He went through a couple of quick fixes on the phone which could save us some money. I told him we've done that already and we need an electrician to diagnose and fix the problem. He said it'll cost $335 to show up and if he is here over 2hrs, it will be an extra $169/hr. I said okay. Since he is highly rated, I didn't bother calling other electricians for more quotes. I normally get at least 3 then compare. Then he said his appts are 3wks away but has a cancellation for Saturday (today) at 11am. So I said sure and gave him our address and told him to call us when he's here cuz we have to buzz him in the security gate. He said our address is 5mins from his house so no problem. Long story short. He never showed up, no call -nothing! Wasted our time waiting. It is our rental property so I had to drive in before the appt, waited an hour after the appt then left. He may not have wanted to take the job cuz I got the sense that he wasn't enthused and quoted us his price for showing up. Or... he may have forgotten about the appt. Either way, he is the owner and there is no excuse for poor business practice. And for wasting my time I gave him one star since I can't give zero.

Zalman secured the necessary permit from Contra Costa County and followed the project through till the county signed off on a final inspection. The cost of the job came in as estimated, and the crew completed the work with no loose ends within the week they said the project would take. After the wiring was done Berkeley Electric patched our walls and thoroughly cleaned up. Zalman also suggested some upgrades we had not considered earlier. One, for example, was adding an electric car charger to the garage wiring. Another was installing safety lights, which we did. We cannot recommend Berkeley Electric highly enough.
