was hit and miss at best, largely dependent on an aged fleet of trucks, and whatever commission pay scheme the drivers had to work with to earn a living wage. Our last driver only showed up about 60% of the time, and had been MIA for months before we dropped the service. No apology or explanation was ever given for the lapses but coincidentally they lined up perfectly to when out-of-state residents started popping up at their local summer homes. Communications were horrid, and God forbid you ever complained or asked about the no-call/no-show missed service days. After one such polite inquiry the depot manager responded with a snotty text telling us all their trucks were broke down and to stop bothering them or they'd cancel our service. Their hiring practices were severely lacking judging by some of the drivers that have shown up. Rude/condescending, liars, one guy who constantly over-charged us on stuff, a couple of failed-to-launch/lived in mom's basement dudes, another guy who rode around with a therapy dog that he'd let out to do his business in our yard (and then handle our food), and other characters. There were a few decent ones along the way but they never stayed with the company long. Customer service has been farmed out to some third party outfit and is the worst. Most of the reps are clueless or rude and there is never any follow-through to resolve problems. Unless you like squandering tons of cash on mediocre food that may or may not ever make it to your house, avoid!!! It's just not worth the hassle. F-

At first when I lived in Grand Rapids they…read morewere AMAZING always on time, food we got was good quality...As a mom of many kids, we have a big family and spend literally HUNDREDS each delivery. I've never spent less than $200. The last order I made in Grand Rapids they rescheduled EVERY delivery for consecutive 3 months straight til I deleted my order and just gave up. I tried again. I live in Benton Harbor now, placed an order, was to come today between 2pm and 5pm...THEY NEVER CAME. Yet again. I contact customer care and they say they'll reschedule the delivery for 4 days from now....I'm over ever trying to order from them again. It is exactly what happened last time...4 days became 7 days, then another 7 and on and on for months....Nope I'll just go shopping at the regular grocery store for all that nonsense.
