The time was upon me to update my wardrobe. My existing suits were starting to show their wear. You know the story.. my suits had seen more than their fair share of lipstick on the collar, bullet holes skirting the jacket fabric at the ribs and for whatever inexplicable reason, Bengal tiger placentae stains on the sleeves. Bureau not only sells fancy threads worthy of distinguished gentlemen such as myself, but they also sell exclusively fully customized suits. Head to the shop on Elmwood Ave. for a visit and I promise you'll be impressed. There is a small lounge area where you sit and discuss the design of your new suit that has the look and feel of being in a London flat, as if you just wandered into a snuggery in Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange. Also, said lounge area may or may not have a false wall that leads to a secret room where there may or may not eventually be a speakeasy where men can sit down, whip up old fashioned cocktails and discuss the ways of the world, hypothetically speaking. A pure testosterone kick. I stopped in and met with Joe and Mike on my first visit. I didn't realize how much time I would need, so I came back a second time to place my order. There are a lot of choices to choose from, from the fabric, to the buttons, to the pockets, to the decision of putting something cool and hip for your interior liner, such as floating skulls and your initials, or something more classic. I didn't realize how many subtle nuances could be added to a fully customized suit that not only make you look like a secret agent killer, but also these nuances can showcase that fact you're wearing a custom suit that you just can't get from Men's Wearhouse or Jos A. Bank. Suits they craft here are made utilizing the finest woven wools and other top materials of your choosing (e.g. tweed, cashmere). Expect a 4-6 week turn-around-time, as your personalized suits will be manufactured in Holland. With this level of service and quality, however, comes a price: two-piece suits start around $700-$800 and three-piece suits start around $1300. If suits aren't your fancy, Bureau also sells fully customized jeans, dress jackets and even leather goods, such as shoes and handbags, but the suits are Bureau's staple. My thoughts? I knew for quite some time that I wanted to use Bureau for my custom wedding suit, and Jon and Mike at the shop did not disappoint! I did my initial consult with Mike, and while I thought I had a good idea of what I wanted going into the appointment, the customization options were endless. Mike was super knowledgeable and down to earth, and really helped me narrow it down based on my vision. I opted to get the wedding suit package, that came with a three piece suit, custom dress shoes, white dress shirt, socks, knit tie, suspenders, and pocket square, and it's definitely worth the money. When I returned for my fitting and put the suit on the for the first time, I knew right away I never had a suit look and feel so good. I've been into Bureau 3 or 4 times now and this place is so very needed for Buffalo. The two guys that run it, Joe and John, not only know their stuff but they go out of their way to help you out. I went in last May not even knowing what this place was. When I left I knew I had a place to get all my suits. I had just been to New York 3 weeks prior and had been roaming Manhattan for a good place to to get a custom suit. 16sur20, Michael Andrews and Suit Supply were all good, but Bureau was simply better. If you've never had a custom suit, I would definitely recommend it. It literally fees like it was made for you specifically. First, as I said earlier, these guys go out of their way to help you out. To say that I'm picky is an understatement. I need every detail worked out exactly before I'm content. John spent 2-3 hours on a Sunday with me answering all my questions and helping make that perfect suit. Second, they know their stuff. In the aforementioned 3 hours of conversation I learned more than I ever thought I would considering I read Details and GQ regularly. Joe went to Pitti Uomo last June (a huge Men's show in Italy) and these guys simply know their craft. Third, they have more swatches and options and give you more control than even the places in NYC did. Three huge books of swatches, custom liners, number of buttons, lapel style, you name it. If I thought of it, the answer was "yeah we can do that". I love that amount of creative freedom. Fourth, the prices. I was looking at the exact same swatch books as I was in New York yet the prices were about half of what they were in Manhattan. While that might be obvious considering prices of everything in Manhattan, consider that you can get a custom made suit from Bureau for less than an off the rack Hugo Boss or Napoli's suit. So you're getting a more personalized experience for less money. What's not to like? Fifth, the accessories. Accessories are the best way to finish off a look, personalize your style, and get creative. Bureau has some really nice accessories including some cufflinks modeled after various bullet cartridges. Though technically not an accessory, I believe they also do custom shirts as well. Ultimately this place is the best Buffalo menswear store offering more value, freedom and a better product than anyone in the area. read more

Where do I start? Bureau is the only place that anyone should ever go for their formal attire. I am not one to write reviews on any website, but I felt compelled to do so in this case. Jon Eisenberg and his team are true professionals, who are meticulous in their ability to find the perfect outfit for your special event. Furthermore, the service is impeccable. You can't teach people how to care about their profession, and that is what truly separates Bureau from their competition. I consider myself extremely lucky to have used this company for my tuxedo, and for my groomsman tuxedos. Do yourself a favor. Stop looking at other options. Go with Bureau. For those of you who are unfamiliar with custom suits I encourage you to give it a shot. Was there on business and had a free day and gave this place a shot. First of all the people there are snobbish. They were attentive and polite to another person who I gathered was a regular but it was like pulling teeth for them to help me. Didn't want to show me anything and I constantly had to say things like "what about that over there?" Maybe they didn't like my ethnicity? I rather go to Men's Warehouse than this snobbish and rude establishment. read more

What a great place! A cozy store-front on Elmwood that caters to all men of all shapes and sizes to have them dress as good as George (as in Clooney). Patterns, cuff styles, collar styles, buttons - OH MY! Hubby decided to purchase a shirt and we to have his measurements taken and shirt made.
