I had read this was a new hot spot in town and my husband and I decided to give it a try! We went…read morefor an early dinner and there was 1 other table seated. Our server was super sweet and attentive until we placed our orders. We never saw her again, no mention she was leaving for the day (I could see her inside on her cell phone and changed with a backpack). Our food was delivered and the other server didn't seem to notice (or care) that our water glasses were empty, as I found out that she too were on her way out of work. We didn't get water refills until the check came, in which is was a third server and then it took probably 2mins for her to run our card because she was busy setting tables and chatting with coworkers. The food here was amazing and filling- large portions, but the Mac n cheese was disappointing. I would give this 4 stars, but due to the fact that the servers are more interested in going home and chatting with coworkers than taking care of their guests (at one point we were the only table in the whole place and still couldn't get a water refill), this place is getting only 2 stars. It's got potential if it gets new staff.

As you can see with the photos, Dirty Laundry does not follow its namesake; it has a clean, crisp and hip interior and a pretty nice patio area. We had an awesome waitress that was more than obliging when we asked to charge our phones and requested a wifi code. We decided to go with the Smashed Avo. Stellar choice; eggs were cooked perfectly, chilli oil and hummus were both a nice and subtle touch. We also had the breakfast tacos. The salsa that was on the side was so tasty; we were bummed when it was all gone! For drinks, we had an espresso and mimosa and there were no complaints there. Both drinks were fresh. We got away from Dirty Laundry with 3 entrees, an espresso and mimosa for close to $40 USD. Not too shabby! Please, if you are on a cruise stop and don't want to travel far from the pier, check this place out. Overall: 5 Venue: 5 Service: 5 Food: 5 Drinks: 5 Price: $$

I arrived just before 3 pm, which is when they close for the day, and the cafe was empty except for the lovely couple who own and work in the cafe. I ordered my mocha and decided on a delicious looking date scone at the counter. The cafe was really immaculate and neat and with lots of sunshine streaming in, just the perfect place to spend the afternoon gazing out on the busy Rawene street in Birkenhead. My coffee was amazing, perfectly made with a real chocolate caffeine kick. I was well impressed with my afternoon coffee and will be back on my next library trip.

They do the standard coffee, tea, drinks, cakes as well as breakfast with specials such as eggs on toast with coffee - great value for money. They are a lovely friendly cafe and also have high chairs available if you wish to take your baby, there is also a convenient car park just next door. The lady who makes the food also takes a real pride in her food, she uses different shapped bread or cuts the bread in different ways and arranges it nicely on the plate. Oh and they also have some nice views from the cafe.

I chose to have the lemon and yoghurt bombe alaska that was fantastic. The right amount of sweetness and tartness. There was a bit of confusion that kind of spoiled our experience as we also ordered the passion fruit and peach chocolate bon bon and was only told after the dish arrived that the passion fruit and peach were only available as shards, which was eight dollars more. We would have appreciated the waitress explaining that some of the chocolates came as shards and the others as bon bons, so we felt like we were tricked into ordering something. The cookie dough macaron was good but didn't remind us of cookie dough, more of a chocolate macaron. We left wanting a lot more from our experience chocolate- and pastry-wise.

It has a crispy lemony coating over a frozen yogurt middle, finished off with stripes of meringue on the top. It all case together so well! The cookies and cream rocher was also very delicious. It was topped with edible gold, had a crunchy cookies and cream outer layer before you hit a velvety chocolate mousse later. Finally, the inside had bits of cookie. It sounds very sweet and sickly but was pleasantly well balanced. I wish they had a Milse where I'm from! Actually maybe not, or else I'd be so broke.
