Five grain toast and pumpkin soup.
    Zachary N.

The soups are great, especially when you sub out the boring white bread with their very yum five grain toast. Also appreciated: that they use a real salmon fillet on Eggs Benedict rather than lazy lox (though their hollandaise sauce could be more homemade tasting). The coffee is consistently good, as long as you get it extra strong: triple shot Americanos, etc. (the non-modified coffees tend to be a bit weaker than coffee freaks like me prefer, but that's because they're minding local preferences). Wait staff is always friendly and communal and show extra understanding when you're in a bind--it's not just "emotional labour" as usual but a sense of kith that's at play here. The city views out the window are calming, and the free WiFi and laptop plug in the corner make the place great for prolonged writing. In sum: they really put the "bungalo" into the café of "bungalo cafe." Ta. My only regret: that they're not open later.

I like that they do half size portions for smaller appetites and that you can choose between an outside covered atmosphere or inside the bungalow.

Always vote highly for a decent coffee place, such as woodside Cafe…read more It is really a surprising place to find in this suburb. I was this close to give up for a cup of coffee then Woodside was just by my side. Simplicity, stylish, neat. It is the kind of Cafe that you might have been to somewhere in the world, however, it possesses its own character for a kiwi touch, like bottles of flowers on each table, the Metro magazine put on the desk, the enthusiastic waitress who give right advice on your dessert paring the coffee. And of course, the perfect coffee! The latte coffee came in right warm temperature, great espresso shot with warm milk and froth ratio, it was so much soothing for a sip after a windy day walking. We followed the waitress advice ordering the ginger slice with sunflower seeds, not too sweet and a bit crunchiness really stranded out for its taste. Gluten free food is another highlight for this little cute Cafe. In Auckland and even in New Zealand, it is more and more handy for people to choose, which is a good sign of the food industry. Keep on with your attitude!

I really enjoyed my visit to Villa Cafe for brunch with a friend…read more I was accompanied by my baby, and her little three year old, and there was enough seating to feel comfortable with lots of toys nearby for the kids to distract themselves with. The counter is up one level from the main seating floor- and this is where you order from: they have a blackboard menu or counter ready made food. All well presented and with a good range. Lovely nice couple who own and work at the cafe, all feels quite laid back. You can sit outdoors also on a covered wooden deck in the warmer season which is great. Villa Cafe prepare coffee as it should be, and homemade cooking to warm the soul.

A previous review below got me hankering for it. Was not dissapointed. Even though they were busy the staff were very friendly and attentive and the food made it out in lighting quick time! Hash browns looked hand made with great texture, thickness and flavor. Egg was runny and was absorbed well into the 2 fluffy ciabatta pieces of bread. Bacon was crispy but not overcooked and there was enought to have a good chunk with every delicious fork full. If I had any gripe it was only a small one & was with the avocado. Was borderline raw but they can be hard to gauge especially when cooking en volume and under the gun so no points lost there. Will be back here for sure. The list on the menu deserves a good trial & if my first experiance is emulated I am sure this will be good eats!

Thankfully the new owners have kept things top notch. They did mix up the menu a little bit, but just offered a new range of great food. They have a regular $10 special salad for lunch, which is great value. In winter they offer a delicious kumara and bacon soup - perfect for a drizzly, cold winter's day. They use Allpress coffee and most of the baristas do a good job. I also try to keep my diet "paleo" so the paleo breakfast for $17 is a great way of having brunch but keeping healthy. Not quite as delicious as an Eggs Benedict, but much better for the waistline.

Truly indeed. you will be amazed that Rangitoto and sky tower is your brunch company to add more flavour to your dishes. Besides, the wooden texture on the ground floor, the sea wave inspired wall, those modern shape lamps hanging down to make a classic twist for the whole space. It is a walk-in-and-fall-in-love eatery. Well done! The surprise has just started. beautiful food serves from morning to dark. You will be amazed by the Brazilian Acai bowl, the egg Benedict(do not miss the burnt butter Hollandaise). Brunch has more options. Be prepared to fall for the house frozen yoghurt with waffles or a salad of prosciutto, goat cheese, sliced pear and walnuts with red wine vinaigrette. And also the colonel salmon gravlax with fluffy scrambled eggs, warm croissant and chive mascarpone cheese. This is so hearty and colourful. beetroot infused salmon pairs perfect with the egg, gives it a Nordic taste hint. lovely. The guy who brought our food was rude and arrogant, half of our meal was cold (after waiting for over 40 minutes for it), he implied that it was our fault we had to wait even longer because we sent the whole meal back to the kitchen instead of just the bits that were cold, and even tried to tell us that he's brought the meals as soon as they were ready.
