This review is long overdue. Dr Bunker is by the far the worst Dr my wife has ever encountered in her life. Dr Bunker was administrating radioactive iodine to my wife who was going through thyroid cancer. Not knowing anything about thyroid cancer at the time, my wife asked if this cancer was serious and if she was going to live to which Dr Bunker responded, "You never know with these things". Then if that was not not bad enough, my wife called numerous times and left messages because she was getting sick and could not walk and Dr Bunker never once returned her call. By far, Dr Stephen R Bunker was a non empathetic prick. I hope no one else ever has to go through this with him. read more

Not sure how a LONG negative review on Dr. Bunker and staff can make it through and my first one didn't. Let's try this again. First of all, anyone that knows me knows all too well of the pain I experienced over the last four years. Not to mention the swelling and fatigue my legs went through. I had visited another vein doctor a year ago and did not feel at home. The other place had 1 gal running the whole office. I am not going to bash the other doc but I will state for the second time that doc Bunker and his team are great people. When I went in for my initial appt. I was looking for someone that could help me. Someone who was sincere. I appreciate the conversations and education that I received from Dr. Bunker and all of his staff. Dr. Bunker and staff are AWESOME. They took such good care of me and my poor legs. Now, my legs are as good as new! No more pain, fatigue or snake like veins sticking out. I was in bad shape when I went in for my consultation. I needed treatment for medical reasons and not cosmetic. They did a wonderful job making me FEEL at home and my legs feel AWESOME too! Dr. Bunker and his staff are the best. I have had ambulatory phlebotomies which are very painful with no ultrasound. Dr. Bunker's office performs ultrasounds to locate the location of the diseased veins and treats them with procedures that are relatively not painful. I would recommend this place to anyone who has achiness and heaviness in their legs. Also they have worked with my insurance which they don't have to do. Whoever wrote a negative review of Dr. Bunker and his staff is totally wrong and should have the courage to voice their issues to Dr. Bunker for he is the type of person who is willing to listen. read more

Dr Bunker and his staff were very professional. His staff were young people yet still friendly and personable. Dr Bunker is also very personable. The procedures were explained to me with depth so I had less apprehensions. He may have been training someone to do the scannings, but he was there overlooking and explaining, as needed, what the person in training was looking at and guidance. Essentially, he found the bad or defective valves in my leg veins, sealed them and has the blood find an alternate route. My legs and feet swelled up afterwards, with some firm places where the veins were sealed. Swelling went down, as expected, within two weeks to completely down in four weeks. I did feel that he was providing the wrong size compression stockings (woman's large), and this was confirmed by The Comfort Store who provided me with the correct size (men's large) and he was grateful for the feedback. I also got some compression shorts from a sports store to keep the socks from drifting down. That worked well. Now my legs and feet are no longer swollen, the varicose veins are disappearing, and my neuropathy has become less painful. My podiatrist, one of the building managers, said my feet look great. He let me know my new shoe size is 11D, wereas before I had to wear 11.5 E, at least. There were a few problems with the building's wiring, but I don't that has anything to do with his practice, and the wiring was being addressed by the building management on my week later follow up appointment. I have told others about Dr Bunkers practice and will continue to refer others to him. read more

I have suffered from leg pain for what seems like forever but when I started to notice huge bulgy veins on both my legs I decided it what time to get it taken care of. When you walk in everything is very clean, quiet, and comfortable. I didn't have a wait time and was immediately taken back for my consultation by a technician name Jaime. Jaime was very knowledgeable about his work and it is apparent that he was properly trained on how to treat patients. Dr. Bunker is amazing at what he does and took his time on answering all of my questions and put all of my fears to rest. Thank you, Dr. Bunker, for giving me a better quality of life through the VNUS closure procedure. As a nurse for 30+ years I had been having problems with my legs for several years, mainly varicose veins and a feeling of heaviness that really made me so tired after being on my feet for hours. I started hiking this year (something I wouldn't have been able to do before my procedure). My legs have stayed strong and flexible and I even challenged myself to climb Mt. Harvard, CO in July. Very disrespectful, and non professional staff. I pay good money for then to be treated like that! I don't think so. I went several times for treatment thinking it's going to get better, no it didn't. The girl by the name of Rebecca was very rude from the very first visit. Charging me different prices every time, then telling me that even the doctor got mad. Really???? On top of all this I never saw any difference in my treatments. So I don't see how they even have good reviews at all. I DO NOT recommend this place at all. Don't waste your time and money on this place. It's no wonder every time I went, there was never and customers there while I was there. I seriously don't know how this business is even open. read more

