What a pleasant surprise this place was! We booked online, then called to let them know that we'd be arriving extremely late (at 2 am). They were there to greet us and check-in was a breeze. While it may seem strange to point this out, you need to remember that Puerto Escondido is a relatively small beach town. They don't have large resorts with full service 24-hour accommodations.
In the downtown Playa Zicatela area, no hotel is on the beach (only bars/restaurants). Hotels are across the street. Still, if you get a beachfront bungalow, the views are amazing. And I think each bungalow has a patio too. Ours was very spacious, we loved waking up and watching the sunrise.
The rooms are not luxurious by any means. But the beds and linens are clean, the service is extremely friendly, and the rates are a great deal. The property has 2 pools, neither of which was ever too crowded. In fact, I rarely saw people use them. Mostly just families with kids.
I normally prefer to eat breakfast in the nearby community, but you want to take advantage of the complimentary breakfast here at the hotel. The menu has great options and the food is very good. I loved the huevos divorciados! The spicy red salsa was delicious!! I seriously ordered it every day in a row. If you like spicy, I recommend asking for a side of their spicy salsa roja (FYI - it's not the same one they use for their chilaquiles). They also offer fresh juices which are not included but totally worth the nominal cost of 40 pesos which is like $2. Obviously the orange juice is good, but I also loved the vampiro and the green juice. In addition, they have various aguas frescas each day too. I never ate there for lunch/dinner, but breakfast is totally worth it. And served until 11 am so no need to wake up early if you have a late night. ;)
I absolutely loved our stay here and cannot wait to return! read more