I went through the vein procedure and the results are great! As an elementary teacher I have to be on my feet most of the day and after long working days I still have to arrive home to take care of my children. My Mom has serious circulation problems and I decided I did not wanted to get to where she is at now having pain to walk and move. Before the procedure Dr. Bunker made sure that I understood my condition, the procedure, and the expectations. I am highly satisfied with the results. Not only I have no pain but the appearance of my legs improved significantly (a bonus in this case). The staff is wonderful and very professional. What a disapointment and waste of time. This is something I had been saving for and finally, this year I was ready to do it. So I made an appointment at Bunker Vein & Imaging on Bee Caves because of all the advertisment on KLBJ 590. (They must be paying big $$$, because they sure make it sound great), but I repeat: WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT. Very inexperienced staff -- far from friendly - they have no expression on their faces. I've read other reviews, and they may be friendly to other people but I did not get that impression at all. I'm not sure what it was, but they seemed so unprepared and robottic. I had my initial consultation with one of the techs she sounded like a robot when she was asking me the initial questions. I am not sure what her title is, but she was very young and seemed inexperienced. Then she tells me that the person doing the ultrasound is busy with another patient and that it would be about 15 minutes, which was fine with me. A few minutes later, a different young girl comes in to tell me that the person doing the ultrasound is running late because patients were running late (even though I was on time for my appointment). She asked me if I wanted to reschedule the ultrasound. I was disappointed but I agreed to rescheduling. So I start to get dressed when a different young girl comes in and tells me that they will go ahead and do the ultrasound and that I could come back for my consultation another day, but that I at least could go ahead and have my ultrasound done. So I start to change back into my shorts, but by this time I was extremely annoyed. Immediately after that, a different girl comes in and tells me that they are definitely running late and that they will not be able to do the ultrasound today. But she was ready to come back with her laptop so that I could reschedule my appointment. WHAT?!?! AFTER ALL THAT?!? I don't think so. Thank goodness there are other more reputable doctors in town. I will look for another doctor. I have no desire to come back to this place. And NO, I do not recommend this to anyone. I cannot say it enough, WHAT A WASTE OF TIME! read more

BE SURE YOU SEEK A SECOND OPINION IS MY ADVICE!! Dr Bunker imaged my veins in 2013, and in my opinion he in no way had my best interest (eg my health) at heart. He spent 75% of the initial consult going over whether and how much insurance would pay for removal of the Greater Saphenous Vein, even prior to testing to determine if that was indeed the cause. The other 25% was spent explaining what the GSV is and how easy the removal process is with him. I have great insurance, which may have looked like a good source of funds to pay off Dr. Bunker's new technology. He had his tech do a venous ultrasound test and then definitely confirmed in a written report that I needed to have the "Greater Saphenous Vein (GSV)" removed from both legs due to a finding of venous reflux and scheduled an appointment to remove them. * TIME OUT! That is pretty dramatic stuff. So, I sought a second and third opinion - and repeated the venous ultrasound test with two renowned and experienced vein doctors, the 2d here in Austin and the 3d at Stanford University. Both told me "with absolutely certainty" that there is nothing wrong with my veins that would warrant removal, and that doing so would more than likely cause me further problems. Interesting - both of those doctors had me stand up during the testing and told me it was essential for evaluation of venous reflex - which surprised me, because not once did Dr Bunker's tech have me stand up during the ultrasound procedure. I comfortably lay on my side on his exam table with my legs horizontal and bent at the knee. So obviously, I question his testing methodology, his finding, and his motive. Now, it's time for ME to give an opinion. I found the experience w. Dr. Bunker absolutely GHOULISH. * LOOK BEFORE YOU LEAP. Surgery is invasive - Dr. Bunker's phenomenal new technology might offer a relatively easier procedure than other techniques (I don't know how much empirical evidence supports that, and leave that research to you because I'm CLEARLY not getting the surgery) - but the bottom line is that surgery is the cutting out of body parts that play a crucial role in our complicated circulatory system. The information is ample - removal of the GS Vein has no long term guarantees and does indeed come with risks. WHY remove it if it isn't necessary?! (And remember - if you didn't need it and you later have a problem, you'll never be able to prove it, since the GS Veins will be long gone). GET A SECOND OPINION! read more

Had a substantial procedure performed with Dr. Bunker team. They are very attentive and polite but their medical performance is subpar. Besides not getting the results I expected, I can't feel my lower leg after 1 1/2 year after procedure. I came back multiple times and their feedback was just "give it time". I had to find a second opinion and was surprised to find out that my treatment could have been handled differently with potential to better results. Do your homework! read more

I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Bunker's office because I thought I had a blood clot in my leg. I was experiencing a stabbing pain in my calf that was causing great anxiety. They were able to see me very quickly, and his staff was amazing! The sonographer was so calming in her demeanor, gentle on my painful leg, and put me at ease right away. When the doctor came in, I was so relieved to find that the symptoms were a manifestation of venous insufficiency and venous reflux disease, and not a blood clot after all. I was also glad to hear that his office I was also glad to hear that his office accepts all kinds of insurance, and as soon as I can afford my deductible, I will be moving forward with treatment. I spent years and a lot of money trying to get my legs to look and feel better. Not until I got to Dr. Bunkers office did someone actually look for the underlying problem and start working on a permanent solution. I have found Dr. Bunker and his staff to be amazingly helpful and easy to deal with. And for someone who is almost 70 years old, my legs look and feel better than ever. But please be aware that this procedure takes time and will likely involve a number of visits to the office.
